Reborn As Super Heiress

Chapter 591: Chapter 589: Fragment?

Su Qingqing’s memory was completely out of sync with everyone else’s, so upon hearing this man’s words, she became even more confused.

Why couldn’t she understand a word this man said? Had she really missed such an exciting moment in just the blink of an eye?

But she had been staring wide-eyed the whole time, not going anywhere, not even zoning out. How could she have seen nothing?

With doubts in her heart, Su Qingqing didn’t feel it appropriate to ask more questions. She could only bury her suspicions and look bewilderedly at everything unfolding before her.

It wasn’t just Su Qingqing who was confused; Fu Yuanshan and Zhao Chunhui, who were in charge of the incident, were also puzzled and unclear about the actual situation.

”Has it been determined who did this?” Fu Yuanshan asked.

A nearby police officer who was questioning people shook his head and said, ”Director Fu, the citizens are also unclear. They didn’t see anyone attack them; they just knew that the robbers suddenly fell to the ground.”

Upon hearing this, Fu Yuanshan’s brows furrowed. He was about to ask in detail when a SWAT member came running over:

”Director Fu, these people were probably attacked with police pepper spray. Judging by the amount sprayed, it must have been a frontal attack, and the distance to the robbers wouldn’t exceed one meter.”

This SWAT officer specialized in police equipment; pepper spray, stun guns, and the like were all things they were extremely familiar with. So, after assessing the situation of the three robbers, he immediately reported to Fu Yuanshan.

Director Fu was momentarily stunned. The female reporter, who had somehow borrowed a cell phone, was filming and explaining everything. Upon hearing the SWAT officer’s words, her face was filled with astonishment:

”How is that possible? There was no one else in the lobby besides those robbers at the time. Besides, the robbers had guns—who would dare to get so close to attack them?”

Fu Yuanshan, who agreed with her, nodded and turned back to the SWAT officer, ”Is there any possibility that other tools were used for a long-distance shot?”

The SWAT officer shook his head: ”If it had been a long-distance shot, the pepper spray would have dispersed and the smell would have spread everywhere.”

”Moreover, this is inside a bank. There are no high points, making it impossible to meet those conditions. Even snipers would have difficulty aiming at the target, let alone using police pepper spray for a long-range shot.”

”Additionally, no tools used for the attack were found at the scene, so it could only have been a frontal attack, and the person took the pepper spray device with them.”

Fu Yuanshan frowned slightly, his gaze shifting with suspicion to the twenty or so rescued ordinary people behind him. The older ones were old, the younger ones were young, the few men that were there looked feeble, clearly not the type who would dare to act. He scoffed inwardly, dismissing the guess in his mind.

”Alright, set this matter aside for now. Have the citizens record their statements then console them and let them go,” said Fu Yuanshan, waving his hand to dismiss the SWAT officer.

Zhao Chunhui was also busy with the consoling work. Fu Yuanshan glanced at the citizens who were preparing to evacuate in an orderly manner and the medical staff tending to the victims. After a moment’s hesitation, he finally approached Huo Sining and Su Qingqing:

”Miss Huo, are you all okay?”

Huo Sining lifted her head, saw the visitor, and was taken aback for a moment before she remembered, ”You are, Director Fu?”

Fu Yuanshan nodded and smiled, ”I didn’t expect Miss Huo to still remember me.”

Huo Sining pursed her lips and smiled, ”I may not have other strengths, but I generally remember people I’ve met. Last time at the Luwan District Police Station, Director Fu helped out, and unexpectedly, it is Director Fu again coming to our rescue.”

Fu Yuanshan hardly dared to take credit and said awkwardly, ”That’s too kind, but today’s situation was purely coincidental. I don’t even know what happened, and those robbers were subdued.”

However, Huo Sining smiled and said, ”You can’t say that, without the police’s timely response, those robbers probably would have succeeded and escaped long ago. But it is quite strange, those robbers were so confident before, how suddenly they all fell to the ground and couldn’t get up?”

A look of puzzlement flashed in Huo Sining’s eyes, and it did not seem feigned.

Fu Yuanshan shook his head, ”I’m not clear about it either, but the police will definitely investigate it thoroughly. Miss Huo, you can rest assured.”

Huo Sining nodded, knowing that saying too much might give her away, she did not ask further.

Some police still wanted to take Huo Sining and Su Qingqing to the police station for questioning, but Fu Yuanshan waved them off and did not require Huo Sining and Su Qingqing to give a statement.

In Fu Yuanshan’s view, Huo Sining and Su Qingqing, two young girls, were slim and delicate, unable to withstand a single blow, and certainly not bold enough to confront several robust robbers armed with guns.

Therefore, Fu Yuanshan did not suspect Huo Sining at all. While other police officers were grilling every ordinary citizen lucky enough to escape death, Director Fu personally let the real ”behind-the-scenes helper” slip away.

Only after they left the bank did Su Qingqing completely relax, letting out a long breath and saying with lingering fear, ”That scared me to death, I thought I was going to die in the bank!”

Huo Sining smiled faintly, ”So shall we head back, or continue with our original plan to browse Antique Street?”

”Head back? Why would we go back?”

Su Qingqing widened her eyes and said unconcernedly, ”We’re so lucky, even encountering such a low-probability event as a bank robbery, and managing to get out of danger unscathed, proves that our luck must be good today. With such a good opportunity, we must go treasure hunting, maybe we’ll come across some rare treasures!”

Hearing that, Huo Sining was speechless. Su Qingqing really had nerves of steel. Even though she was terrified during the robbery, not even twenty minutes had passed, and she was acting as if nothing had happened.

”Alright, if you’re fine, then let’s go shopping.” Huo Sining reluctantly nodded in agreement. They crossed a street and turned into Antique Street, walking down the mottled bluestone path together.

Along the way, Huo Sining occasionally glanced at paintings and calligraphy, touched porcelain wares, and now and then cheated using Heavenly Eye to verify whether her real-life treasure appraisal skills had improved at all, seeming quite contented.

”Safety pendants for sale, genuine antiques! Come have a look, Ancient Jade for safety, jade pendants on sale!”

Walking by an alleyway, they suddenly heard a hawker’s cry.

Since the call was made by a little boy no more than seven or eight years old, Su Qingqing found it quite amusing and pulled Huo Sining toward the boy’s stall.
