Devouring Evolution: Devouring Nuclear Bombs at the Start

57: Chapter 57 The Body is the Strongest WeaponLin Sheng relied on the pressure of his ”Divinity” to rampage through the sea, but because he was too flashy, he was eventually targeted by a predator in the ocean.

The one targeting Lin Sheng was a serpent-like fish monster nearly 2,000 meters long.

The fish monster had a serpent’s body, with a row of dorsal fins on its back similar to those of a ribbonfish, and fins like hooked claws behind its head.

The fish monster stared at Lin Sheng; though its gaze was greedy, it did not immediately launch an attack on him.

Seeing this, Lin Sheng knew that this fish monster was a native creature of Earth.

If it were from outer space, a consciousness eroded by ”chaotic information” could not possibly be so cautious.

Lin Sheng didn’t give the fish monster time to react; he took the initiative and launched an attack.

A strange magnetic field spread around him, and under its influence, the surrounding seawater suddenly began to boil with Lin Sheng as the center.

It wasn’t just the seawater boiling; the blood on the surface of the fish monster’s body also boiled along with the water.

”...”

The fish monster opened its mouth wide and let out a silent roar in the seawater.

Just as Lin Sheng stood ready, waiting to deal with the fish monster’s next round of attacks, its subsequent actions left him standing there in a daze.

The fish monster fled.

By the time Lin Sheng released electromagnetic radiation to heat the surroundings, the fish monster had already begun to feel timid.

Because Lin Sheng brought it not only a mental threat, but now it also felt a threat to its physical body.

Faced with this situation, driven by the instinct to seek advantage and avoid harm as well as its simple intelligence, the fish monster chose to flee without hesitation.

Seeing that the fish monster had already turned to leave, Lin Sheng snapped out of it and flapped his wings to give chase.

In fact, with Lin Sheng’s current control over Electromagnetic Force, his wings were practically just for show.

But out of habit, Lin Sheng would still subconsciously flap his wings a few times while moving.

For Lin Sheng, native creatures on Earth, except for the Zerg, all shared a characteristic that could be considered a benefit.

That is, the consciousness of these native creatures on Earth relied on a central nervous system to exist.

Although creatures protect their central nervous systems very well during Evolution, once that system is destroyed, the creature’s consciousness will immediately dissipate.

The dissipation of consciousness signifies the death of the organism.

Although an organism’s brain—the central nervous system—has a certain resistance to electromagnetic waves, what Lin Sheng released were no ordinary electromagnetic waves.

Compared to ordinary electromagnetic waves in nature, the ones Lin Sheng released were controllable.

He could simply adjust the electromagnetic waves he released to perform precision strikes.

As long as Lin Sheng accelerated the electric charges in the fish monster’s brain to a certain point, the intense high temperature could directly destroy its brain.

The fleeing fish monster had not yet realized the gravity of the situation; it was only focused on escaping, completely unaware that death was approaching.

”...”

Just as the fish monster thought Lin Sheng couldn’t catch up, a burning pain suddenly shot through its brain.

Living in the deep sea, the fish monster had never encountered fire, nor had it ever experienced this kind of pain.

It hadn’t experienced it before, and it would never have the chance to experience it again.

After stumbling and swimming some distance further in the sea, the burning sensation eased significantly.

But in the next moment, an even more intense burning sensation used the fish monster’s brain as a medium to stab fiercely into its consciousness.

Although Lin Sheng only had weak control over Electromagnetic Force, through accelerating electric charges, he could only heat the fish monster’s brain to over 1,000 degrees at most.

But a high temperature of over 1,000 degrees, even if it only burned the surface of the fish monster’s body, would be unbearable over time.

Moreover, this 1,000-plus degree heat was directly scorching the fish monster’s consciousness.

In just an instant, the blood in the fish monster’s brain boiled and then evaporated, leaving only a withered ”walnut kernel” where the brain used to be.

After Lin Sheng increased the output of Electromagnetic Force, the fish monster ”cooperatively” curled its body and lay on the seabed with its belly up.

Seeing the fish monster, which could be said to have almost no reaction under the electromagnetic radiation, Lin Sheng planned to further develop the offensive methods of Electromagnetic Force in the future.

Although this attack method wasn’t very effective against creatures hit by ”chaotic information” or the bugs, it was almost a guaranteed kill against native Earth creatures.

No matter how hard they evolved their central nervous systems, they couldn’t defend against the penetration of Electromagnetic Force.

After killing the fish monster, Lin Sheng approached it and found himself in a bit of a dilemma.

Because this fish monster was too cowardly and too easy to kill, Lin Sheng had momentarily overlooked its size.

Facing a creature nearly 2,000 meters long, Lin Sheng felt like he didn’t know where to start eating.

”Try scratching it with your claws.”

”Omniscience” suddenly gave Lin Sheng a reminder at this moment.

Half-doubting, Lin Sheng extended his claws and swiped hard at the fish monster’s corpse.

*Puchi.*

Sounds made by creatures under the sea are very strange; this sound of a sharp blade entering flesh was one Lin Sheng provided in his own mind.

He stared in surprise at his bloody claws, shocked by their sharpness.

Lin Sheng had always relied on his talents to fight, and he didn’t understand his body’s physical combat capabilities well enough.

Coupled with the previous battle with the purple Giant Fish, where his skin was easily sliced open, Lin Sheng lacked confidence in the strength of his physical body.

But what he didn’t know was that with the Giant Fish’s body structure, it could even slice through the fish monster in front of him.

After just cutting the fish monster, Lin Sheng realized he had always ignored his physical strength.

Once he realized this, he thought about it carefully and found that his powerful physical body had a clear origin.

His 700-meter-plus body had been enhanced by 500 million evolution points and also possessed a ”Balance Grade” physical talent (Immaculate Body); it would be strange if his body weren’t strong.

.

Since there aren’t enough words to start a separate chapter, I’ll explain the talent grade classifications at the bottom of this chapter.

From highest to lowest, they are:

”Truth”

”Concept”

”rule”

”Pattern”

”balance”

”nature”

”Rare”

”Low Level”

nature and below correspond to Level 1 cosmic civilizations.

The span of balance is quite large; civilizations capable of interstellar travel are all considered Balance Grade, Level 2 to 3 civilizations.

Level 4 civilizations involve Patterns and can crudely utilize the Patterns of the universe.

I won’t say more for now to avoid spoilers.

There are grades above ”Truth,” but I’ll leave that as a cliffhanger for now.

Classifying grades in sci-fi is quite taxing because these grades need to be somewhat materialistic; you can’t just add ”Truth King,” ”Truth Venerable,” or ”Truth Saint” like in xianxia.

To be honest, the ”Truth” grade isn’t strictly sci-fi anymore; it’s something I dug up from philosophy.

The subsequent grades aren’t really scientific anymore; they basically involve the realm of philosophy.
