Reborn As Super Heiress

Chapter 554: Chapter 551: Liu Yuxuan’s Gambling Challenge

Upon hearing Huo Sining’s words, Liu Yuxuan’s face immediately became extremely ugly, as if Huo Sining was mocking her.

Liu Chongren was also somewhat annoyed. Even though there was no hint of ridicule in Huo Sining’s tone, he always felt that Huo Sining’s words, both explicit and implied, were belittling him. His expression quickly darkened, and his gaze toward Huo Sining sharpened.

In all fairness, Huo Sining was frustrated. She really didn’t have any other intention and certainly didn’t mean to mock Liu Yuxuan, but this grandfather and granddaughter from the Liu Family were just too sensitive!

However, at times like this, even if Huo Sining cried innocence, no one would believe her.

It was not surprising that the Liu Family’s grandfather and granddaughter were overthinking, considering that Liu Yuxuan had suffered a loss at Huo Sining’s hands and inadvertently gave Huo Sining a great deal of advantage.

Now, of all things, Huo Sining had brought up the subject of the jadeite gambling square again, instantly making the Liu Family’s elders feel as if Huo Sining was flaunting her victory in front of them. How could they not be angry?

Even Ouyang Jun and Qin Tian, following behind Huo Sining, felt somewhat caught between laughter and tears. This girl seemed so astute, so why would she have such a lapse at a time like this?

Seeing that the grandfather and granddaughter seemed offended and embarrassed with anger, Qin Lianshan, noticing Liu Chongren’s discontent, quickly tried to smooth things over with a smile:

”I forgot to tell you that my visit here isn’t just for participating in the jadeite gambling event; there’s something else I need to handle. Could you make some time the day after tomorrow to accompany us?”

Huo Sining was taken aback upon hearing this and subconsciously looked over at Ji Kun.

With so many people present, Qin Lianshan couldn’t speak too openly and could only point towards Ma Liwen and his group in the corner, saying:

”Those individuals are experts from the Imperial Capital Museum, here in Yun Province to handle an important matter. Let them explain it to you.”

Huo Sining nodded, and the seated experts stood up to lead Huo Sining into the adjacent lounge. These people were somewhat skeptical of Huo Sining.

But since the girl was personally requested by the museum authorities, even though the experts were doubtful, they couldn’t afford to neglect her and recounted the entire backstory to her.

It turned out that not long ago, Yun Province’s anti-drug special police discovered tomb robbers smuggling cultural relics near the border with Myanmar. Due to the border’s particularity, the smugglers escaped to Myanmar, and the special police only captured a few of the accomplices, with the main culprits remaining at large.

The smugglers weren’t caught, but those cultural relics couldn’t just be lost. After investigating, the special police found that these relics had appeared around the Yingjiang area of Yun Province before entering the Tengchong antique black market.

At the same time, they received information that a black market auction would take place in a few days in Tengchong, and the police suspected that those cultural relics would be disposed of there.

The Forbidden City hoped that all those cultural relics could be fully recovered, but as to how much confidence there was in this outcome, no one really knew.

The issue had caused quite a stir at the top levels, so much so that even Qin Lianshan and Zhou Shitao were alerted. Under Zhou Shitao’s command, Qin Lianshan brought Ji Kun along with several museum experts and professors personally to Yun Province.

”What exactly are those cultural relics?” Huo Sining asked curiously.

”In fact, we ourselves aren’t clear about what specific relics there are. The captured tomb robbers aren’t core members of the trafficking group and don’t know much. We only have a rough idea that the gang of tomb robbers stole from a thousand-year ancient tomb, which reportedly still contains a hanging coffin.”

Ji Kun offered a wry smile as he explained.

”If that’s the case, you all can go. There’s no use in finding me,” Huo Sining said, somewhat puzzled. ”I can’t help you guys anyway.”

Ji Kun smiled and said, ”This was the master’s idea. He wants you to attend the Tengchong black market for a couple of reasons. First, to broaden your horizons, and second, because you’re a lady, no one will suspect you even if you enter the black market. The museum hopes you can enter the black market and bid on those lost cultural relics. Money is not an issue; just focus on the auction. There will be someone outside to meet you afterward.”

Huo Sining then understood. These people wanted her to go undercover.

However, Huo Sining truly found it hard to refuse. Since the master had intervened, it meant he thought she should be involved. Plus, she had never seen the black market before and was very curious about those cultural relics.

”Alright, I agree. I’ll follow the arrangements when the time comes.” Once she understood what was going on, Huo Sining readily agreed.

”Is everything clear now?” Seeing Huo Sining walk out of the reception room, Qin Lianshan eagerly asked. Seeing her nod, Qin Lianshan’s face broke into a smile full of wrinkles. ”Good, you’re straightforward, girl. Gu Xu has a good eye.”

Huo Sining was somewhat speechless. Are you praising me or Gu Xu here?

”Since it’s decided, let’s go. We’re going to look at the rough stones. My place could really use a jade ornament. It’s a good opportunity to see if there are any good pieces.”

As the chair of the Jade Association and an expert in jade gambling, Qin Lianshan hadn’t participated in the jade markets for many years, but today he was quite enthusiastic, pulling Huo Sining along to check out the pieces up for auction.

Ignored grandly by their grandfather Qin Lianshan, Qin Tian and Ouyang Jun immediately felt disheveled by the wind. They had been standing in the room for so long, but Qin Lianshan didn’t give them a glance. He treated them like air while showing boundless enthusiasm for Gu Xu’s wife.

Ouyang Jun and Qin Tian felt a wave of gloom and exchanged a look before silently following their elder.

With Qin Lianshan leading the team, Liu Chongren didn’t dare to show off, and the others from the Jade Association certainly couldn’t fail to accompany him. A large group from the Jade Association surged into Hall 2, turning a simple viewing of the rough stones into something resembling an inspection.

Huo Sining was somewhat speechless, so she deliberately slowed her steps and dragged behind with Su Qingqing and a few others.

”Hey, Ningning, what did you talk about with those experts in the reception room just now?” Su Qingqing nudged Huo Sining’s shoulder, asking curiously.

Huo Sining smiled and said, ”They’re taking me with them to Tengchong the day after tomorrow.”

”To Tengchong? For what?” Su Qingqing was somewhat puzzled.

”They didn’t say.” It was a matter of great importance, so Huo Sining dared not speak carelessly and had to keep it to herself for now.

Su Qingqing was not thick-headed. Clearly, Qin Lianshan had asked Huo Sining if she had agreed, which definitely indicated some issue was at hand.

But since Huo Sining didn’t want to say, Su Qingqing didn’t press further. However, she couldn’t help guessing to herself that with so many experts from the Forbidden City involved, it must be no small matter, and perhaps it was related to cultural relics.

Just then, Ouyang Jun suddenly came over and said to Huo Sining, ”The old man is looking at a piece of unmarked rough stone with Liu Chongren up front. He says he wants you to come over and give your opinion, and he also mentioned something about you betting with the Gambling King’s granddaughter.”
