Reborn As Super Heiress

Chapter 588: Chapter 586: Hesitant to Act for Fear of Affecting Something Valuable

Zhao Chunhui suddenly raised his head, revealing an expression uglier than crying:

”Don’t tell me, this girl is the one who was taken into custody by Hu Changlin’s brother-in-law last year, causing an uproar that involved military, government, and police forces, even deploying special forces.”

Fu Yuanshan didn’t say anything, but the look in his eyes that he gave Zhao Chunhui was very clear. That’s right, congratulations on guessing correctly, but unfortunately, there’s no reward.

Zhao Chunhui’s face fell. He hadn’t felt that the situation was very serious before, but now, hearing that one of the people trapped in the bank was somebody untouchable, his heart dropped, as if he had lost his ancestors, and he inwardly cursed how terrible this was.

If this girl were to suffer any mishaps during this robbery, then his position as the Chief would probably come to an end too.

Fu Yuanshan’s mood was not much better than Zhao Chunhui’s. Zhao Chunhui was unaware of Huo Sining’s status, but he was very clear about it.

Though Fu Yuanshan held his post in S City, he was originally from the Imperial Capital. He had gone back to the Imperial Capital for the New Year holidays and heard from a spoilt scion of a hereditary family that this niece of Secretary Su, not only had her legacy acknowledged by the Huang Family, but she had also caught the favorable attention of the Zhou and Lu Families. One had taken her as an apprentice, and the other had accepted her as a goddaughter.

The Zhou and Lu Families, what kind of families were they? If an ordinary person could get on their good side, their status would immediately surge. Huo Sining was an orphan, yet she quietly received recognition from these two families, a clear sign that she was a formidable character.

Moreover, this girl was also the Gu Family’s chosen bride, affecting three prominent hereditary families in the Imperial Capital. Fu Yuanshan was very clear in his mind that if this girl suffered any mishap on his watch, he would definitely not escape unscathed.

He walked out of the surveillance room with heavy steps. At that moment, a SWAT officer hurriedly ran over from outside: ”Director Fu!”

”What is it?” Fu Yuanshan frowned.

”The robbers inside sent out a message. They’re asking us to bring them some food and drinks, and they want a car provided. Also...” The SWAT officer hesitated, stammering for a while before finally speaking, ”They also want us to load the over ten million in cash from the armored truck into the car they asked for!”

Upon hearing this, Fu Yuanshan couldn’t help but sneer: ”A man meets his death for wealth, just like a bird dies for food. At a time like this, these people are still thinking about money. They sure have the nerve. Did they say anything else?”

The SWAT officer nodded: ”They also said they’re giving us half an hour to get ready. If we can’t meet their demands within half an hour, they will...”

At this point, the SWAT officer’s complexion turned pale, and his voice trembled: ”They will start killing one person every ten minutes until we agree!”

Upon hearing this, both Fu Yuanshan and Zhao Chunhui fell silent at the same time.

They knew that the gang of robbers was not bluffing, for from the very beginning, these people had come with the intent to kill and rob. They had already killed two police officers, and a civilian who escaped from the bank had also met a violent end.

With three lives already on their hands, for these robbers, killing one more or killing ten made no difference.

”Go prepare the car and load the money from the armored truck into it!” A cold glint flashed in Fu Yuanshan’s eyes. ”Have the sniper on standby at all times. Once they come out of the bank, on my command, shoot to kill without exception; we absolutely cannot let them harm others!”

The SWAT officer, having received his orders, hurriedly turned to leave. But Zhao Chunhui suddenly said, ”What if they retreat in batches, still holding hostages?”

Zhao Chunhui understood Fu Yuanshan’s intent. He wanted to first meet the robbers’ demands to lure the four of them out and then have the snipers eliminate them all at once.

But given the robbers’ ruthless and decisive behavior, they were not foolish. Since they dared to make such demands, it was unreasonable for them to expose themselves to the snipers.

Fu Yuanshan was taken aback, realizing he might have made a fundamental mistake, and sighed deeply: ”For now, we can only take one step at a time. We can’t delay any longer, or else those people might start killing again. Let our people act according to the situation.”

Inside the bank, everyone’s faces were filled with fear. They had all clearly heard the conditions proposed by the robbers during negotiations with the police. If the police failed to meet their demands, they would kill one person every ten minutes.

Waiting was both the longest and the hardest ordeal to endure. Thinking that they might actually die there, some people went from initial panic to complete emotional collapse, sobbing softly and gradually moving to cover their mouths and crying loudly.

These cries broke down many people’s psychological defenses, and the remaining people also showed mournful expressions, each knowing they might not escape their fate. Cries and pleas rose and fell throughout the bank.

The robbers, hearing the crying, immediately frowned. Four Eyes shouted to silence them, but no one listened.

The burly man, losing patience, pointed his gun at the people in the corner: ”If anyone else dares to fucking cry, I’ll be sure to kill that person first after half an hour!”

The crying stopped abruptly; nobody dared to cry anymore. Even those who were sobbing uncontrollably now fearfully clamped their mouths shut, not daring to make a sound.

All was quiet. Satisfied, the burly man was about to put away his gun when, at that moment, a ringing phone came from the hand of a woman to the left of Huo Sining.

Everyone was startled, and the burly man’s sinister eyes turned toward the source of the sound.

”Bring out the phone!”

The burly man seemed to have discovered something, his eyes narrowing as he moved closer to the woman.

The woman, dressed in professional attire, had her handbag on her lap. Huo Sining had not noticed her at first, but when the phone rang, she looked in the direction of the woman.

It was a shock not to see her before, but now it was a shock to recognize her.

Auntie Li always watched the S City metropolitan channel’s news each evening, so Huo Sining had occasionally glanced at it as well.

Since acquiring the Water Repelling Pearl, Huo Sining’s memory had improved significantly. Once she had seen a person, she could usually remember them upon seeing them again.

If she remembered correctly, this woman should be a star field reporter for the S City TV Station, whom Huo Sining had seen many times on the metropolitan channel, covering news wherever it broke, a profession shared with Huang Hanyun, her cousin from the Huang Family’s extended family.

This female reporter was usually out in the field gathering news, responding to alerts only to go out with the police, but she could never have imagined that she would find herself caught in a bank robbery like this.
