Reborn As Super Heiress

Chapter 573: Chapter 571: Trip to Xiangjiang

The next morning, Huo Sining and her two companions hurried back to Ruili nonstop because it was the day the gemstone bidding at Ruili was scheduled to begin.

The bus journey from Tengchong back to Ruili took six hours, and by the time Huo Sining and her friends arrived in Ruili, it was already past 2 p.m. The bidding had been underway for four hours, and most of the sealed bids had already been opened.

Upon learning that Huo Sining and her group had returned, Bai Yishan eagerly called Huo Sining, ”Where are you guys? Hurry to the gemstone bidding building!”

”How did it go, did we win those two pieces of rough stone?” As soon as Huo Sining and the others arrived at the gemstone bidding building and found Bai Yishan, she couldn’t help but anxiously ask.

Bai Yishan immediately showed a smug expression, ”Of course! You don’t know, after the news about you betting on stones with the Gambling King’s granddaughter went viral, that Gambling King, Liu Chongren, felt he lost face and left with his granddaughter that very day.”

”With the Gambling King gone, those who originally wanted to follow his lead were at a loss, so the two gems you mentioned drew no attention. I was going to bid 25 million on the forty-nine number slot following your suggestion, but in the final three minutes before the bidding started, I changed my mind and bid only 20 million. The other piece of black mossy material was even less noticed; I only bid 1.2 million, and we won both!”

Huo Sining originally felt a little relieved when she heard that they had won both bids from Bai Yishan, but she was somewhat surprised by the latter part of the statement.

It was just a gamble with Liu Yuxuan, and she hadn’t expected it to have such a huge impact on this Ruili bidding session.

Huo Sining felt somewhat guilty, fearing that she would run into Du Qingting again at the bidding building, which would be embarrassing.

After all, it was because of her that this session of the Ruili gemstone bidding suffered heavy losses, so she couldn’t help feeling a bit embarrassed. After some thought, she felt it was best not to stay too long and decided it would be better to leave soon. The group agreed and planned to return to S City that evening.

Around five o’clock in the afternoon, Ouyang Jun called.

Without Huo Sining there, he and Qin Tian had won only one of the five bids they competed for, and the stone they got ended up breaking when they cut it, which was a heavy blow for both Ouyang Jun and Qin Tian.

When Ouyang Jun learned that Huo Sining and her group were preparing to head back to S City, he was quite puzzled, ”The Ruili gemstone bidding doesn’t end for another week. Although the sealed bids have been opened, the open bids and betting tags haven’t been concluded yet. Why are you guys going back so soon?”

Huo Sining felt slightly embarrassed, but she still shared Bai Yishan’s words with Ouyang Jun.

”There’s nothing much to see with the open bids and betting tags. Anyway, I’ve made enough profit this time, and it’s been quite exhausting. It would be better to go back and relax properly.”

Ouyang Jun and Qin Tian exchanged looks, then suddenly made a suggestion, ”You still have some leave from school, right? How about this, Qin Tian and I are planning to go to Hong Kong. Why don’t you come with us and have some fun?”

Huo Sining was somewhat surprised, ”To Xiangjiang?”

Ouyang Jun nodded, ”Yes, Qin Tian and I have some business there, and we plan to stay and have fun for three days. Xiangjiang is a shopping paradise; you girls should like it.”

Huo Sining was still hesitant, but Su Qingqing, who had sharp ears, perked up at the mention of going to Xiangjiang. She couldn’t help clapping her hands excitedly and chimed in:

”Going to Xiangjiang? I’ve been wanting to go! It’s perfect timing; we can shop in Hong Kong, and visit Disney, too! And we can swing by Ao City while we’re at it!”

Su Qingqing’s opinion could be outright ignored. Huo Sining had wanted to refuse, but when she turned her head, she found that even Bai Yishan and Jiang Xiaoqin seemed somewhat interested. Helplessly, she had no choice but to nod in agreement.

Ouyang Jun and Qin Tian planned to leave the next morning, so Huo Sining and the others had to delay their departure by one more day.

Since this trip wasn’t planned in advance, the five of them didn’t have their Hong Kong and Macau travel permits ready.

However, Ouyang Jun took care of everything with one phone call to Gu Xu. When Gu Xu heard that Huo Sining and her friends were going to Xiangjiang, he simply said, ”Got it,” and hung up the phone.

By the time Huo Sining and the others boarded the flight to Xiangjiang the next day, their travel permits had already been delivered into their hands.

Despite the hectic days in Ruili, it didn’t dampen their enthusiasm for visiting Xiangjiang at all. After getting off the plane, they checked into a hotel not far from the Xiangjiang shopping center.

Since they were staying for only three days, Ouyang Jun and Qin Tian went off to take care of their own business, while Huo Sining and the other women headed straight for Causeway Bay, scouring the streets for all sorts of great finds.

After a day of shopping, they were willing to call it quits only when they could no longer carry the things they bought; Wu Jun had it even worse. Accompanying the women shopping and acting as a porter, his wrists and neck were laden with bags.

Back at the hotel, Su Qingqing was still brimming with excitement. The goods in Xiangjiang were just too cheap. If it weren’t for the fact that there was too much to carry, she would have wished to move the whole street.

Sorting through the things they bought, Su Qingqing examined them carefully while saying, ”The women in Xiangjiang are so lucky, with cheap designer brands all over the streets for the taking. I’m so envious and jealous.”

Huo Sining couldn’t help but laugh and cry at her words, ”That might be the only good thing, though. Why don’t you mention Xiangjiang’s housing prices, taxis, food? They’re exorbitantly expensive. For outsiders to settle down here, it’s even harder than becoming a drift in the capital.”

The next day, Huo Sining took Jiang Xiaoqin to visit Disney, and then they went on a shopping spree in Tsim Sha Tsui. When Ouyang Jun and Qin Tian returned, they were shocked at the sight of the huge pile of stuff Huo Sining and the others had bought.

So, never underestimate a woman’s buying power. If something is good and the price is right, a woman won’t care whether she needs it or not, she’ll buy it and take pride in thinking she got a bargain.

On Huo Sining’s recommendation, they shipped their purchases back to S City and took another sweep through the snacks. In the afternoon, they took a ferry to Ao City.

Compared to Xiangjiang, Ao City is much smaller. Whether it’s urban development or city scenes, it falls far short of Xiangjiang, but Ao City’s casinos are truly grand. Just seeing the glittering entrance is enough to tell how luxurious it is inside.

Huo Sining had some reservations before arriving, but once she got to Xiangjiang and Ao City, she was no longer in a hurry and fully immersed herself in enjoyment. In San Ma Lo and around the Ruins of St. Paul’s, they looked around and did another round of shopping. Then, urged on by Ouyang Jun and Qin Tian, the group of seven entered the Grand Lisboa Casino in Ao City.

Although Xiangjiang and Ao City are very close, they are quite different when it comes to gambling.

People in Xiangjiang love to gamble, especially on horse racing. This is Xiangjiang’s most famous industry, known as a lottery but actually a form of gambling, which is said to accompany many Xiangjiang people’s lives.
