Devouring Evolution: Devouring Nuclear Bombs at the Start

56: Chapter 56 ”Ascension to Godhood”Lin Sheng truly hadn’t expected that he had actually misjudged it.

This wasn’t some trash talent at all; it was clearly a top-tier talent.

The evolution points required for ”Stellar Energy” were just a fraction of what it needed; it was hard to imagine what kind of enhancement ”Semiconductor” would bring him once it reached the Balance Grade.

Although his heart felt like it was being scratched by a cat’s claws, Lin Sheng could only look at it due to a severe lack of evolution points.

Subsequently, he experimented with the remaining talents, and the ones with the lowest consumption were the pair of ”Hardened Body Surface” and ”Steel Fangs.”

But even if they required the fewest evolution points, it would still cost Lin Sheng a bit over 100 million evolution points.

With that many evolution points, Lin Sheng might as well just go for a random Evolution.

While experimenting with talent Evolution, Lin Sheng discovered another issue.

And that was that the talent ”Flesh Parasitism” could not be evolved using evolution points.

”System, what’s the reason for this?”

Lin Sheng asked the system.

[Ding]

[The level of ”Flesh Parasitism” is determined by the Host’s body size and consciousness strength. Since the Host’s consciousness strength is at the ”Truth Level,” the essence of ”Flesh Parasitism” is considered a ”Truth Level” talent.]

Hearing the system’s explanation, Lin Sheng nodded as if gaining some insight.

However, regarding the ”Flesh Parasitism” talent, he still had many doubts and decided to take this opportunity to ask them directly.

”System, regarding the ’Flesh Parasitism’ talent, I actually still have some points of confusion.”

”’oracle’ should be something above the ’Truth Level,’ right? And my consciousness strength is only at the ’Truth Level,’ so why can I parasitize the oracle?”

The system did not leave Lin Sheng’s question unanswered.

After Lin Sheng finished speaking, the mechanical voice rang in his ear:

[Ding]

[A ”Truth Level” consciousness is the threshold for the normal use of an ”oracle.” The Host possesses a ”Truth Level” consciousness and can use an ”oracle” normally.]

[Furthermore, the Host’s body size is larger than the ”oracle” in the Host’s cognition; therefore, the Host can parasitize and use the ”oracle.”]

Lin Sheng didn’t pay much mind to the phrase ”in cognition.” Following the system’s explanation, he now understood why he could use the oracle.

It turned out that under the premise of possessing a ”Truth Level” consciousness, the parasite target’s level didn’t matter.

As long as his body size was massive enough, he could parasitize it.

In that case, why hesitate?

Regardless, with his current balance of evolution points, upgrading those Low Level talents would be a waste. It would be more cost-effective to directly increase his body size.

Having thought this through, Lin Sheng directly issued a command to the system:

”System, use the Evolution opportunity. Use 500 million evolution points for Ordinary Evolution.”

[Ding]

[This Evolution will last for 500 stellar days of this planet. Please wait patiently, Host.]

”That long?”

Lin Sheng was very surprised. Even including his previous Evolution time, he felt like he hadn’t even been in this era for 500 days.

However, the length of time didn’t mean much to the current Lin Sheng. After expressing his surprise at the duration, he relaxed his mind and began the Evolution.

...

During Lin Sheng’s Evolution, Eighteen looked for him once.

However, because Lin Sheng’s physical body was in a state of ”non-existence” during Evolution—aside from visual perception—Eighteen failed to find him this time.

But Eighteen wasn’t too worried about this, as it had experienced this state of Lin Sheng’s before.

...

Time passed quickly while Lin Sheng evolved.

Five hundred days was neither long nor short; it was enough time for the Earth to orbit the sun one and a half times.

Five hundred days later, Lin Sheng’s Evolution was complete, and he slowly rose from the sand and stones at the bottom of the sea.

Because he had been in a deep sleep, the 500 days consumed by the Evolution felt like only a single moment to Lin Sheng.

The moment he woke up, Lin Sheng subconsciously had the system open his data panel.

[Host: Lin Sheng]

[Body Length: 750 meters]

[Talents:]

[Immortal Consciousness (Truth Level)]

[Omniscience (Pseudo) (Truth Level)]

[Devour (Concept Level)]

[Evolution (Concept Level)]

[Divinity (rule level): A consciousness-level talent. You possess absolute suppressive power over thinking beings whose status (consciousness strength) is lower than yours.]

[Note: Due to the influence of the Great Universe’s underlying logic, ”Divinity” is severely restricted in this universe.]

...

[Description: You have ascended.]

[Although the underlying logic of the Great Universe will greatly weaken your Divinity, compared to a certain cowering Low Level creature, you—who possess a Truth Level consciousness—can use this greatly weakened Divinity with peace of mind.]

”I’ve become a god?”

Lin Sheng opened his mouth, momentarily unsure of what to feel.

Although he could tell from the information provided by the system that the underlying logic of this universe would greatly suppress ”Divinity,” and judging by the Blue Spirit God’s performance, this suppression seemed quite terrifying.

But the system also said that his consciousness was at the Truth Level. When using ”Divinity,” he didn’t need to be as hesitant as the Blue Spirit God, as if afraid of being discovered by something.

However, at this stage, since Lin Sheng had no way to solve the problem of ”Divinity” being suppressed by the Great Universe, he could only use ”Divinity” as a form of mental pressure.

A mental pressure that worked on all thinking beings.

...

Aside from evolving the ”Divinity” talent, Lin Sheng’s other talents remained unchanged after this Evolution.

After understanding the ”Divinity” talent, Lin Sheng’s consciousness left his body to begin observing his own form.

One look and he was stunned; Lin Sheng was surprised to find that his eyes were actually glowing.

The light was very bright, but not the dazzling kind.

The bright golden light gave off a sense of majesty and softness.

Aside from the eyes and his body length, there were no major changes to other parts of Lin Sheng’s body after the Evolution.

Lin Sheng’s consciousness returned to his body, and he swam freely through the sea. Having been in this era for so long, this was the first time Lin Sheng felt so relaxed.

However, before he could relax for long, trouble arrived one after another.

”Divinity” was, after all, something restricted by the entire universe. Creatures with body sizes similar to Lin Sheng’s were fine; they only dared to slip away silently under the pressure of ”Divinity.”

But it was different for creatures larger than Lin Sheng. Although they were also afraid, because of the advantage brought by their size, they also harbored thoughts of ”deicide” while being afraid.
