Urban Martial Saint

The youth waved his hand and said, ”That’s none of your concern. All you need to remember is that no matter who asks you, just repeat exactly what you told them before, and make sure you don’t slip up. That’s all!”

”Are you involved in some criminal activity?” the nurse asked worriedly, ”This matter involves a girl jumping off a building in a suicide attempt. I heard the doctor say that her injuries are quite severe. Even if she’s saved, she’s likely to end up in a vegetative state. We can’t get tangled up in this. Otherwise, if the police trace it back to us, we would be implicated too!”

”Don’t worry,” the youth reassured, ”This time, we are acting for justice!” He continued, ”That girl was driven to jump by someone. By doing this, we are providing clues for the police to catch the criminal, and that’s getting some justice for the girl.”

The nurse asked in surprise, ”How do you know who the murderer is?”

”Don’t worry about that,” the youth laughed heartily, patting the nurse’s shoulder, ”All you need to know is that if we pull this off, we’ll get three hundred thousand. With that money, we can get married!”

”Three hundred thousand?” The nurse’s eyes widened. The allure of such a substantial sum temporarily made her forget the risks involved.

”Yes, three hundred thousand!” the youth laughed loudly, embracing the nurse, ”With three hundred thousand in hand and helping to find the criminal, isn’t it a wonderful thing? Although we’ve made a false testimony, I guarantee you that the person you described is indeed the murderer, no doubt about it!”

”That’s fantastic!” the nurse exclaimed excitedly, ”When can we get the money? Do we need to do anything else? Just for saying a few words, we can get three hundred thousand?”

At that moment, an icy voice suddenly came from behind the car, ”Say a few more words, and you can get five hundred thousand!”

The youth and the nurse changed their expressions and hurriedly turned to look. They didn’t know when a man had appeared in the back seat of the car.

”It’s you!” the nurse cried out in shock. She recognized the man; he was the same Ye Qing who had asked her questions during the statement recording. But why was he here? And how did he get in the car without her noticing?

The youth still didn’t know who Ye Qing was; his face showed utter astonishment as he asked in a deep voice, ”Who... who are you?”

”You don’t recognize me?” Ye Qing said, looking at him, ”Weren’t you the one who had your girlfriend give me a fake testimony?”

”You... you... you are Ye Qing...” The youth’s face turned pale, well aware of what those two words represented. In Shenchuan City, even the likes of Li Wenyuan of Fu Bang and Shangguan Tian and Shangguan Qing of Tianqing Gang didn’t dare cross Ye Qing, which spoke volumes about his power!

Ye Qing said in a cold voice, ”Answer a few questions, and you can get five hundred thousand.”

The youth swallowed hard and asked with a trembling voice, ”What... what questions?”

Ye Qing asked sternly, ”Who is the person that forced her to jump?”

”I... I don’t know...” the youth said softly.

Ye Qing glanced at him and said, ”If you don’t get the five hundred thousand, you’ll have to pay with your life. So, you’d better answer my questions honestly!”

Scared to the point of shaking, the youth hesitated before admitting, ”It... it was someone named Chen He...”

Ye Qing asked, ”What does he do?”

The youth answered, ”On the surface, he’s a private detective, but in reality, he does a lot of things... including murder...”

Ye Qing frowned slightly and asked, ”How do you know it was him who did it?”

”That...” The youth glanced at Ye Qing and said in a low voice, ”Someone else told me...”

Ye Qing said coldly, ”The person giving you three hundred thousand?”

”Yes... that’s right...” the youth confirmed.

”Take me to him!” Ye Qing demanded assertively, leaving no room for the youth to object.

After hesitating, the youth, confronted with Ye Qing’s cold demeanor, finally gave up resisting.

The youth drove the car, taking Ye Qing to a budget hotel at the end of Hongfei Road.

”They... they’re in room 303 on the third floor...” The youth pointed to the hotel and told Ye Qing.

Ye Qing instructed, ”Take me up there!”

”You can go up by yourself...” the youth urged desperately, ”I... I can’t go up there. If they find out I brought you, they’ll never let me off...”

Ye Qing looked at him coldly and said, ”If you don’t take me up there, do you think I’ll let you off?”

The youth immediately lowered his head, staring at the hotel in front of him, hesitated for a long while, then clenched his teeth and said, ”I’ll take you up there, but you have to answer a question for me!”

”What’s the problem?” Ye Qing asked.

The young man glanced at the nurse beside him and said in a deep voice, ”How did you know she was deceiving you?”

The nurse was startled and said, ”What do you mean? What’s with that look? I don’t know what’s going on either. Are you suspecting me?”

The young man didn’t speak. He really suspected that his girlfriend had betrayed him. Otherwise, how could Ye Qing have followed this nurse to find him?

”You don’t need to look at her; she didn’t deceive you!” Ye Qing said, ”However, next time you lie, you’d best not make such obvious mistakes. Your girlfriend’s duty room is at least one hundred meters away from Wang Lili’s ward. The lights in the hospital corridor were very dim, so from one hundred meters away, how could she possibly see that person’s face so clearly?

Even to see that the person had a mole at the corner of his eye, do you think that’s possible?”

The young man and the nurse had a sudden realization. It turned out that Ye Qing had seen through the nurse’s deception. It seemed that they had made a mistake in their testimony, which the detail-oriented Ye Qing had caught!

”Any more questions?” Ye Qing asked.

The young man hung his head and said, ”I’m convinced by you now, alright, I’ll take you upstairs. But can you let my girlfriend go?”

The nurse was taken aback and urgently said, ”Xiao Ke, I’m not afraid of him, I’ll go with you!”

”Don’t go up there!” the young man said in a stern voice, ”The group of people up there are no good; don’t get involved.”

The nurse shook her head resolutely and said, ”No, I can’t let you take the risk alone!”

The young man wanted to say more, but Ye Qing waved his hand and said, ”Stop arguing, both of you. You come with me, and she stays here. If you haven’t lied to me, then the two of you can leave together safely. Moreover, you can also go to Tian Sheng to get five hundred thousand.”

The young man and the nurse looked at each other. The young man nodded and said, ”Okay, I believe you. Linlin, wait for me here. I’ll be back soon!”

Although the nurse was reluctant, she nodded in the end, waiting anxiously in the car for them.

The young man led Ye Qing upstairs to the door of room 303 and knocked. A gruff voice immediately came from inside, ”Who is it?”

”Xiao Liang, it’s me, Xiao Ke,” the young man replied softly.

Footsteps were heard from inside the room, followed by the door opening, revealing a burly man’s head. Just as he was about to speak, Ye Qing, standing beside him, pushed him by the head and walked into the room.

Inside the room were four men, sitting together playing cards. When they saw something was off at the door, they all stood up immediately. One of the men casually pulled out a few machetes from under the bed. It seemed these men were nothing to mess with.

”You fucking bastard, Xiao Ke, you dare to screw us over!” one of the men cursed angrily.

”Who is he?” another shouted.

”Who cares who he is, chop him first!”

The crowd was clamoring, and with machetes in hand, they menacingly approached. Xiao Ke, on the other hand, was so scared that his legs went weak as he urgently said, ”Brothers, don’t...don’t be impulsive, he...he is Ye Qing...”

The four men suddenly stopped in their tracks, looking at Ye Qing with astonishment. In Shenchuan City, the name Ye Qing carried weight. At least these four men had heard the name and knew that Ye Qing alone was more than a match for the four of them!

The man who had been pushed into the room by Ye Qing swallowed hard and looked at Ye Qing, asking in a trembling voice, ”You...you’re Ye...Ye?”

Ye Qing casually closed the room door and gave the four men a glance, saying simply, ”Sit.”

The four men exchanged looks and eventually put down their machetes and sat down slowly. Xiao Ke stood at the door, uncertain whether to sit or stand, and eventually went over to the coffee table and sat down on it. This way, he would be closer to the door, ready to flee at a moment’s notice.

”If you know my name, then you should understand why I’m here!” Ye Qing looked at the four men and said, ”Speak, what exactly is going on?”

The four men looked at each other, and one of them sighed and said, ”Brother Ye, to be honest with you, my name is Little Liang, and we’re all brothers from Da Hong!”

Ye Qing wasn’t surprised by this revelation. That these people were on Hongfei Road meant they definitely had an inseparable relationship with Da Hong. However, he didn’t expect to get some information from Da Hong’s brothers after Da Hong’s death. He had thought that Da Hong would have kept the matter very secret.

”Our big brother was killed in a hit-and-run today, and we all know who did it,” Little Liang looked at Ye Qing and said gravely, ”We can’t fight that person, and we don’t dare seek revenge. But big brother treated us well when he was alive. If we don’t avenge him, are we still humans?

So, we came up with this plan to quietly give you, Brother Ye, the clues, hoping Brother Ye would take action and avenge us by the way!”

Ye Qing nodded. He could accept Little Liang’s explanation.

”Do you know who killed Da Hong?” Ye Qing asked gravely, ”Why did he kill Da Hong? What exactly happened here?”

Little Liang said, ”I’m not very clear on the details, but one of our brothers saw the driver was Chen He. He killed our big brother, and I think it must be related to the previous matter with Jia Zhengze. So, I figured this matter must be connected to Wang Lili’s incident, which is why I found a way to inform you, Brother Ye.”

Ye Qing frowned and asked in a deep voice, ”What exactly happened with Jia Zhengze and Wang Lili?”
