He had served her. It seems to be completely rewiring her survival instincts, slowly replacing the frantic anxiety of the industry with an indestructible loyalty to the boy who treated her like a queen, even when she was entirely helpless.

But all sweet things inevitably had to face the turning gears of the real world.

Currently, Beyoncé was standing near the door of the luxury suite, fully dressed and waiting to leave. A profound reluctance darkened her beautiful hazel eyes. Yet, she had to go. As the sole backbone of her group’s impending, massive album cycle, carrying the weight of a multimillion-dollar label rollout on her seventeen-year-old shoulders was not an easy job. She had grueling studio sessions and executive meetings she could no longer avoid.

Smiling softly, Marvin walked close, pulling her into a tight, enveloping hug.

Beyoncé closed her eyes with a quiet sigh, immediately laying her head against his chest, grounding herself in the steady rhythm of his heart. Marvin’s hands slowly stroked down her spine to curves of her ass, the magnetic, familiar touch sending shivers of pleasure straight through her nervous system.

During these isolated days, his touch had become an addiction to her—the only sanctuary where her mind was allowed to be completely quiet.

”You don’t have to worry, my B,” Marvin murmured, his velvet voice vibrating against her ear, soothing the spike of industry dread in her aura. ”I will be finalizing my acquisitions of the new studio spaces soon, and once you turn eighteen, you can shift here. so we can enjoy ourselves thoroughly, completely insulated from their rules.”

As he spoke the promise, one of his hands slid deliberately down her spine and gave the soft curve of her bountiful ass a firm nice squeeze.

Beyoncé let out a sharp, involuntary moan, her breath hitching as a rush of liquid heat pooled instantly in her core. Her chest heaved, her pulse spiking as the dormant lust flared her desire right back to a boiling point. Marvin’s blue eyes darkened; he was deeply tempted to drag her right back to the mattress and completely ruin her recovering body all over again, but he held the beast back. There were massive empires they both needed to build today.

Raising her chin gently with his knuckles, he captured her lips in a deep, wet, bruising kiss. Reluctantly pulling away, Beyoncé nodded, her eyes shining with fierce love, and pressed a soft, lingering kiss to his cheek before stepping out of the suite.

The transition back to reality was cushioned by the tinted sanctuary of the Maybach. They rode together in comfortable, intertwined silence until Gordon finally navigated the late-afternoon traffic, pulling the massive vehicle to a smooth stop at the drop-off location.

She gracefully got out of the car as Gordon opened the door, the chaotic Los Angeles air rushing in to meet her.

Marvin sat back in the shadows of the plush leather seat, watching her walk toward the glowing studio entrance where her management team was working. Right before she stepped inside the glass doors and back into the unforgiving spotlight, she paused and looked back over her shoulder.

She gave him that specific, breathtakingly lingering look. It was the exact same expression—now overflowing to the brim with deep love—that she had been giving him at the end of magical evenings since the birthday date. It was a look that wordlessly communicated that no matter how exhausting the industry was, the entire chaotic day had been completely worth it, just for the sanctuary of the ride home.

The car door closed with a solid, echoing thud. The Maybach moved on into the day, leaving the queen perfectly armored to conquer her world.

When the Academy Award nominations were announced, the scale of the achievement sent a shockwave through the industry.

Leading the field was Shakespeare in Love with a staggering 13 nominations, while Saving Private Ryan followed closely behind with 11 nominations, cementing its status as the favorite in the eyes of many critics and moviegoers. Behind them stood a crowded field of prestigious contenders. The Thin Red Line secured 7 nominations, Elizabeth earned 7 nominations, and, to the surprise of many industry veterans, The Sixth Sense joined their ranks with an equally impressive 7 nominations.

For a supernatural psychological thriller—a genre the Academy had historically treated with skepticism—the achievement was nothing short of extraordinary.

The film received recognition in the marquee categories of Best Picture, Best Director for M. Night Shyamalan, Best Original Screenplay, Best Film Editing, Best Supporting Actress for Toni Collette, Best Actor for Bruce Willis, and the history-making nomination for twelve-year-old Marvin Meyers in Best Supporting Actor.

Trade papers immediately seized upon the story. While Saving Private Ryan and Shakespeare in Love had dominated awards-season discussions for months, few analysts had expected The Sixth Sense to stand shoulder-to-shoulder with some of the most prestigious productions of the year.

Overnight, the film transformed from a box-office phenomenon into a legitimate Oscar contender.

The nomination that generated the most headlines, however, was Marvin Meyers’. At only twelve years old, he became one of the youngest acting nominees in Academy history. Television networks replayed clips from the film relentlessly, while entertainment journalists debated whether Hollywood was witnessing the emergence of a once-in-a-generation talent.

Yet the biggest talking point across the industry remained Shakespeare in Love.

Its thirteen nominations stunned many observers. While few denied the film’s charm, wit, or critical acclaim, some insiders quietly questioned whether it truly deserved such overwhelming recognition compared to heavyweight competitors like Saving Private Ryan and The Thin Red Line. Among filmmakers, critics, and awards pundits, debates erupted over whether the romantic comedy had benefited from one of the most effective awards campaigns Hollywood had ever seen.

The print media, however, appeared far more enthusiastic.

Newspapers across the country celebrated the film’s remarkable performance. Critics praised its witty screenplay, lavish production design, and affectionate tribute to theater and romance.

Entertainment magazines hailed it as proof that sophisticated romantic films could still compete with large-scale war epics and prestige dramas.

Yet beneath the glowing coverage, a growing number of industry observers whispered that Miramax’s relentless Oscar campaign had become impossible to ignore. Harvey Weinstein’s aggressive lobbying, endless screenings, private dinners, and advertising blitz transformed the awards race into something closer to a political election. To many moviegoers, the praise felt genuine. To others, especially supporters of Saving Private Ryan, it felt as though Hollywood’s loudest campaign had drowned out the real conversation.

As Oscar season entered its final stretch, the race appeared increasingly divided. On one side stood Saving Private Ryan, the critically acclaimed war epic that many believed represented the pinnacle of cinematic achievement. On the other stood Shakespeare in Love, the surprise frontrunner whose extraordinary nomination haul had turned it into the darling of much of the entertainment press.

Caught in the middle was The Sixth Sense—the supernatural phenomenon that had exceeded every expectation and forced Hollywood to take a genre film seriously.

Whether it could convert those nominations into victories remained uncertain, but one thing was undeniable:

The Academy had made it clear that The Sixth Sense was no longer merely a blockbuster.

It was now an Oscar contender.

On March 21, 1999, the 71st Academy Awards ceremony officially kicked off at the Dorothy Chandler Pavilion in Los Angeles, California. It stood as the paramount, star-studded event of the global entertainment calendar. 24 golden Oscars rested in the wings, waiting to define careers and alter legacies.

The plush red carpet stretched out toward the street, flanked by towering golden Oscar statues and lined with hundreds of screaming fans and photographers. It featured a parade of the most handsome men and beautiful women on the planet, all dressed to intimidate and impress. Tom Hanks, Bruce Willis, Julia Roberts, Jennifer Aniston, Meg Ryan—one after another, the elite of the elite walked the carpet, greeted by deafening screams and the blinding, strobing flashes from the press corps.

The female stars, adorned in glamorous evening gowns worth more than most houses, naturally outshone the men in standard tuxedos. They engaged in an unspoken, cutthroat competition for beauty and elegance.

An open secret circulated that many of these women began liquid-only diets a full week before the ceremony just to fit into their restrictive gowns. Some even refrained from eating a single bite or drinking a sip of water during the entire ceremony to avoid bloating or an embarrassing wardrobe mishap on international television.

The atmosphere in the crisp Los Angeles evening air felt electric, thick with anticipation and nervous energy. The Dorothy Chandler Pavilion provided the perfect, historic stage for this grand spectacle. The Oscars prepared to begin in one hour.

At that moment, a sleek, black Maybach slowly pulled past the security barricades and parked smoothly at the primary drop-off point in front of the red carpet.

The rear door opened, and Marvin stepped out.

He wore a razor-sharp, custom-tailored light blue suit, a striking visual departure from the sea of uniform black and white tuxedos. His appearance immediately drew the eyes of every reporter and fan within a hundred-foot radius. The deliberate, confident choice of the light blue suit highlighted his striking good looks and made an instant, undeniable statement to the fashion press.

Despite his age of thirteen, Marvin possessed the gravitas to easily subvert the traditional dark tuxedo dress code adult men felt strictly bound to at such a conservative event.

The pale blue fabric perfectly matched the blue hue of his eyes, cut with precision to highlight his developing proportions. At roughly 1.6 meters tall, he no longer possessed the awkward, uncoordinated frame of a child; he looked well-balanced, lean, and athletic. It resulted from a conscious, mana effort by his soul to ensure his physical vessel developed correctly to look natural on screen for demanding, mature roles like the ones he planned for *Hide and Seek* and *Let The Right One In*.

He neatly combed back his dark brown hair. His marble-like, flawless pale skin, paired with his increasingly chiseled jawline and high cheekbones, made him look less like a teenager and more like a priceless Greek sculpture brought to breathing life.

”Marvin! Marvin, look here!” the crowd of photographers shouted in a discordant chorus, waving their heavy cameras eagerly over the velvet ropes.

Marvin offered a slow, composed smile, his eyes casually surveying the chaotic crowd. Just as the handlers and publicists assumed he would begin his solitary walk down the red carpet, he stopped. He bent down gracefully and stretched out his arm back toward the dark interior of the open car door.

A sudden hush fell over the press line. ’Did someone else sit in the car?’ The reporters leaned forward, hungry for a headline. ’Did he bring another female companion to the Oscars? Is it Scarlett Johansson again? Is Beyoncé here? Or somebody entirely new?’

Amid the rapidly rising curiosity, a delicate, pale white hand, adorned with a ring, placed itself gracefully on Marvin’s offered arm. A long, smooth leg stepping out of the shadows of the Maybach immediately followed.

A dazzling, familiar figure emerged into the California twilight.

The press pen erupted.

”Nicole Kidman?! How in the world did she end up walking the red carpet with Marvin?” a reporter from *Variety* gasped, elbowing his cameraman to get a clear shot.

”No wonder Tom Cruise walked the carpet alone twenty minutes ago!” a tabloid journalist hissed, rapidly writing in her notepad. ”I thought they would at least try to put up a united front tonight!”

”Wait, didn’t they just announce a deal? It looks like Marvin, formally introducing his new leading lady for that movie!”

”Yes, *The Others* or something! The kid wrote and funded it, and even Cruise’s production company confirmed they bought in!”

On the crimson carpet outside the Dorothy Chandler Pavilion, Nicole gripped Marvin’s arm securely as she stepped fully out of the car.

Under the brilliance of countless camera flashes and harsh television lights, Nicole looked radiantly beautiful in a breathtaking strapless evening gown that seemed designed to celebrate every inch of her statuesque figure. The dress clung elegantly to her body, its fitted silhouette emphasizing her narrow waist and graceful curves before flowing downward into a dramatic mermaid skirt.

Delicate floral embroidery in deep burgundy and wine-red tones spread across the shimmering fabric like scattered rose petals, creating a striking contrast against the soft champagne-colored base beneath. Layers of intricate lace and textured ruffles framed the neckline and cascaded around the lower half of the gown, giving it an almost ethereal quality while adding a touch of old-world romance.

The strapless design left her elegant shoulders and slender neck completely exposed, drawing attention to her flawless complexion and the cascade of copper-red hair spilling over one shoulder in soft waves. Every movement caused the embroidered fabric to catch the light, producing subtle flashes of gold, crimson, and bronze.
