Reborn As Super Heiress

Chapter 586: Chapter 584: The Robber

The bank was silent as a graveyard, everyone’s heads were bowed, and no one even dared to breathe too loudly for fear of attracting the attention of the robbers and becoming their next victim.

Su Qingqing was scared and silently blamed herself for impulsively insisting on dragging Huo Sining to Antique Street to hunt for treasures and then stopping by the bank to withdraw money.

If only she were discussing that ancient painting with Huo Sining in the villa area at this moment, how could she have ended up in such a situation? If she hadn’t insisted on bringing Huo Sining along, Huo Sining wouldn’t be facing such danger in the bank.

Thinking this, Su Qingqing instinctively looked up and glanced at Huo Sining with guilt.

Huo Sining was frowning and watching the four robbers, and upon noticing Su Qingqing’s gaze, she quickly looked down and offered a reassuring smile.

Su Qingqing’s heart settled slightly, and she silently prayed to the heavens, hoping that this ordeal would be over soon.

Su Qingqing thought as long as she and Huo Sining stayed quiet, they would definitely be safe.

However, Huo Sining wasn’t so optimistic, because she knew very well that these people likely hadn’t planned thoroughly. Since the robbery hadn’t gone as planned and they couldn’t flee, they had fled into the bank and taken the civilians inside as hostages to confront the police.

If the police relentlessly pursued them, these desperate robbers could very well harm the people in the lobby.

The stocky man glanced at the people cowering in the corner and said coldly with a gun in hand, ”I advise you all to stay put and not to entertain any foolish ideas. Otherwise, guns have no eyes, and I can’t predict who among you will be lying dead next!”

It was clear that the stocky man didn’t take the people huddled in the corner seriously; he turned his head and shouted to another lookout, ”Biaozi, what’s the situation outside now?”

”Boss, there are more cops now, but they’re just hovering around without much activity. However, I think it’s getting harder to get out than it was at first. Those cops are crafty, and there might be snipers hiding in some corner!”

Biaozi’s tone was notably filled with blame. If they had escaped in the chaos earlier, they might have had a chance. Now, holed up in this bank, they could do nothing but wait for the end.

”Escape?!” The stocky man sneered, ”I’ll just sit here comfortably; I don’t believe they would dare to storm in here! Biaozi, you keep a sharp lookout. If the cops make a move, we will make an example out of someone. I want to see who is more ruthless, them or me!”

Hearing this, the people huddled against the wall were terrified, instinctively shrinking further into the corner.

Huo Sining held Su Qingqing’s hand, feeling her palm wet with cold sweat. She was also anxious, but looking at the robbers, she felt conflicted.

All four robbers were big and strong men, and clearly, they were desperados, each one not to be underestimated. Without certainty of overpowering them, she didn’t dare to make her move, as their gunfire could likely harm innocents.

Biaozi was fraught and became anxious upon hearing the stocky man’s words, ”Boss, stubbornly holding out like this isn’t a solution either. Those cops are tough opponents. We are only four people; we can’t just keep this standoff going forever, we need to find a way out!”

The stocky man sneered coldly, but did not bother with him. Instead, he walked over to another accomplice and asked coldly, ”Four Eyes, what the hell is going on here? Why did the cops show up in droves just a few minutes after Mouse killed that driver?!”

The man called Glasses, wearing black-framed spectacles, started trembling all over when he heard what the stocky man said, ”Boss, are... are you suspecting me of ratting us out?”

The veins popped out on the hands of the stocky man gripping the gun, and his eyes, sharp as a hawk’s, stared intently at Glasses:

”Aside from the few of us, no one else knows the route. The rest of the brothers have all faced life and death with me, and all have blood on their hands from past crimes—only you have a relatively clean background!”

Glasses shuddered at those words, but his gaze remained fairly composed, ”Boss, you’re wronging me, I really didn’t leak anything. If I were the mole, let the cops shoot me full of holes! I’ve been in the same boat as you guys for a while now. Although I haven’t gotten blood on my hands, that doesn’t make me any cleaner. If I told the cops about this, what good would it do me? Isn’t that right, Biaozi?”

His last sentence was directed at Biaozi, who had previously complained about the stocky man. Now, hearing the stocky man start to suspect a mole within the gang, Biaozi’s gaze darkened even further, nodding as he said:

”Boss, now’s not the time to be suspecting each other. We need to focus on finding a way out! Mouse is already dead, and it looks like Four Eyes is the only one left who can drive!”

Biaozi was the most intelligent in the gang, and seeing the vicious look in the stocky man’s eyes, he had to intervene even though he knew there might be a problem with Four Eyes. Fearing the stocky man might kill Four Eyes on a whim,

without a driver, their escape would be much harder, trapping them here. So, he had to remind the stocky man of this.

When Biaozi said this, the stocky man’s heart chilled, and he took a few steps back to look outside, cursing under his breath, ”Damn it, this was supposed to be airtight, how did it come to this?!”

Ah Wei, the guy with the outrageous hairstyle, also seemed scared upon hearing this, and suddenly looked as if he’d thought of something, hurriedly explaining:

”Boss, it’s very likely the traffic cop who stopped us this morning let it slip. When Mouse was driving, that cop stopped him to check his license. There wasn’t any fuss then, but I suspect that cop recognized Mouse and knew he was up to no good!”

The robbers were discussing this inside the bank without hiding it from the crowd, clearly not taking these ordinary citizens seriously—after all, with guns in their hands, they never thought these people, powerless to truss a chicken, could be any threat.

The stocky man, upon hearing Ah Wei’s words, could only offer a bitter laugh, ”Truly motherfucking unlucky! We shouldn’t have gotten greedy! We already had over ten million in hand, and it would all be over if we had driven off after getting the few more million that Mouse said was in the bank!”

While the stocky man was cursing his fate, Biaozi, who was on lookout, suddenly shouted, ”Boss, another car’s coming. Looks like some high-ranking officer. Fuck their mothers, a truck of special police has come, too!”

At this, the stocky man’s expression changed drastically, ”What?! How did we draw the attention of the SWAT team?”

Not just the stocky man, but Ah Wei with his exaggerated hairstyle and the glasses-wearing robber were all taken aback, their faces filled with panic, ”Boss, what do we do?”
