Devouring Evolution: Devouring Nuclear Bombs at the Start

82: Chapter 82 A familiar scene unfolds once again. The current alignment of several celestial bodies in the Solar System was unfavorable for Lin Sheng’s escape plan.

This was because, during this period, Pluto and Earth were located on the same side of the Sun.

If he were to escape directly from Earth, the Di Star in the outer ring would be a significant hidden threat.

Lin Sheng was not confident he could lead Eighteen—or even just himself—to break through the Zerg Swarm.

Therefore, to be safe, Lin Sheng decided to circle the Sun and leave the Solar System from the opposite side.

Coincidentally, once he reached the vicinity of the Sun, Lin Sheng could also try to devour the Sun’s energy to replenish his evolution points.

By using evolution points to boost his speed, Lin Sheng could reach a maximum of about 1/500th the speed of light, which was approximately 600 kilometers per second.

Since the escape velocity of the Solar System is 617.5 kilometers per second, Lin Sheng could just barely leave the Solar System at full speed.

Lin Sheng had previously asked Eighteen what its maximum speed was. Eighteen’s answer was that while it didn’t know its own limit, it had a feeling it could reach a speed that wouldn’t be pulled back by a star.

Not being pulled back by a star meant it could reach the Sun’s escape velocity.

With that, Lin Sheng felt relieved.

He immediately decided to set off and leave the Solar System at once.

...

As soon as he left the territory of the Blue Spirit God, Lin Sheng was surrounded by a large number of Zerg.

These insects seemed prepared, specifically blocking this path to ambush Lin Sheng and the others.

Lin Sheng had long anticipated this situation, so he didn’t panic when facing these insects.

Although there were many insects, Lin Sheng could barely manage.

At least with sufficient evolution points, Lin Sheng felt no fear when facing these insects.

He wedged the red crystal that had been stuck to Sky between his teeth; protected by his lips, it was much safer there than under a fingernail.

”Wahoo!”

Lin Sheng charged at the front.

After a loud roar, he clamped his mouth shut and released a massive amount of grayish-white mist from his upper body, leaving the surrounding insects powerless to resist.

Eighteen followed closely behind Lin Sheng, staying within a vacuum zone of the Anti-Life Equation.

The electromagnetic signals around its body were extremely chaotic. Strong electromagnetic radiation radiated outward in a fan shape, starting from the rear half of Eighteen’s body.

The scorching energy roasted the insects behind them, preventing them from launching any sneak attacks from the rear.

With the boost from evolution points, Lin Sheng’s speed reached its limit.

At a speed of over 600 kilometers per second, Lin Sheng left Earth almost in the blink of an eye.

At Lin Sheng’s current speed, he could reach the vicinity of the Sun within 70 hours.

But that was assuming no interference from the Zerg Swarm.

If the variable of the Zerg Swarm was added, the propulsion speed would inevitably be greatly reduced.

...

Not long after entering space, Lin Sheng’s propulsion speed began to drop significantly.

Countless insects surrounded him. Under the cover of the Zerg Swarm, even the amount of evolution points obtained from ”Stellar Energy” began to shrink.

These space-faring insects were not as easy to deal with as those on the Ground; being able to move freely in space, they could all more or less control two of the Fundamental Forces.

Under these circumstances, Eighteen’s strong electromagnetic radiation caused extremely limited damage to them.

Furthermore, Eighteen’s Mental Attacks required sound as a medium to propagate; in a vacuum, the damage from Mental Attacks was also extremely limited.

For now, it could only rely on its nine claws to attack the insects closing in.

But against insects of this scale and size, the effect of Eighteen’s claws was also very limited.

Against insects smaller than itself, Eighteen held a size advantage and could suppress them.

The problem was that the smallest of these space insects were 5,000 meters long, while the largest were tens of thousands of meters long, their full size unknown.

Eighteen’s size was not particularly large among the space insects.

Against an insect tens of thousands of meters long, Eighteen was almost powerless to fight back.

After leaving Earth and reaching space, they relied almost entirely on Lin Sheng’s Anti-Life Equation to hold on; Eighteen basically played no role.

Although it realized it was useless in combat, Eighteen didn’t just stand by and watch.

It exerted all its power to mobilize the two Fundamental Forces it controlled, helping Lin Sheng advance at a faster speed.

With Eighteen’s assistance, Lin Sheng’s speed began to increase.

Whether it was an illusion or not, as Lin Sheng killed the insects, he felt that the insects surrounding them were surviving longer and longer within the ”Anti-Life Equation.”

[The insects’ adaptability is improving.]

This thought suddenly popped into Lin Sheng’s mind.

He was startled.

This was not good.

With the insects’ speed of adaptation, it was only a matter of time before they adapted to the Anti-Life Equation, which added another layer of difficulty to Lin Sheng’s breakthrough.

Lin Sheng immediately deactivated the Anti-Life Equation and switched to using lightning to attack the surrounding insects.

Although the insects could also use Electromagnetic Force and had some resistance to it, they had no way to effectively resist Lin Sheng’s materialized version of the force.

A massive hemispherical lightning field with a radius of 100,000 meters centered on Lin Sheng, striking the insects surrounding them from the front.

The effect of the lightning was extremely significant, but the consumption of evolution points was also massive.

This was not a long-term solution.

Just as Lin Sheng was maintaining the lightning breakthrough while thinking about what to do next, a wave that sent a stimulating shock through the galaxy suddenly spread through his entire body.

Under the influence of this wave, the surrounding Zerg Swarm began to retreat.

Lin Sheng didn’t know what had happened, but ”Omniscience” told him that danger was approaching.

A hideous mouthpart entered Lin Sheng’s field of vision from the side.

Lin Sheng’s pupils suddenly contracted; he couldn’t even see the full extent of the mouthpart’s owner at a single glance.

It was a giant, elongated insect over ten kilometers long. If one ignored the thruster-like devices at its tail, it was essentially an ultimate-form Giant Millipede.

Every segment of the Giant Millipede’s body was covered in a layer of pitch-black scales, with faint arcs of electricity flickering across the carapace.

At the joints between each body segment, a small amount of milky-white, leathery flesh was exposed.

...

Lin Sheng never expected this. It was one thing to be chased by a Giant Millipede on his first day in this era when he was very weak.

But now that he was powerful enough to leave the Solar System, he was still being chased by a Giant Millipede.

However, unlike the first Giant Millipede, this one was more than capable of taking both Lin Sheng’s and Eighteen’s lives.

”...”

The Giant Millipede let out a silent roar. Under its overwhelming pressure, Eighteen’s body couldn’t help but tremble.

Seeing this, Lin Sheng quickly released his divinity to help Eighteen dispel the pressure.

The Giant Millipede was extremely fast; in almost an instant, it had rushed to the side of Lin Sheng and Eighteen.
