Devouring Evolution: Devouring Nuclear Bombs at the Start

89: Chapter 89 ”The Source of Information”This was a special space.

When expanded in three dimensions, this space could be infinitely large.

Within this space, all movements of the Great Universe could be observed.

If special observation methods were applied, one could even observe all information within special spaces wrapped in cosmic membranes deep within the layers of the Great Universe, such as ”parallel universes,” ”inferior universes,” and ”Small Universes.”

This was the office of Marshal Chang Xin, the Fourth Marshal of the ”Source of Information” civilization.

In the words of Earthlings, this was Marshal Chang Xin’s office.

”Marshal Chang Xin, this is the experimental subject you requested.”

Seven Speed, the leader of the four-man team, respectfully handed Lin Sheng over to Marshal Chang Xin.

After entering Marshal Chang Xin’s office, Seven Speed had been constantly constricting its perception.

If it didn’t do so, the vast and complex information surrounding it would cause its consciousness to collapse instantly.

Individuals of the Source of Information were also humanoid in shape.

However, their life form differed from that of the Creator individuals; they had no physical bodies.

Marshal Chang Xin was a non-physical being about 4 meters tall, giving Lin Sheng the feeling of an information aggregate.

After being brought out by Seven Speed, Lin Sheng had been acting as an invisible bystander.

He silently listened to the conversation between Seven Speed and Marshal Chang Xin, without making any irrational moves.

”Mm.”

”You have done well.”

Taking Lin Sheng from Seven Speed, Marshal Chang Xin gave a token word of praise.

”This is the information certification; write it into your source information yourself.”

A piece of information floated out from Marshal Chang Xin’s side and hovered in front of Seven Speed.

Seven Speed was not an individual from Marshal Chang Xin’s civilization, so the Marshal did not write this information directly into Seven Speed’s source information.

After offering its thanks, Seven Speed left Marshal Chang Xin’s office with the information certification that could change its fate.

...

After Seven Speed left, Marshal Chang Xin placed Lin Sheng in front of it to observe him.

While observing an experimental subject undergoing positive mutation under the strike of ”chaotic information” earlier, it had accidentally discovered Lin Sheng’s existence.

Lin Sheng possessed a lot of information that even it couldn’t understand, and it had intended to observe Lin Sheng for a longer period.

But because the difference in time flow between the Great Universe and the Solar System was too vast, in the short time it took to handle a few other matters, a serious situation occurred on Lin Sheng’s end, and even that positively mutating experimental subject had died.

Even as a Marshal of the Source of Information, Marshal Chang Xin, who possessed immense computing power, could only find a small part of the cause of death for that positively mutated creature from the residual information in the Solar System.

It was eaten by a creature!

As for the information after it was eaten, Marshal Chang Xin could no longer find it.

If it wanted to find this information, it wasn’t impossible, but it would require a great price.

It was just a low-level experimental subject; Marshal Chang Xin didn’t want to consume so much of the civilization’s computing power for it.

...

Marshal Chang Xin looked at Lin Sheng, and Lin Sheng looked back at Marshal Chang Xin.

Lin Sheng knew that with Marshal Chang Xin’s abilities, it definitely knew he was intelligent, so Lin Sheng didn’t play dumb in front of it.

From the previous conversation among the Creator members and the exchange between Seven Speed and Marshal Chang Xin, Lin Sheng had also gathered some information.

The bugs were created by those members, and Eighteen’s death was because of those bugs.

Therefore, in Lin Sheng’s heart, Eighteen’s death was inextricably linked to those members of the Creator.

And this Marshal of the Source of Information wasn’t any good either. Perhaps in their eyes, Eighteen and the bugs were just an experiment, but in Lin Sheng’s eyes, Eighteen was family.

The death of his family was inextricably linked to these fellows, and sooner or later, Lin Sheng would demand an explanation.

...

Marshal Chang Xin didn’t care about the way Lin Sheng looked at it. No matter how special Lin Sheng was, in its eyes, he was nothing more than a low-level creature.

「Hmm? To actually be able to control concepts?」

Marshal Chang Xin continuously read the information from Lin Sheng’s body.

As a Marshal of the Source of Information, Marshal Chang Xin could also rewrite concepts.

But to control concepts as if it were innate, like Lin Sheng did, was something it truly couldn’t achieve.

「Oh? What is this?」

Suddenly, Marshal Chang Xin found a piece of information within Lin Sheng’s body that even it found difficult to understand.

Just as it was about to deeply analyze this information, a communication interrupted it.

It placed Lin Sheng in a void space and left the office.

...

”Leader.”

After leaving the office, Marshal Chang Xin appeared in a somewhat dreamlike place.

Everything here was difficult to understand; ordinary people simply couldn’t find the words to describe the scene of this place.

Upon arriving, Marshal Chang Xin respectfully called out to the only individual there.

”The ’Source of Information’ has issued a warning. Within 10 million of our civilization’s years, the probability of civilization extinction is 0.25%.”

”And the root of that extinction lies with you—more accurately, it comes from that low-level creature you had those Creator individuals bring back.”

”Tell me in detail how you originally planned to handle that low-level creature.”

The Leader’s voice was very flat, as if speaking of an insignificant matter, with no sense of urgency regarding the impending extinction of the civilization.

When Marshal Chang Xin heard this news from the Leader, although it was surprised, there was no extra expression on its face.

The ”Source of Information” was the instrument their civilization used to deduce the course of their civilization; it had already reached the level of ”Truth.”

In the past, the ”Source of Information” had predicted several major crises for the civilization, but they had all been easily resolved.

Although this situation was somewhat sudden, it wasn’t particularly severe.

Once, an enemy from the Outer Universe wanted to rewrite the underlying logic of the Great Universe. Even though the probability of the universe’s destruction reached 99.97%, the Great Universe was still protected with the assistance of the Source of Information because it had given a warning.

”Leader, my intention was to throw this low-level creature into the ’Double Constant’ experimental field after thoroughly researching it.”

”If it can dominate the Double Constant experimental field, I would throw it into the ’Third Proving Ground’ to continue the experiment there.”

”If it can even survive the ’Third Proving Ground,’ I will decide how to handle it based on the situation.”

”If it cannot retain its self-awareness upon leaving the ’Third Proving Ground,’ then it will have no value.”

”But if it can still retain its self-awareness...”
