Reborn As Super Heiress

Chapter 575: Chapter 573: Bet on a Draw Again

The croupier began dealing cards, and after spreading them out to demonstrate fairness, he took the cards from the shuffling machine and used a long stick-like tool to push the cards one by one toward each betting player.

The first card was face up, the banker’s was the Heart 6, whereas Huo Sining received the Spade 4.

Then came the second face-down card. Huo Sining peeked at her card, it was a Diamond 3.

Which meant that Huo Sining’s final count with two cards was seven—a not insignificant number in the game of Baccarat.

If Huo Sining had bet on the Player winning, then with this hand, her odds of winning would have been very high.

Unfortunately, she had bet on a tie.

Huo Sining flipped over her face-down card and waited for the banker to reveal their hand.

The other players also turned over their own cards, each one fixating their gaze on the banker’s face-down card.

The banker showed their hand, and the banker slowly flipped over the card in front of him.

Seeing the bright Heart Jack, Ouyang Jun’s mouth fell open in disbelief, staring incredulously at the banker’s face-down card.

Out of a total of 416 cards, Huo Sining had bet on a tie; holding a seven, she could only win if the banker also pulled a Heart Jack to make it a draw.

Su Qingqing hadn’t expected that, against such slim odds, a tie would actually occur!

At the same table, those who lost were downcast, except for Huo Sining, whose face lit up with joy—her five-thousand bet on a tie had instantly become forty thousand! It was as if she’d blindly hit a jackpot, a stroke of dumb luck!

Her money had octupled in one go. Although Huo Sining hadn’t bet much, she had still made over thirty thousand.

In fact, most Baccarat players do not wager very large amounts, so Huo Sining’s win quickly drew the attention of many onlookers around her.

”Damn it, if I’d followed her bet on the tie just now, my ten thousand would’ve become eighty thousand!” the late lamenters began to grumble discontentedly.

”That’s nonsense. Could you have known what was under that card while it was still covered? All you do is talk. If there’s another tie in the next game, do you have the guts to follow with ten thousand before the cards are flipped?” someone scoffed at the hindsight critics for being unrealistic.

”It’s just luck. That girl won this round, but probably next round a lot of people will follow her lead!” There were also voices of reason who saw right through the unlikelihood of the event.

Seeing that she had suddenly won over thirty thousand, Su Qingqing was quite excited, while Huo Sining maintained a calm face, devoid of much joy.

To Huo Sining, such minor gambling was hardly exciting. She could wager on a piece of rough jade and make it into tens or even hundreds of millions in just minutes. Thus, she didn’t take such gambling to heart.

It wasn’t that she didn’t want to win; if she truly had wanted to, she could simply have used the Heavenly Eye Skill to see through the shuffling machine and review each and every card. Her bets would have been spot on, but she disdained to cheat in such a way.

So for the second round, as soon as the croupier finished shuffling, Huo Sining unhesitatingly put all eight of her newly won chips back on the tie without a second thought.

Those who had already made up their minds to follow Huo Sining’s bets, upon seeing her action, all hesitated.

With a look reserved for lunatics, they all shared one thought—had this girl gone mad for money?

”Damn it, I wanted to keep some of my wife’s dowry, and now another tie bet, I’m out!”

”I’m out too. If it really comes to another tie, it’d be a miracle! She thinks luck is her father!”

”Right, even if you’re on a hot streak, you can’t just blindly place bets. If we follow this, we’re bound to lose a fortune—who would dare to follow?!”

”Greed will swallow more than a snake can handle—just watch, she’ll be crying soon!”

An 8-to-1 payout ratio; everyone knows what it means. A single dollar could multiply by eight. Who wouldn’t want to make that easy money? But they also knew how slim the chances were of a tie occurring. If it happens once, you’re already insanely lucky—how could it happen consecutively?

Huo Sining was clearly handing her money to the casino; no one with half a brain would follow Huo Sining’s bet.

Those who had initially gathered behind Huo Sining, hoping for an easy win, got scared off seeing her bet on a tie again. They sulkily went off to place bets in other areas.

The tie betting area had only Huo Sining’s lonely eight chips stacked up.

”Ningning, why did you bet on a tie again?” Su Qingqing was anxious. The chances of consecutive ties in Baccarat were lower than a pie falling from the sky.

Yet, Huo Sining had a carefree smile as she said, ”It’s all just betting on luck anyway; might as well give it a try. Isn’t that what I do when I gamble on stones—bet on luck?”

”But...” Su Qingqing wanted to say more, but by then, the croupier had already pushed two cards in front of Huo Sining.

Her face-up card was a Diamond Eight; Huo Sining couldn’t be bothered with the face-down card.

The croupier had a Heart Seven as his face-up card. He looked at Huo Sining’s cards, then grew nervous. He hesitated for a moment but eventually dealt another card.

Many spectators around them hadn’t placed a bet, but there was no shortage of onlookers with wide eyes, eager to see the commotion. Those who hadn’t gotten any advantage were waiting with schadenfreude to see Huo Sining lose her money.

Huo Sining wasn’t burdened by those messy thoughts; after all, it was a small gamble. Besides, she had won these chips back, so she could afford to lose this money. She just found it fun and wanted to test her luck, so without much thought, she flipped over the second card directly.

A Spade King. Huo Sining only had a total of one point, causing everyone to burst into laughter.

”One point, it’s really just one point—see, I told you she couldn’t be that lucky, betting on a tie again. She’s definitely going to lose big time!”

”The banker still has two hidden cards, why the rush? Maybe it really is a tie.”

”You’re joking, right? I’ve played Baccarat for years; the likelihood of getting four to eight points is the highest. We rarely see such low points like one, two, three, especially one—it’s even harder!”

Everyone was pessimistic about Huo Sining’s bet on a tie. The croupier’s lips couldn’t help but twitch when he saw Huo Sining had placed all her chips on a tie.

Losing $300,000 wasn’t a significant issue on the third floor and above, but on the second floor at this Baccarat table, such a large number was definitely rare.

The croupier relied on tips and commission to make a living. Although his table wasn’t particularly busy, he could still earn quite a bit in a day.

However, if he paid out too much to the gamblers, it was very likely that he would be taken off the roster, missing out on the chance to deal. Without dealing, he would earn nothing. So the amount the banker earns at the table directly relates to his job and future.
