Reborn As Super Heiress

Chapter 584: Chapter 582: The Crow’s Mouth

Huo Sining followed Su Qingqing to Antique Street and was about to walk inside when the girl suddenly veered towards a nearby bank:

”Almost forgot to withdraw money, otherwise it’d be such a hassle to have to come back later to get cash after seeing something I like.”

Su Qingqing certainly hadn’t forgotten how last time in the Imperial Capital, Ma Liwen missed out on a set of exquisite enamel simply because he didn’t have cash on hand, so she didn’t forget to drag Huo Sining to the bank to get money before heading into Antique Street.

As she said this, she took out a bank card and flashed it in front of Huo Sining, then happily hopped towards the ATM.

However, once she entered the 24-hour self-service ATM area, she realized something was off—there wasn’t a soul in the room.

”Strange, how come there’s no one withdrawing money today?” Su Qingqing felt somewhat puzzled.

On Antique Street, there were always many local collectors and tourists looking to treasure hunt and grab a bargain, which meant there was an endless stream of people withdrawing cash at the bank—it was common to see long queues here, unlike the emptiness she saw today.

”It’s because the ATM is broken,” Huo Sining said nonchalantly after a brief glance.

Su Qingqing leaned in to look and indeed, there was a sign next to the ATM stating in bold letters: Machine Malfunction, Service Temporarily Suspended.

Su Qingqing’s expression instantly fell: ”This is just my luck.”

”Let’s go to the counter instead, there’s plenty of time,” Huo Sining smiled and pulled Su Qingqing towards the bank counter.

Unexpectedly, as soon as they walked into the bank, Su Qingqing couldn’t help but take a deep breath: ”What’s going on today, why are so many people withdrawing money?”

The banking hall was full of people clutching their queue numbers as they waited to withdraw cash; Su Qingqing had no choice but to take a number and sit quietly in the hall.

”The machine is broken, so all these people can only come to the counter to withdraw money. Counter transactions are more complicated, definitely more time-consuming than ATMs, which is why the crowd just keeps building up.”

Huo Sining didn’t seem to mind at all. After all, treasure hunting wasn’t rushed, so she simply shook her head with a smile and took a seat behind Su Qingqing in the hall.

”The armored van is here.” Upon hearing the sound of a vehicle outside the bank, many people in the hall looked out.

Huo Sining and Su Qingqing also couldn’t help but lift their heads and glance out through the floor-to-ceiling window, when Su Qingqing suddenly said with a laugh, ”If someone robbed an armored van, they wouldn’t have to worry about money for the rest of their life.”

This girl spoke without thinking, and quite loudly at that, causing many nearby people to hear her comment. A group of onlookers glanced over, and even the two security guards standing in the bank hall couldn’t help but look in Su Qingqing’s direction.

Su Qingqing seemed unperturbed, but Huo Sining’s mouth twitched involuntarily, and she felt like she was breaking out in cold sweat.

Big sister, what on earth are you thinking? Your dad is a respected Secretary, and your brother is the president of Su Group’s Donghua. Does your family lack money that much? Planning to rob an armored van—are you out of your mind?

Huo Sining shook her head helplessly, about to chide with a smile, but before she could open her mouth, suddenly there was a loud ”bang” outside, followed by a scream, and shortly after, several more gunshots.

Su Qingqing’s expression froze instantly, she subconsciously looked towards Huo Sining, and a bitter smile couldn’t help but appear in Huo Sining’s eyes, though she was cursing silently in her heart, ”Damn it, could this be any more timely? Is this the so-called ’crow’s mouth’ curse, summoning the dragon?”

Just then, another loud noise erupted as the glass of the bank’s main door was struck by a bullet, shattering into countless fragments and scattering across the floor of the lobby.

There was silence in the bank, but just at that moment, someone suddenly let out a piercing scream, and in the blink of an eye, the stunned crowd regained their senses, as more screams filled the hall, plunging the bank into complete chaos.

”Ah, it’s a robbery, someone’s dead!” A few sharp-eyed individuals saw the armored car driver shot and killed inside the vehicle, his blood splattering all over the car window, immediately turning pale with fright and shouting out loud.

People in the bank scattered in all directions, panicked, terrified, afraid, scattering like headless flies.

The alarm bells sounded abruptly at this moment.

”Don’t panic, everyone find a corner and crouch down! Don’t move, and don’t run outside, it’s more dangerous out there than in here!” yelled a bank staff member.

But this only underestimated the people’s fear, this shout made several people, scared for their lives, panicked, and on impulse, they bolted straight for the door, trying to escape amidst the chaos.

However, at that moment, several more gunshots rang out, and the one at the forefront fell backward on the ground, shot once in the chest and once in the forehead, with blood gushing out, immediately filling the air with the stench of blood.

The rest who were ready to flee were dumbfounded, screaming in unison, instinctively dropping to the ground and covering their heads, their bodies twitching and shaking uncontrollably.

Su Qingqing was clearly terrified as well, grabbing Huo Sining’s hand and clinging onto it tightly.

Huo Sining’s face was also somewhat pale, she had only seen gunfights on television, and having lived twice, the only time she had touched a gun was during military training for freshmen, which was obviously trivial and insignificant.

The power of firearms was not small, she had Space and Invisibility Technique, she could certainly make a clean escape, and even take Su Qingqing away silently without issue.

But so many people had seen them withdrawing money at the bank, and they were even recorded by the internal surveillance, if she were to leave rashly, she might attract suspicion from the police afterward.

With this in mind, Huo Sining had no choice but to force herself to remain calm, she glanced at Su Qingqing, who was pale and frightened next to her, squeezed Su Qingqing’s hand tightly, and quietly pulled her, crouching into a corner inside the bank lobby, leaning against the wall and slowly squatting down.

Facing this sudden incident, Huo Sining also felt unsure inside, guns have no eyes, now she couldn’t take Su Qingqing out, they could only quietly wait for the police to rescue them, so now hiding in the corner to protect themselves was the most appropriate.

At this time, the people inside the bank waiting to withdraw money finally realized what had happened, someone was robbing the armored car.

The gunshots had all happened outside the bank, and it was easy to guess that the robbers and the armed police escorting the armored car were in a shootout, everyone thought that the robbers were only after the armored car, and as long as they did not go outside, the criminals would leave after robbing the money.
