My Alleged Husband

Chapter 1997: Chapter 1791: Bitter?

Actually, how bitter it is to love someone, only you know, only you are the clearest, having given everything, youth has become desolate, it turns out all this was just a mistake.

Time passes day by day, Xia Jing has been thinking every day during this period about whether her actions were wrong.

She doesn’t know what she should do now to make everything different!

During this period, Xia Jing avoids seeing Zhang Zhentian when she has nothing else to do.

Zhang Zhentian goes to find Xia Jing every day, but each time he returns fruitless. He really can’t understand why, during this period, his wife is always avoiding him.

He repeatedly goes to his wife’s residence to find her, but each time ends with no result, which makes him very unhappy.

Every day when he goes to find Xia Jing, she is just not home, and time after time, he has exhausted all his patience.

He feels he has reached the limit of his tolerance.

”Yichen, do you know where your mom has been these days? Why have I searched so many places but haven’t seen her?”

Zhang Zhentian now knows he can’t find Xia Jing, so he straightforwardly asks his son to find her.

In Zhang Zhentian’s eyes, his son is now quite the capable person.

As long as it is something he desires, his son hasn’t failed to find it. Now, he really doesn’t want anything but to have his wife back by his side. The past doesn’t matter anymore as long as his loved one can stay by his side. Why should he care about right and wrong? If it’s really like this, how can he be happy in this lifetime?

”Dad, you clearly know if even you couldn’t find my mom, do you think I, as her son, could find her? Even though my contacts are wide, if she intentionally hides from me and doesn’t want to see us, she won’t show up even if we go to the ends of the earth.

Matters between a couple must be slowly addressed and resolved by the two of them; involving others won’t help. Even if I help you find her this time, it won’t solve the fundamental problems. Do you think you will be happy together like this?

Perhaps right now, in my mom’s mind, all she wants is to quietly find a place to think about what she should do. If we disturb her now, would it be counterproductive? Maybe when she figures it out someday, she will come back. But if we forcibly find her, will she really be happy?

I know you love my mom dearly. You should know what kind of person she is, what temperament she has, what mindset she possesses, and what kind of attitude she takes towards things.

If you choose this way, will it end up pushing her further away? Every decision will affect every path in the future. Haven’t you really thought about it?

I know there’s some business I should not meddle in, but seeing you like this, it pains me too. I want to help you both with all my might, but as a son, I have no means to assist you. Everything is a path she chose herself. If she chose to do this, what can I do? Matters between you have to be solved by yourselves even if I help you solve the immediate problem; the same issue will arise in the future.”

Zhang Yichen persuaded his father, knowing that his father can ignore the world’s matters but will definitely care about his mother!

Sure enough, hearing this from Zhang Yichen, Zhang Zhentian felt he should give Xia Jing some time.

”Maybe you’re right, so I’ll try to give your mom some time, but I hope the result of her thoughts won’t disappoint me.

I don’t care about how many things she’s done wrong or whose thoughts occupy her heart. I only want her to be by my side, to stay in this family, and that’s enough. Some things have been left in the past; no matter how much I think about them, they can’t go back. So why should I have a petty heart for a noble cause?

I give her time to think about whether she wants to return to me. If she does come back, no matter what, I will never let her leave me again. From the start, I never decided to let her go because I couldn’t bear it.

Decades of married life can’t be forgotten on a whim. How could I allow her to have perspectives that deem some matters unimportant, but in my perspective, everything she cares for, I don’t have to think about. As long as she can be happy and joyful, that’s enough. My greatest wish in this life is to see her cheerful and carefree, smiling all the time!”

Zhang Yichen had never thought that his father would feel so deeply for his mother, even though his mother was initially at fault. But he still doesn’t care about right and wrong for the sake of loving his mother. If such a thing happened to him one day, how would he choose? Would he immediately choose to drive his wife out of the house, ensuring she could never return to him for a lifetime?

Perhaps each person’s attitude towards matters is different, each person’s view is different. To him, this matter might be a big thing, but to his father, he might not mind because he loves his mother enough to overlook everything. Such love, to him, seems unattainable, for he already has his world. He must protect all of it, everything achieved through painstaking effort. He knows how much effort he had put in.

”Dad, I’ve never thought that you could love my mom so deeply. Seeing you like this, I sometimes ask myself if I would make the same choice as you if faced with the same situation. Maybe I wouldn’t, because while you can worry-free wander, I can’t, because I have my family here, and I’ve built my world here through my efforts. That’s why I can’t abandon it!”

”Child, I understand your decision, and I truly understand you. Life hasn’t been easy for you today, and if you choose differently from me, it’s understandable. How can I force you to make the same choice as me?”

Last night’s dreams can’t be held onto, yet have to concede defeat...
