Reborn As Super Heiress

Chapter 596: Chapter 594: Not from the Song Dynasty

”Your mother should be under fifty, right? How could she contract such a disease?”

Huo Sining was somewhat puzzled, considering Zhao Yuliang’s age, Aunt Zhao shouldn’t be that old, so how could she have suffered such a serious illness as a cerebral hemorrhage?

”She was enraged by my aunt. Not long ago, my father met with an accident and passed away. My aunt then incited my uncle to make trouble at our house. My mother had already suffered a great deal, and she was stimulated again, resulting in high blood pressure, and she fell ill on the spot.”

Zhao Yuliang tried his best to restrain his emotions, but such successive shocks made it somewhat difficult for him to maintain control. It wasn’t hard to hear the anger in his voice.

This was a family matter, and Huo Sining didn’t feel it was his place to interject, he could only sigh inwardly and found an excuse to change the subject:

”I just noticed that pair of jade cups you have are really nice. It just so happens that my cousin and I want to find something to take back for my cousin as a birthday present. Could I take a look at those jade cups of yours?”

Zhao Yuliang had already noticed that the attire of Huo Sining and Su Qingqing was different from that of ordinary girls, and he had guessed the intent behind Huo Sining stopping him.

Thus, upon hearing what Huo Sining said, Zhao Yuliang didn’t have any further thoughts. He nodded, looked around, and said, ”Let’s go up to my place, it’s a bit chaotic here.”

Huo Sining nodded understandingly and, holding onto Su Qingqing’s hand, quickly followed Zhao Yuliang through several alleys until they reached the front door of his house.

Upon seeing the pair of jade cups in the box again, Huo Sining found it a bit hard to restrain the excitement in his heart.

The cups looked so exquisite, proving that their owner must have cherished and taken great care of them, the affection was evident.

There was a frontier poet in the Tang Dynasty named Wang Han, styled Ziyu.

Some might not be familiar with this name, but Wang Ziyu’s eternal masterpiece ”Liangzhou Verse” is certainly well-known to many.

Luminescent cups of fine wines with grapes divine, Strumming for a drink on horseback chimes, In drunken stupor on the battlefield, one may find, Through ages of war, how many ever return in time?

This poem was regarded by Wang Shizhen, a luminary of the Ming Dynasty, as the crown jewel of the seven-character quatrains from the Tang period. Liangzhou, the place depicted in the poem, was an important stronghold along the ancient Silk Road, historically known as ”the ancient capital of Western Liang.”

”Silver Wei fortress under Western skies, People and mulberry trees thickly lie. Chariots and horses crisscross, songs and flutes freely fly.”

The culture of Western Liang runs deep, with grapes being one of its most significant elements, hailed as the homeland of Chinese wine.

Where there is fine wine, how could one lack the cups? But unlike Westerners who use stemmed crystal glasses to savor red wine, inhabitants of the Western Regions preferred jade cups for their grape wine.

Luminescent cups forever brim, The crimson wine slowly poured and twinkling within the crystal-clear jade cups, shining bright whether in green or in white.

Even those who are the least romantic would surely pause a moment with the luminescent cup in hand before the wine reaches their lips, captivated by its beauty.

”These cups date back to the Song Dynasty and are so well preserved that it’s evident your family holds them in high regard. If you really sell them, won’t you regret it?”

Huo Sining didn’t reach for them but instead looked at Zhao Yuliang with a hint of pity, posing the question.

”To be honest, these cups were passed down to me by my grandfather. When he was on his deathbed, he entrusted these cups to me and told me their origin and history. Although our family has lived an ordinary life over the years, we never considered selling these cups for money. If it weren’t for my mother’s sudden illness, I wouldn’t have...”

Zhao Yuliang’s eyes were also filled with a deep sense of reluctance, after all, these were the only keepsakes his grandfather had left him.

It was unfortunate that his family had met such a great crisis, and he had no choice but to take this last resort.

After all, antiques were inanimate objects, but people were alive. He could never preserve these inanimate objects at the expense of saving his mother’s life.

Huo Sining couldn’t help but sigh upon hearing this. She did indeed have money, and to her now, tens or hundreds of millions were merely trivial.

But her acquaintance with Zhao Yuliang was after all not deep, and even claiming to know his uncle had been a lie to him. If she were to suddenly offer to lend him money, Huo Sining estimated that, given Zhao Yuliang’s character, he probably wouldn’t accept it.

Thinking this way, Huo Sining’s hand subconsciously stroked towards the edge of the jade cup.

With this touch, she couldn’t help but shiver all over.

The Luminescent Cups were made of Lantian white jade, and the carvings on the outside of the cups were meticulously crafted, looking extremely natural.

The entire jade cup was as thin as paper and as clear as a mirror. The jade was smooth and lustrous, with a delicate texture that made it appear very spiritual, giving off a refreshing and simple feeling.

But to Huo Sining’s surprise, as soon as her hand lightly touched the cups, the abundant purple energy from the jade cups rapidly spread before her eyes, which nearly made Sining cry out in shock.

Generally speaking, the older the item, the more abundant and pure the purple energy it carried.

To verify the accuracy of this conclusion, Huo Sining had specially conducted numerous tests in recent times, visited many museums, and also some Antique Streets, using the Heavenly Eye Skill to scrupulously examine genuine items from various dynasties.

The intensity of the purple aura shrouding the antiques represented the age of the antiques, and Huo Sining had come into contact with antiques from different periods, ranging from Yin and Shang Dynasties to the Republic of China, and had summarized many patterns from them.

The density of the purple energy from antiques of any dynasty was something she could discern with just one glance through her Heavenly Eye.

That’s why, after touching the jade cup before her, Huo Sining’s eyes were filled with astonishment.

Clearly, the object she was touching was not a Song Dynasty jade artifact; it had to be something earlier than the Song Dynasty.

Earlier, when Huo Sining was at Antique Street, she had only looked at the pair of jade cups with her naked eye and had not handled them.

Basing her judgment merely on the appearance of the jade cups, coupled with Zhao Yuliang’s misleading words, Huo Sining had made an error in judgment, concluding that these cups were Luminescent Cups from the Song Dynasty.

However, the intense purple aura before her now told her that the jade cups were definitely not from the Song Dynasty, but very likely from the Five Dynasties and Ten Kingdoms, or even earlier.

This left Huo Sining speechless, as it turned out that she, Zhao Yuliang, and even Zhao Yuliang’s grandfather had all been mistaken.

But then she felt relieved, glad that Mr. Song, eager for a bargain and looking to find a steal, had refused to spend one million to buy the cups; otherwise, such fine jade artifacts would have been sold off cheaply.

With this thought, Huo Sining’s expression grew more serious, and she looked up at Zhao Yuliang, saying earnestly,

”Zhao Yuliang, it’s fortunate that you didn’t sell these cups today. I’m telling you, there’s a big problem with them!”

”What big problem! Is there something wrong with these cups?”

Startled by these words, Zhao Yuliang anxiously looked at Huo Sining.
