Urban Martial Saint

Huang Ziqiang kept his eyes closed, shaking uncontrollably. However, after waiting for a while, he didn’t feel the expected pain. Surprised, he cautiously opened his eyes, only to see that Ye Qing had already put away his mountain-splitter knife.

Huang Ziqiang shuddered, hurriedly reaching to feel his head and shoulders to make sure he wasn’t hurt, and he finally took a long sigh of relief. However, it was his own fault for provoking death—seeing that Ye Qing didn’t chop him, he thought Ye Qing was too cowardly to kill, and his temper flared up immediately.

”Fuck, you think you’re so tough? Come on, chop me, chop me!” Huang Ziqiang pointed at his neck, saying, ”Aim right here, at the carotid artery. One strike could kill me. If you have the guts, chop away!”

Ye Qing didn’t chop; he merely kicked Huang Ziqiang in the chest. Huang Ziqiang flew back two or three meters, falling to the ground spitting blood, and struggled several times without being able to get up.

”I won’t kill you, but I can beat you once a month, every time making sure you lie in bed for a month!” Ye Qing said coldly looking at Huang Ziqiang, ”This way, you wouldn’t even need to get out of bed!”

Huang Ziqiang’s face changed color, as Ye Qing’s recent kick had broken several of his ribs, clearly showing Ye Qing had shown no mercy. He didn’t doubt Ye Qing’s words - if Ye Qing really wanted him to lie in bed for the rest of his life, he would be utterly powerless to resist.

Seeing that Huang Ziqiang didn’t dare speak, Ye Qing nodded in satisfaction. He had already planned to teach the Huang brothers a lesson; otherwise, once he left, these three would surely trouble Huang Fulin again. Moreover, Ye Qing wanted to establish an orphanage here, and if these three brothers caused trouble every day, his orphanage wouldn’t be able to operate smoothly.

Thus, he needed to subdue these so-called local thugs, so they would not dare to trouble him in the future.

Seeing Ye Qing act so dominantly, Da Fei’s underlings didn’t dare step forward even slightly. These were just some delinquent youths, not quite involved in the more severe underworld activities found in the city. Compared to people like Mad Dog, they were merely small-time troublemakers in Eryao Town, never up to anything major.

Frightened by Ye Qing, they now disregarded their supposed leader, just hoping Ye Qing would spare them.

Ye Qing slowly walked up to Da Fei, who, covering his face, hurriedly backed away, equally frightened by Ye Qing.

Ye Qing bent down to look at Da Fei, ”I will come here to Eryao Town often from now on. Will you welcome me?”

Da Fei’s face turned an ashen blue, he muttered lowly, ”Wel... welcome...”

”Good!” Ye Qing nodded, ”You’re Da Fei, right?”

”Ye... yes...” Da Fei looked at Ye Qing, unsure of what Ye Qing was planning to do, his calves still trembling, void of the courage even to run.

”What are you currently doing?” Ye Qing asked.

Da Fei, with a quivering voice, replied, ”Normally... we help transport goods for people; we... we have several trucks...”

Ye Qing: ”Can you transport sand and bricks?”

”Ah?” Da Fei was startled, saying, ”Can... can transport...”

”Good!” Ye Qing nodded, ”Starting tomorrow, come work for me.”

”What work?” Da Fei asked curiously.

Ye Qing pointed to a farm behind him, ”You’ll transport sand and bricks here. For the specifics, you can ask Elder Huang.”

”Ah?” Da Fei, even more surprised, stared blankly at Ye Qing, not understanding what Ye Qing meant.

”I’m building an orphanage, so I’ll have to construct buildings. As long as you do a good job, you can transport all the building materials we need here!” Ye Qing patted Da Fei’s shoulder, ”As for the price, it will be market rate, I won’t shortchange you.”

”Really... really?” Da Fei was overjoyed, such a good opportunity had fallen into his lap? They had gathered together because there was no work, and were just loafing around the town making a little bit here and there, barely making any income each month. Now Ye Qing was offering them such a great job, providing them with a new source of employment.

Ye Qing stood up, ”For the specifics on what is needed and the amount, go ask Elder Huang. Starting now, Elder Huang will handle the construction-related matters on my behalf. If there’s anything, you can go to Elder Huang, got it?”

”Un... understood... understood!” Da Fei repeatedly responded, smiling pleasingly toward the distant Huang Fulin. Now that Huang Fulin was managing these matters on behalf of Ye Qing, it meant he had to get in good with Huang Fulin if he wanted to make money.

Huang Fulin, who had often been bullied by these hooligans in town, found it a bit strange to see Da Fei acting so ingratiatingly. He walked over to Ye Qing, whispering, ”Boss Ye, this... such a big responsibility you’ve given me, I... I’m afraid I might not handle it well...”

”You just need to handle the finances; leave the building stuff to the construction team,” Ye Qing said, ”You know how much they should get paid each day; just make sure they receive it. Don’t worry about the rest!”

Huang Fulin then nodded; managing money wasn’t difficult for him. But what he did not know was that Ye Qing had his own deeper reasons for entrusting this task to him.

Although Ye Qing had injured Huang Fulin’s three unfilial sons, it was unlikely they would just let it go, and they might use some means to snatch Huang Fulin’s money in the future. Ye Qing had Da Fei and his group work here precisely to protect Huang Fulin.

Since they were paid by Huang Fulin, Da Fei and his group would naturally not stand by if the three unfilial sons tried to bully Huang Fulin again, thus Ye Qing wouldn’t have to worry about matters here.

Moreover, observing Da Fei’s demeanor, he had already started viewing Huang Fulin as his boss. If the Huang brothers dared to trouble Huang Fulin, he would definitely be the first to disagree!

Having arranged matters here, Ye Qing took out twenty thousand yuan and handed it to Da Fei. Ten thousand was for treating injuries, and the other ten thousand was a deposit. Starting tomorrow, when Da Fei began transporting goods here, they would settle wages daily, ensuring they were paid every day.

To outsiders, Da Fei and his group might seem prestigious, but in reality, the money in their pockets combined wasn’t even one thousand yuan. The sudden twenty thousand yuan from Ye Qing was a huge amount for them, and their excitement was palpable.

”Boss Ye, rest assured, we’ve got things covered here!” Da Fei, holding the money, vowed, ”We brothers will definitely not delay your project. Plus, we’ll take good care of Elder Huang. If those three bastards from the Huang Family think about troubling Elder Huang again, I’ll be the first to not let them off!”

Ye Qing smiled faintly; Da Fei was indeed a clever man, able to see what worried Ye Qing. Given time and training, he might well be capable of handling things on his own.

Having arranged everything, Ye Qing and his group then drove back to the city.

Ye Qing had spent fifteen million to buy Huang Fulin’s farm, of which he had already paid ten million— and that ten million was all Li Lianshan’s money. Fortunately, the Lin family had just paid Ye Qing ten million for building the orphanage, which he could now use to repay Li Lianshan.

Li Lianshan had been quite stretched financially; he spent fifty million buying the Southern Suburbs Dogfight Arena and lent twenty million to Ye Qing, depleting his savings. Moreover, the Dogfight Arena needed renovation, which would cost a substantial sum, a daily headache for him.

”Ye Zi, how’s the income from those fields of yours?” Li Lianshan asked Ye Qing.

Ye Qing responded, ”Not bad, around several hundred thousand a day.”

Li Lianshan, surprised, asked, ”Several hundred thousand? Per field, or all fields combined?”

”All combined of course!” Huo Pingping chimed in, ”If it were several hundred thousand per field, he’d have struck it rich by now!”

”What?” Li Lianshan’s eyes widened, ”Damn, Ye Zi, your few fields are the most profitable for the Fierce Tiger Gang. Even the worst performs sometimes reach one hundred fifty to one hundred sixty thousand a day, and the better ones can make five to six hundred thousand with no issue. You’re saying all ten fields together only make several hundred thousand a day? You’ve been swindled!”

Ye Qing nodded, ”I know!”

”You know, and yet you don’t hurry to fix this!” Li Lianshan said, ”If I were you, I’d change all the managers of those fields immediately. Damn, there should be a limit to greed; they’re embezzling ninety-five percent of the revenue, which is practically suicidal!”

Ye Qing shook his head, ”It’s not the right time yet.”

”And when will it be the right time?” Li Lianshan pressed, ”You can’t coddle these people. If this continues, your fields are bound to fail eventually.”

Ye Qing just smiled and remained silent. He had subtly warned those managers at the last meeting, but clearly, it had no significant effect, as they continued falsifying accounts and deceiving him. Dismissing them wasn’t difficult, but currently, Ye Qing had no one capable of managing those fields. If he fired all the managers now, the fields would be unable to operate normally.

Once closed for a period, rejuvenating business later would be challenging.

The immediate priority was to keep the fields running smoothly, so for now, Ye Qing wasn’t firing the managers. What he critically needed was to find someone able to oversee all the fields confidently, allowing him a free hand to overhaul them thoroughly. At that time, it would be the moment to settle scores with those who swindled him!

”Forget it, you always act so mysteriously; I can’t be bothered anymore,” Li Lianshan, seeing Ye Qing’s silence, changed the topic, ”The Southern Suburbs Dogfight Arena still needs renovations, and I plan to start soon. What do you think, should we hold a bidding conference or something, and invite a few capable companies to redo it?”

”Speaking of renovations, I do know someone who specializes in it,” Ye Qing suggested, ”How about I contact him for you, and you meet him personally?”

Li Lianshan asked, ”Is this person trustworthy?”

”Trustworthy!” Ye Qing nodded.

Li Lianshan, with a grand gesture, declared, ”Then no need to meet him, your reliable person must be right!”
