Devouring Evolution: Devouring Nuclear Bombs at the Start

84: Chapter 84 Small UniverseThe surroundings were very quiet. Occasionally, a few small celestial bodies silently streaked past Lin Sheng’s side. Looking at these frozen small celestial bodies, Lin Sheng realized something was wrong.

Eighteen was gone!

Not just Eighteen, even Sky, who was stuck between Lin Sheng’s teeth, was gone!

Lin Sheng only noticed then that the Solar System behind him had disappeared, replaced by a mass of chaotic, unknown matter.

Facing this situation, Lin Sheng didn’t dare to delay for a second and immediately turned back into this mass of chaotic matter.

The feeling of his whole body being wrapped spread through him again. After the wrapping sensation dissipated, what met his eyes was Eighteen, covered in wounds.

At this moment, Eighteen’s breath was faint, and two of its nine body segments were nowhere to be found.

Surrounding it were several Stellar Insects. Behind the Stellar Insects was that massive insect, though its intelligence wasn’t as high as the Stellar Insects’.

Seeing this scene, Lin Sheng was greatly shocked.

From leaving the Solar System to returning to it again, Lin Sheng’s reaction was very fast; he had stayed in the Kuiper Belt for at most three seconds.

But seeing the situation before him, Lin Sheng felt as if a long time had passed here.

「The time information of the Solar System and the Great Universe is out of sync」

Omniscience gave a reminder, but Lin Sheng had no time to consider these things right now.

His figure reappeared on the battlefield, causing those Stellar Insects to not act rashly.

Lin Sheng’s gaze was fixed on those Stellar Insects. While confronting them, he also had to distract himself to look for Sky’s figure.

Fortunately, Sky had been protected well by Eighteen and hadn’t been eaten by the insects.

Lin Sheng’s arrival gave Eighteen, who was fighting a bitter battle alone against the Zerg Swarm, a moment of respite.

Lin Sheng signaled Eighteen to retreat behind him. Having gone through a hard battle, Eighteen didn’t try to be brave and obediently retreated behind Lin Sheng.

Lin Sheng placed Sky between his teeth, then he watched the restless insects around him.

Seeing that those insects had no intention of attacking for the moment, Lin Sheng didn’t stay idle and asked the system in his heart.

“System, what’s going on with the Solar System? Can you explain it to me?”

“Why can I leave the Solar System, but Eighteen and Sky can’t?”

Omniscience was currently limited by its level and wasn’t all-powerful.

Compared to Omniscience, the system definitely knew more; it was just unknown if the system would answer.

Perhaps because this information was inconsequential, the system didn’t hide it from Lin Sheng this time and answered directly:

「The periphery of the Solar System is wrapped in a layer of ’cosmic membrane.’ The Host can understand the Solar System as an independent Small Universe within the Great Universe, except that the underlying logic of this Small Universe is exactly the same as that of the Great Universe」

「Under normal circumstances, unless there is external interference, native creatures of a universe cannot pass through the cosmic membrane」

「But you are different, Host. You possess the Immaculate Body, which is the reason you can freely travel through the cosmic membrane and Dimensional Slices」

「Furthermore, Host, your talents are universal across the multiverses. The underlying logic of the Great Universe will only limit the intensity of your talents, not your use of them」

Hearing the system’s words, Lin Sheng’s heart immediately sank to the bottom.

If Lin Sheng were alone, this would undoubtedly be a good thing for him.

But the problem was, he wasn’t alone.

He also had his two companions, Eighteen and Sky.

Lin Sheng turned his head to look at Eighteen behind him, then he took a deep breath as if he had made some sort of decision.

Since they couldn’t leave, why not just eat all these insects?

That way, there would be no need to leave.

Eat all these insects, and before the Creator returns, find the passage Eighteen came from.

Lin Sheng secretly made this decision in his heart.

At this time, those restless insects on the periphery also sounded the horn of attack.

The leaders weren’t those Stellar Insects, but some milky-white Small Fleshy Worms that looked like they had no offensive power.

Although the bodies of these Small Fleshy Worms were large, they gave Lin Sheng a feeling of being harmless.

Lin Sheng released the Anti-Life Equation, and a grayish-white mist enveloped these fleshy worms.

Seeing the scene that happened next, Lin Sheng also understood why these fleshy worms were sent as the vanguard.

The Large Fleshy Worms opened their chrysanthemum-like mouthparts and, as if inhaling secondhand smoke, with just a few gulps, the Anti-Life Equation Lin Sheng had spent tens of millions of evolution points to release vanished completely.

After swallowing the Anti-Life Equation, the surface of the Large Fleshy Worms’ bodies only turned slightly gray.

Seeing this, Lin Sheng switched his attack method to lightning.

But as soon as he switched to lightning, those Stellar Insects immediately surrounded him.

Lightning had a negligible effect on those Stellar Insects, but as soon as Lin Sheng switched lightning back to the Anti-Life Equation, those Stellar Insects would immediately retreat, and the Large Fleshy Worms would push forward again.

As time went on, Lin Sheng began to fall into a disadvantage.

Mainly because in the process of fighting, Lin Sheng had consumed too many evolution points.

Without sufficient evolution points, Lin Sheng’s combat power was greatly reduced.

Eighteen stopped behind Lin Sheng. Looking at Lin Sheng’s desperate posture, a flash of determination crossed its eyes.

When Lin Sheng disappeared earlier, it thought everything was over and their race had escaped.

But heaven played a huge joke on it at that moment.

Lin Sheng had left, but it and Sky were left behind.

Eighteen felt no resentment about this.

Even though Lin Sheng had ”abandoned” it and had been gone for over a dozen hours, it felt no resentment.

But when Eighteen faced these insects alone, it still had some regrets in its heart.

This wasn’t a regret about its own inability to survive; its regret was that it wasn’t the only one who couldn’t leave—there was also Sky.

If Sky could have left with Lin Sheng, perhaps even if it died, there would be no regrets in its heart.

Eighteen gazed blankly at Lin Sheng’s back.

Back on Earth, Lin Sheng was still a family member who needed its protection in its eyes.

But at some point, this family member who needed its protection could now protect it.

“...”

Eighteen took a deep breath and made a decision in its heart.

It controlled its consciousness and made an attempt in the depths of its heart.

...

Lin Sheng could no longer remember how many times he had switched to lightning.

Anyway, as soon as the Large Fleshy Worms came, he switched to lightning; as soon as they left, he switched to the Anti-Life Equation.

The Large Fleshy Worms retreated again, and Lin Sheng once more switched lightning to the Anti-Life Equation.

But just then, a mysterious message suddenly came into his mind.

The message appeared very inexplicably, but since it was a conscious transmission, Lin Sheng could immediately understand the meaning it wanted to express.

“Eat... me!”
