31: Chapter 31 Lin ShibaLin Sheng slowly took a small step to his right. Seeing this, the ”Benefactor” also tilted its head slightly to the left.

Lin Sheng moved to the right again, and the ”Benefactor” likewise tilted its head to the right.

The ”Benefactor” watched Lin Sheng’s small movements with great interest. Two minutes and thirty seconds later, the system’s notification sound rang in Lin Sheng’s mind.

Just as the notification finished, Lin Sheng’s body, which had been frozen in mid-air, went into a direct free fall.

The ”Benefactor” was quite close to Lin Sheng’s body. It immediately extended one of its bodies and caught Lin Sheng’s falling form with its claws.

Seeing that the giant monster was merely curious and had no intention of attacking him, Lin Sheng braced himself and returned to his body.

He stiffly flapped his wings a few times. Seeing that Lin Sheng’s consciousness had returned, the ”Benefactor” released him at the appropriate time.

At this moment, Lin Sheng did not choose to run away immediately.

He was right next to the monster, less than 50 meters away. If he tried to run, the monster could catch him even if it stayed perfectly still.

Lin Sheng flapped his wings and hovered at eye level with the ”Benefactor.” Like someone praying to Buddha, he pressed his palms together and bowed repeatedly toward the ”Benefactor.”

While bowing, Lin Sheng kept muttering under his breath!

”Big Brother, hello. Big Brother, I don’t have much meat. Big Brother, don’t eat me. Big Brother, I’m poisonous.”

After watching Lin Sheng’s strange behavior for a long time, a flash of human-like confusion crossed the ”Benefactor’s” eyes.

This Little Thing seemed quite smart the last time I saw it? Why does it feel like this Little Thing has turned stupid now?

Could it be from fright?

This won’t do. I finally found a native capable of expressing its thoughts; I can’t let it just go stupid like this.

Thinking of this, the ”Benefactor” grabbed Lin Sheng, who was still ”worshipping,” then tore a small piece of flesh from the Honeycomb Monster’s corpse and held it to Lin Sheng’s mouth.

Seeing the piece of tempting flesh near his mouth, which was nearly the size of his entire body, Lin Sheng only hesitated for a moment before opening his mouth wide and forcibly swallowing the flesh.

Seeing Lin Sheng swallow the flesh in one gulp, the ”Benefactor” was surprised but also felt relieved.

At least it still knows how to eat; its brain must not be too badly damaged.

Seeing that Lin Sheng’s eyes were still fixed unblinkingly on the flesh it was holding, the ”Benefactor” didn’t hold back. As long as Lin Sheng wanted it, it would give it.

...

After watching Lin Sheng swallow flesh several times his own size in a short period, the ”Benefactor” stopped feeding him.

No matter how much Lin Sheng used body language to express his desire, the ”Benefactor” remained unmoved.

Although Lin Sheng’s outward appearance seemed normal, it worried that if he kept eating like this, something would go seriously wrong with his body.

Faced with this situation, Lin Sheng had no choice.

However, after that feeding session, his evolution points had skyrocketed to over 1.3 million. Considering his experiences over the past two days, this could be seen as a blessing in disguise.

”Ding.”

”Ding ding?”

While Lin Sheng was immersed in the joy of his massive harvest of evolution points, a pleasant sound of clashing metal suddenly reached his ears.

The sound was somewhat similar to wind chimes. Lin Sheng found it hard to imagine that the giant monster in front of him could produce such a sound.

”Big Brother, what are you saying?”

Lin Sheng did not have human vocal organs. When these words came from his current mouth, they turned into a series of unintelligible low growls.

However, even though the ”Benefactor” couldn’t understand what Lin Sheng was saying, it could tell from his expression that he was confused. It also realized a problem: their languages were not compatible.

The ”Benefactor’s” nine bodies were constantly knotting and unknotting themselves. This was a subconscious movement its race made when in deep thought.

While the ”Benefactor” was contemplating, Lin Sheng was also thinking about his own path forward.

He could see that the monster before him was highly intelligent and had the intention of communicating with him.

Given this situation, Lin Sheng decided to seize the opportunity. If he played his cards right, he might even gain a powerful backer.

The only difficult problem at the moment was their language barrier; there was no way to convey the meanings they wanted to express.

At this thought, Lin Sheng couldn’t help but lower his head in contemplation.

Very quickly, he thought of a solution.

Before written language existed, humans would carve things on rock walls. Even thousands of years later, humans could understand the meaning of these murals.

Lin Sheng felt that since he and this monster couldn’t speak to each other, why not bypass language and use the simplest form of communication: drawing?

Having an idea, Lin Sheng raised a claw and tugged at the giant monster beside him. Then, he used another claw to point at the clouds below, signaling for it to go down with him.

The ”Benefactor” tilted its head. After a series of gestures from Lin Sheng, it roughly understood what he was trying to convey.

Under Lin Sheng’s lead, the ”Benefactor” dropped the Honeycomb Monster’s corpse and followed behind Lin Sheng, flying unhurriedly toward the desert below.

With the ”Benefactor” following behind, Lin Sheng flew very slowly this time. For once, he finally experienced the thrill of a fox borrowing the tiger’s majesty.

He, who used to take detours whenever he saw churning clouds, would now unhesitatingly spit a pillar of fire into any suspicious cloud where he thought a creature might be hiding.

Every time he did this, a creature over a hundred meters long would fly out, acting as if it wanted to take Lin Sheng down.

But as soon as those creatures saw the ”Benefactor” following behind Lin Sheng, they would slink away in disgrace.

But after doing this many times, Lin Sheng got bored of it.

He then flew back to the ”Benefactor’s” side, pretending to be very close to it as he chatted away.

Even though he knew the giant monster couldn’t understand him, Lin Sheng continued to ramble on to himself the whole way.

”Big Brother, you’re really handsome.”

”Ding?”

”Big Brother, you’re so big.”

”Ding ding?”

”Big Brother, what did you eat to grow so much?”

”Ding?”

”Big Brother, what’s your name?”

”Ding?”

”No name? Then how about I help you pick one?”

”Ding ding?”

”Since you didn’t refuse, I’ll take that as a yes.”

Looking at the giant monster’s nine massive bodies, Lin Sheng pondered for a moment and then said:

”See, you have nine bodies. How about I name you Eighteen?”

”You probably don’t have the concept of a ’surname’ either, right? Tell you what, my surname is Lin. You can take my surname. From now on, your full name will be Lin Eighteen.”

”Ding ding ding?”

”Oh? You agreed so readily. It seems you really like this new name.”
