Devouring Evolution: Devouring Nuclear Bombs at the Start

69: Chapter 69 Civilization on MarsThe monster did not continue its attack on Lin Sheng. It simply stared at him fixedly with its four pupils while its body began to retreat.

This was exactly the outcome Lin Sheng wanted to see.

Lin Sheng had no intention of pursuing it to press his advantage.

Right now, he appeared to have defeated the monster, but as the one involved, Lin Sheng knew his own situation.

Two attacks had consumed 400 million evolution points. He no longer had enough evolution points to sustain this battle.

If the monster had suddenly launched an attack at this moment, Lin Sheng would likely have met his end here today.

Fortunately, under the blessing of ”Divinity,” the monster did not see through Lin Sheng’s current bluff.

It merely let out a few silent roars of resentment at Lin Sheng before retreating back to the Dark side of the Moon.

After the monster’s divinity vanished, Lin Sheng also breathed a secret sigh of relief.

However, he did not withdraw immediately.

Lin Sheng stood quietly in the starry expanse of the universe for a long time, his golden eyes fixed on the Dark side of the Moon.

He issued a command in his mind, and his remaining evolution points began to repair his lower body, which had previously been torn in half by the monster.

Whether by coincidence or not, the moment Lin Sheng’s body finished repairing itself, the monster’s electromagnetic signal also happened to disappear from the Dark side of the Moon.

「The monster has left.」

Only then did Lin Sheng truly relax.

He grabbed the two giant claws left behind by the monster and flew toward Mars.

He had heard Eighteen say before that those red crystals came from Mars.

It just so happened that Lin Sheng was nearly out of evolution points, and the creatures on Earth that he found worthwhile were a bit troublesome to hunt.

Therefore, Lin Sheng decided to take a trip to Mars to see if he could find more of those crystals there.

...

Martian Orbit.

Lin Sheng drifted in orbit for a long time but never entered Mars’ atmosphere.

Mars’ atmosphere was much thinner than Earth’s. From space, Lin Sheng could vaguely see some conditions on the surface.

There were traces of intelligent life activity on the surface of Mars!

Although these traces weren’t very clear looking down from orbit.

Lin Sheng was certain that those traces were made by intelligent beings.

Because other than intelligent beings, Lin Sheng really couldn’t think of any other creature that would live inside a structure resembling a ”perimeter wall.”

https://img.wtr-lab.com/cdn/series/NFvDffVcJFFZeQBLLkNvMbgJvV7kd10aXuDLIaVRnMw.jpegThe little figure was only drawn to set the scene.

The area covered by the ”perimeter wall” was vast, but because of the atmosphere, it was difficult for Lin Sheng to see its specific appearance.

Near the ”perimeter wall,” small black dots could be seen entering and exiting from time to time.

These small black dots were the intelligent race that had developed a civilization on Mars.

Lin Sheng pondered in orbit for a long time and finally decided to go down and check the situation.

Although this Martian civilization gave Lin Sheng an eerie feeling, it didn’t give him a sense of crisis.

Since he was already here, Lin Sheng decided to go down and see this strange civilization for himself.

After all, they all lived in the same Solar System; meeting was only a matter of time.

Rather than meeting unexpectedly and unprepared later, it was better to go and say hello now.

If this civilization was too aggressive, Lin Sheng would simply nip them in the bud.

However, Lin Sheng didn’t think this civilization was particularly aggressive.

Because the reason Lin Sheng came to Mars in the first place was that red crystal Eighteen had picked up here.

Since Eighteen had been to Mars and this civilization still existed, it proved they weren’t that aggressive.

After all, if this civilization were highly aggressive, between them and Eighteen, one would surely have been eliminated.

What Lin Sheng didn’t know, however, was that Eighteen hadn’t actually had any contact with this civilization when it visited Mars.

...

Having decided to head to Mars, Lin Sheng began to handle the remaining issues at hand.

He still had the two claws from the monster on the Dark side of the Moon. From the moment he left the Moon until now, Lin Sheng had been using his teeth to grind at the joints.

Sometimes, when faced with food even larger than himself, Lin Sheng really wanted to just throw it away.

But unlike the previous ”Hive,” these two claws weren’t just impossible to chew; they also tasted very strange.

Although the monster’s two claws were incredibly massive, Lin Sheng had compared them and found that each finger was roughly the same size as his body. As long as he could dismember the claws into individual fingers, he could fully pocket these hundreds of millions of evolution points.

Now, he had finally made a small step forward. Through Lin Sheng’s tireless efforts, one of the monster’s claws was finally dismembered.

Excitedly, Lin Sheng swallowed the claw, which was nearly as long as his own body, into his mouth.

”Refreshing!”

Lin Sheng let out a silent groan of pleasure in space.

With an influx of over 20 million evolution points, he was suddenly full of motivation.

...

Lin Sheng drifted in Martian orbit for about ten days. During these ten days, he did nothing else but dismember the monster’s claws.

The underlying logic of the Great Universe does not fail those who persevere. After more than ten days of hard work, Lin Sheng finally swallowed the pair of claws worth over 300 million evolution points.

Adding his previous tens of millions of remaining points, Lin Sheng’s current evolution points returned to around 400 million.

Furthermore, his body length had reached approximately 860 meters.

While this length might not seem like much, Lin Sheng had previously relied on a body of about 800 meters and 400 million evolution points to fight a terrifying creature tens of thousands of meters long on equal terms.

Now that Lin Sheng’s evolution points had returned to the 400 million mark, his courage grew once again.

He had stayed in Martian orbit long enough; it was time to enter the Martian surface.

Lin Sheng adjusted his velocity, and his body began to descend.

...

A ”Fire meteor” pierced the atmosphere, and after breaking through, it suddenly made a graceful turn in the sky.

The ”Fire meteor’s” speed began to decrease, and the surrounding flames slowly weakened.

Lin Sheng landed steadily on the surface of Mars.

He didn’t intentionally choose a landing spot, but likely because he had been drifting above that civilization, he happened to land right outside the perimeter wall.

Upon closer observation, Lin Sheng realized that what he had seen from orbit wasn’t a perimeter wall at all.

What kind of perimeter wall looks like the flesh and blood of a biological organism?!

I added a color illustration of the carboniferous period that I drew myself at the beginning of the first chapter. If you want to see it, you can go back to the first chapter.

Even if you don’t want to, go and appreciate this master’s masterpiece!

I’ve been brainstorming the Martian content lately. There might be fewer words written about Mars, but the information density will be high and will explain many things, which is why recent updates have been a bit late.
