Reborn As Super Heiress

Chapter 578: Chapter 576: Ting Shai vs Heavenly Eye

Song Xiaochen was born into a gambling hereditary family and had been dealing with gambling since childhood, mastering chiefly the art of dice. More importantly, he spent nearly thirty years learning the unique skills of his father, Song Lifeng, and refining those skills to perfection.

This unique skill was Ting Shai, the art of listening to dice.

It could be said without exaggeration that Song Xiaochen’s Ting Shai was even better than his father Song Lifeng’s ability, surpassing the blue from which it came. Not to mention betting on the size; even when betting on the specific number of dots, he could hold a stable chance of winning.

Huo Sining saw the odd expressions on the faces of Ouyang Jun and Qin Tian, slightly puzzled, but judging from Song Xiaochen’s happy appearance, she could roughly guess that she had inadvertently encountered Song Xiaochen’s specialty.

However, Huo Sining wasn’t worried at all. Even if it was his specialty, how could it matter? Could Song Xiaochen’s ordinary human eyes possibly outperform her Heavenly Eye?

Once the betting colors and methods were agreed upon, the staff quickly brought over the gambling equipment: two black dice cups and three bone dice.

To prevent cheating, Song Xiaochen even asked Huo Sining to check the authenticity of the dice, though she didn’t know how to verify it and simply threw them a few times to make sure they didn’t always land on the same side.

Sitting down at either side of the table, a croupier piled up fifty million in chips in front of each of them, naturally using the casino’s largest denomination chips.

At two million each, the fifty million in chips amounted to just twenty-five in front of them, which didn’t look like much.

”Does Miss Huo plan to shake the dice herself, or would you like to designate someone to do it?”

Song Xiaochen asked with a smile. For him, shaking the dice himself was clearly preferable, as he could produce the numbers he wanted.

However, if Huo Sining chose someone else to shake, then he, the banker, wouldn’t want to bully a woman – it wouldn’t look good if word got out.

To Huo Sining, it didn’t matter who shook the dice. Even if someone tampered with them, she would see it.

So she pointed casually and said with a smile to Ouyang Jun and Qin Tian, ”You two decide who will shake the dice.”

Ouyang Jun and Qin Tian demurred a bit, and in the end, they decided Qin Tian would step up. On Song Xiaochen’s side, a croupier was chosen, each taking a position at the table, with Ouyang Jun responsible for calling the shots.

The croupier Song Xiaochen had chosen was a waiter, who, when not busy, would also play a few small hands of baccarat on the second floor below, but this was his first time being involved in such high-stakes gambling on the fourth floor, and shaking dice for Song Xiaochen no less, which left his hands somewhat uncontrollable.

The croupier trembled as he threw the three dice into the cup and then fumbled to place the cup on its base. By the time he finished, he was so nervous that his forehead had begun to sweat slightly.

By contrast, Qin Tian was much calmer. They had anticipated the worst outcome when they came to discuss a collaboration with Song Xiaochen, and since Song Xiaochen had already made clear his difficult situation within the Song family, they couldn’t press too hard.

Now that Song Xiaochen had suddenly proposed a gamble with Huo Sining, Qin Tian and Ouyang Jun held no expectations. They took it as a last-ditch attempt; they wouldn’t be surprised if Huo Sining lost, but if she won, it would be a welcome surprise.

Therefore, Qin Tian was very steady, without any signs of undue worry or fear of loss.

”Begin,” Huo Sining said indifferently, seeing that the two men shaking dice were ready.

Song Xiaochen nodded, and at Ouyang’s command, the two men immediately began to vigorously shake the dice cups up and down, the collision of cups and dice ringing out clearly.

”Stop!” Ouyang Jun raised his hand, and the shakers promptly halted the dice cups on the table. After a few clear sounds, the dice inside came to a complete rest.

”Please guess the size and whether it’s odd or even.”

The so-called guessing of big or small in this context means that one, two, three are considered small, and four, five, six are big. When the three dice are added together, totals above nine points are big and below nine are small. Guessing odd or even refers to guessing the oddness or evenness of the sum of the three dice.

In front of Huo Sining and Song Xiaochen, there were betting areas marked with the characters for ”big”, ”small”, ”odd”, and ”even”; all they needed to do was place their bets.

As soon as the dice shakers on both sides stopped, Huo Sining had already seen through the Heavenly Eye the contents of the two dice cups: hers showing one, four, five, totaling ten points, and Song Xiaochen’s showing two, three, six, totaling eleven points.

Since they were guessing the oddness or evenness and the size of the points in each other’s dice cups, as soon as Qin Tian stopped shaking, Song Xiaochen did not hesitate to throw two chips into the betting areas for even and big.

Huo Sining raised an eyebrow and, pretending to look the part, she held two chips in her hand, deliberately appearing indecisive.

Seeing this, Song Xiaochen immediately laughed and said, ”Time waits for no one, Miss Huo, you better make your decision quickly.”

Huo Sining nodded her head, feigned hesitation, and then bit her lip as she placed two chips on the spots for odd and big.

This was a rule agreed upon beforehand: the smallest chip was worth two million, so this round alone was four million. Whoever ran out of chips first would be considered the loser.

Seeing Huo Sining looking as if she was facing a formidable enemy, so unlike her calm and composed self during the Baccarat game on the second floor, Song Xiaochen’s brow furrowed slightly. He glanced at Huo Sining but did not say anything.

”Open the cup!”

The dice cup was opened, and indeed, there was one odd and one even. Song Xiaochen said nothing, but Su Qingqing, who was watching the game, was overjoyed, happily giving Huo Sining a thumbs-up.

Ningning seemed to also breathe a sigh of relief as a smile appeared on her face and she said to Song Xiaochen with a laugh, ”It seems my luck isn’t too bad.”

Song Xiaochen did not respond as both parties continued to shake the dice. It was then that Huo Sining noticed something unusual about Song Xiaochen. While Qin Tian and the croupier were shaking the dice, Song Xiaochen’s eyes were fixed intently on Qin Tian’s shaking dice cup, and his left ear twitched slightly.

Seeing this, Huo Sining was immediately astonished.

She had always thought that the abilities portrayed in films were just fictional, and she never imagined that in real life someone could develop the skill of listening to the dice through specialized training.

If that were truly the case, it would be a bit difficult for her to win against Song Xiaochen in today’s game.

In the second round, Huo Sining guessed odd and small, while Song Xiaochen bet on even and big, and again it was a tie.

Song Xiaochen’s expression was starting to look somewhat displeased. He had always been exceptionally successful at the casino, especially with dice, which had always been his proudest skill.

For him, correctly guessing the oddness or evenness and the size of the dice was naturally not a problem.

But this woman, who appeared to be a complete novice, had guessed the outcome right for two consecutive times, which both surprised and made Song Xiaochen suspicious.

Could it really be that this woman was just lucky?

The third round, the fourth round...

After a total of twelve rounds, both were able to guess correctly simultaneously, resulting in no winner or loser.
