Reborn As Super Heiress

Chapter 585: Chapter 583: Bank Robbery

People comforted themselves, and gradually, the panic and agitation cooled down. One by one, they imitated Huo Sining and Su Qingqing’s actions, slowly crouching down in the corner of the bank and hiding.

The two bank security guards were also frightened pale. They weren’t formally trained at a police academy but were ordinary people hired from society, whose daily duties barely qualified as maintenance of security. They were meant only to maintain order in the lobby.

Even though they had gone through danger management training during their onboarding, they always thought a robbery was something far removed from their lives.

They had never imagined that someone would actually come to the bank with guns to rob it. Seeing the scene unfold, they were so terrified that they wet themselves and trembled as they hid in a corner, not daring to maintain order anymore, let alone stick their heads out again.

Although Huo Sining was somewhat scared, perhaps because she had the Water-Repelling Pearl and the ability of Space, her mental resilience was now much stronger than that of ordinary people. After hearing the gunshots, she just gave a slight start, without panicking, and her complexion remained as calm as usual.

On the other hand, Su Qingqing, who usually had a bold and careless personality, turned pale and stiff, looking utterly terrified.

Huo Sining sighed inwardly and couldn’t help whispering to Su Qingqing, ”The good never comes to pass, and the bad never fails. Those robbers probably think like you do, hoping to rob a truckload of cash and live comfortably for the rest of their lives.”

Huo Sining’s words successfully diverted Su Qingqing’s attention. Though she was scared, hearing Huo Sining’s teasing made her feel even more frustrated. She glanced at Huo Sining with annoyance and said,

”I was just talking casually, who knew we’d be so unlucky! What do we do now? We’re not in danger, are we?”

Gently patting Su Qingqing’s hand, Huo Sining smiled and said, ”There definitely won’t be any trouble, the police aren’t pushovers.”

However, no sooner had Huo Sining finished speaking than the sound of gunfire outside grew even more intense, and the noise got closer.

Suddenly, there was another loud bang, and another pane of the bank’s large glass doors shattered.

Glass shattered by bullets scattered all over the floor as several people rushed clumsily into the bank from outside.

Seeing that the ones who burst in were not police officers but were armed, everyone immediately realized these were the robbers, and screams of panic filled the lobby.

Hearing the screams, the robbers who had charged in frowned sternly. One of them, a man with a face full of horizontal scars, fired a shot into the ceiling and looked around the lobby with a fierce expression, warning loudly, ”Anybody dares to scream again, and I’ll blow their brains out!”

Instantly, the entire lobby fell silent. Everyone became as still as cicadas in winter, trembling with fear, yet no one dared to make a sound, almost holding their breath for fear of drawing the robbers’ attention.

Huo Sining frowned and carefully raised her head to look at the intruders.

There were four robbers in total, each holding a gun. After they burst in, two of them cautiously observed the situation outside, while the other two pointed their guns at the people crouching in the lobby.

The scar-faced man who had fired earlier scanned the interior of the bank, and his gaze turned icy upon seeing the locked teller counters. Suddenly, he pointed at the two security guards shivering in the corner and barked, ”You two, get out here!”

Huo Sining now realized that this man, judging by his expression and the tone in which he was giving orders, must be the ringleader of the four robbers.

Moreover, Huo Sining clearly saw that the man had a gunshot wound on his shoulder, which he had casually tied up with a strip of rag; blood was still flowing down the shoulder. Yet the man appeared indifferent, his complexion unchanged. He was obviously ruthless, and very likely a desperado.

The two security guards, having been called out, looked around and saw that everyone was desperately shrinking back, wishing they could find a crack in the ground to hide in, which instantly brought a look of misery to their faces. They shakily stood up.

As the two security guards approached, the burly man with a face full of flesh suddenly raised his foot and kicked towards them, sending both guards tumbling to the ground as they failed to react in time.

”Where are the people from inside that counter?” the burly man asked in a cold voice.

Only then did everyone realize that the bank staff behind the counter had already fled after triggering the alarm, leaving behind just the two junior security guards and a group of civilians with nowhere to escape.

Seeing the empty space behind the counter’s iron railing, those who were being held at gunpoint felt waves of anger and annoyance, cursing continuously.

The faces of the two security guards darkened instantly. Without a doubt, they realized they had been sacrificed.

”Behind... the counter back door has an escape passage...” one of the security guards stammered out an explanation.

Upon hearing this, the robber ringleader curved his lips in a mocking sneer, ”Isn’t a bank a service industry? Don’t they believe the customer is god? How come at a time like this, they abandon god and run for their lives?”

The security guard, with the robber’s gun pressed against his forehead, was on the verge of collapse inside. Hearing the man’s sarcasm, he didn’t dare to retort, and could only plead with the ringleader, ”We’re just junior security guards, temporary hires with no authority at all, please don’t kill us!”

”Kill you?” the burly man scoffed, ”Not right now. But if you don’t follow orders, that’s another matter! The both of you, squat by the door!”

The two security guards exchanged glances, hesitating and not daring to move forward. Seeing this, the burly man immediately cocked his gun and coldly threatened them, ”What? You don’t want to?”

At the sound of the gun being cocked, the two security guards trembled all over in fear, not daring to disobey, and shakily made their way to the door.

”There, squat down, put your hands behind your heads, hurry up! Don’t even think about running, or else I’ll let you try to see which is faster, your legs or my bullets!”

The burly man barked an order. Seeing the security guards comply with his commands and squat down, he nodded in satisfaction, then shouted towards a man looking out the door, ”A Wei, keep an eye on them! Whoever dares to run, blow their head off!”

A dark, skinny man, no more than twenty-three or twenty-four years old, with hair dyed in a colorful punk style, held a gun and kept watch outside. Hearing the burly man’s order, he quickly acknowledged, pulled the slide on his gun producing a loud clack, and then pushed the two security guards, causing them to stagger and almost fall again.
