Reborn As Super Heiress

Chapter 555: Chapter 552: Ill-intentioned Visitor

”I know, I’ll head over right now,” Huo Sining nodded.

”I think Liu Chongren is still holding a grudge against you for extracting the Jade Heaven Bead from that piece of waste material, which, after all, you won from his granddaughter. He’s definitely looking to use this gambling event as a chance for her to even the score with you, Ningning. You should be careful,” Bai Yishan analyzed.

Upon hearing this, Huo Sining’s steps faltered, and she let out a light laugh, a hint of mockery flashing in her eyes. She said with a faint smile, ”Even the score? Well, that depends on whether she has the skill. Let her come at me with all she’s got!”

Arriving at the front where a crowd had gathered, Qin Lianshan, Liu Chongren, and Du Qingting were indeed present, along with many old experts and seasoned stone gamblers. They were all discussing the piece of raw stone material, apparently debating something fiercely.

”Miss Huo, what’s taking you so long? You’re moving slower than us old men,” complained Qin Lianshan to Huo Sining, though his eyes twinkled with amusement.

Huo Sining, however, had already been captivated by the raw stone material in front of her. She casually explained, ”I apologize, Elder Qin, I was just engrossed in looking at a label in the back and didn’t keep up with the group.”

After saying this, she walked over to the raw stone material and asked, ”Elder Qin, is this the piece you were talking about?”

Qin Lianshan nodded, ”Yes, it’s this piece. We’ve all had a look, but no one is sure about it. Your opinion would be helpful. We were thinking of just making a wild guess, but Lao Liu’s granddaughter doesn’t agree. She’s quite serious about her tasks; saying that if we’re going to gamble, we should do it for real. We have no objections, it’s just up to you, the person involved, to agree or not.”

Hearing this, Huo Sining raised an eyebrow. Was Liu Yuxuan challenging her because she was young yet already carrying a renown reputation and wanted to show her up?

Elder Qin’s words were watertight. While he seemed jovial on the surface, his real intent was probably to have Huo Sining demonstrate her expertise to these old specialists, so they could assess her true ability.

”Since Miss Liu has made a statement, it wouldn’t be nice for me to refuse. It should be my honor to match skills with the Gambling King’s granddaughter. We’ll do as you suggest, Elder Qin. I just wonder how Miss Liu intends to gamble?” Huo Sining asked with a smile.

Liu Yuxuan looked at Huo Sining and said with a smile, ”It depends on whether Miss Huo dares to bet.”

”What would Miss Liu like to bet on?” Huo Sining clearly sensed hostility, which piqued her curiosity, wondering what kind of trick Liu Yuxuan was planning.

With a smile on her face but only coldness in her eyes, Liu Yuxuan declared, ”We’ll bet on the grade and color of the water in this material. Whoever loses won’t be able to set foot in the domestic jade public plate ever again!”

What?!

Such an audacious bet left the onlookers stunned, and even Liu Chongren’s face changed instantly. He was surprised and caught off guard by the stakes his granddaughter had set.

Elder Qin’s expression stiffened; the previously cheerful demeanor vanished completely as he looked back and forth between Liu Chongren and Liu Yuxuan. He was extremely unhappy with the aggressive approach the grandfather and granddaughter were using to push Huo Sining into a corner by leveraging his invitation to bully the younger generation.

”But it’s just a small bet; surely there’s no need to go this far?”

”Exactly, this is too much. This was supposed to be fun and lighthearted, but it feels like it’s turned into a matter of life and death?”

”Not setting foot in the jade public plate for a lifetime, does the young Miss Liu feel threatened and is trying to nip Miss Huo in the bud?”

”Who wins and who loses is yet to be determined, but I actually think Miss Huo is quite capable. After all, she has solved for the Heavenly Bead and imperial green.”

”So what? Finding High Jade in Mogang Rock involves a lot of luck. No matter how skilled Miss Huo is, can she really compare to the Gambling King’s granddaughter? Born and raised in a Stone Gambling Family, she’s been immersed in jadeite gambling all her life, surely more experienced than Miss Huo.”

...

Amidst the buzzing of the crowd, Liu Yuxuan seemed to not hear any of it. She stared straight at Huo Sining, and seeing that Huo Sining did not speak, she couldn’t help but show a teasing smile and asked provocatively, ”What’s the matter, Miss Huo, got cold feet?”

”Yuxuan, this is ridiculous!” Liu Chongren pretended to scold from the side.

Although Liu Chongren feigned anger and attempted to stop Liu Yuxuan, Huo Sining still sharply caught a fleeting gleam of connivance in his eyes.

She couldn’t help but scoff inwardly, knowing that this grandfather and granddaughter were just putting on a show for everyone. And judging by their confidence, she feared there might be some trick she was unaware of with this marked piece.

With this thought, the corners of Huo Sining’s lips couldn’t help but curve with cold amusement.

She was not one to shy away from danger. If this pair had intentionally laid a trap for her, it was clear they were grasping at straws, hoping to turn the tables, so she would not hold back!

”Me, scared? Why should I be frightened, especially when I’ve already won a round against you, Miss Liu,” Huo Sining said with a faint smile. ”What I want to know is, what’s your stake, Miss Liu?”

”We’ll make it a written bet!” Liu Yuxuan instantly felt a surge of secret joy. She had been waiting for Huo Sining to say just that. As long as Huo Sining agreed to the gamble, her goal would be accomplished.

Liu Yuxuan never considered the possibility of losing, because they had come to the dark bidding area an hour earlier to inspect the piece. Her grandfather had studied it for close to ten minutes, and now she knew very well about the raw jadeite material.

”Fine, we’ll put it in writing, and let the elder experts present bear witness!” Huo Sining agreed without a second thought.

Seeing Huo Sining accept without rejection, Liu Yuxuan scoffed, ”You seem very confident, agreeing without even thinking it over. Aren’t you worried at all?”

Huo Sining chuckled, ”Why should I worry? Even immortals struggle to evaluate jade. Who wins and who loses, we can only know after the bet!”

What a joke. If you can afford to risk even your grandfather’s reputation as the Gambling King, what do I have to be afraid of?

Huo Sining had already guessed that the raw jadeite material likely had something to do with the Liu Family, but so what? With the Heavenly Eye, no matter what the material, it was as if transparent to her.

If she still lost under these circumstances, then she really wouldn’t need to bother attending any more domestic jadeite auctions or gamble on jadeite ever again!

Nobody expected such a turn of events. What was presumed to be just a jest took a serious turn when Liu Yuxuan proposed such a stringent wager, and most incredibly, Huo Sining actually agreed to it!

This immediately stimulated the sensory nerves of the crowd. Surprise flashed in everyone’s eyes, and soon the news of the bet between the Gambling King’s granddaughter and the Mysterious Miss Huo spread throughout Hall Number Two. Many of the jadeite bettors watching the bids in the main hall started to gather around this area.
