My Alleged Husband

Chapter 1968: Chapter 1762: Devotion

”Grandfather, do you know? So many people ask me why I still wait for him bitterly, but I believe that even if everyone doesn’t understand me, you do. You should know, it’s not just her that I want—it’s my undying love for him. I’ve given him all my true feelings, wholeheartedly, without change...”

”You need to know, child, that although the world is vast and you can go to many places, do you truly feel there’s a place for you in this world?

Sometimes, acting on impulse requires a painful price, and no one should let you be reckless time and again, while she forgives you time and again without obligation. Yet you remain indifferent to others’ feelings, treating it as endless entitlement. This isn’t possible.

Everyone has their own way of living.

Your way of living, I really don’t approve, because you’re gambling with your child’s happiness. Can you really bear it? Seeing your child only five years old, about to turn six, while you, his mother, chooses to separate from his father and make him a child with a single parent—how will this affect his inner thoughts?

I have no right to judge whether what you’ve done is selfish or not. I just know that once you’ve made such a decision, you will have no chance for regret in your life. Not everything in this world allows for regret. You should understand many things; once you decide, no one will explain to you whether it’s right or wrong anymore. You’re an adult, responsible for the consequences of your actions. If you choose this path, what if when your child grows up and learns the truth, that you, his mother, have become this way—do you think he will choose to resent you?”

Ran Zhihan was silent, truth be told; he had heard every word Old Master Zhang said. He just didn’t know how to express what he felt inside. If his own child chose to resent his mother, how painful would that be? How should he face it? Yet, the words were stuck, powerless. Many things can’t be changed with just a few simple words.

No woman wishes her marriage to become broken. They all hope for a happy and fulfilling life. But heaven never adds brilliance to everyone’s life according to their plans. It only presents life’s splendor through trials again and again.

At this moment, his heart was desperate; he knew what his actions would bring to his child.

He couldn’t bear to do this. After all, this was his own child. How could a mother willingly let her child endure such pain? Many things waver in his heart; he doesn’t understand which path to choose. He just knows that not everything he does is right. But he yearns for the day when, if he truly makes such a decision, and his child chooses to resent him, how should he face it? All these outcomes are due to his impulsiveness, and whether his child will ultimately understand his mother’s feelings?

”Grandfather, I really don’t know what to do anymore. Everything I’ve done is just in hopes that this family can live in peace. I never thought my actions would make the family so hard to be at peace. I don’t want this to continue. I just hope someday my child can proudly say I’m a good mother, feel proud because of me.

You’re right; I shouldn’t bet with my child’s happiness. My child is dear to my heart. I’ve raised him painstakingly for so many years, carried him for ten months and gave birth. No one knows how much I care for him. I just wish he could grow happily, without anything affecting his growth, which is enough for me as a mother!

I also understand that many things cannot be avoided. In the end, one must face them, learning to face them, thus saving so much trouble. I know everyone has different inner thoughts, like mine now—I just want my child to live happily. I have no other thoughts. I haven’t thought about living happily myself anymore; I just want my son to consider this mother a lifelong pride, that’s enough.”

”Actually, you should really understand now; in the end, you have nowhere to hide. The world is vast, but you can’t escape his grasp. The entire world’s economy is in his hands. Do you think you can avoid his tracking? If there’s no way, then don’t make needless struggles; it will only make your feelings grow further apart. Leave each other a path back, don’t drive each other to the brink, or ultimately only the kindest heart among you will be hurt!

For the sake of your child, as a mother, you should indeed be courageous in paying any price, not afraid of enduring any blame and pain for your son. But I also hope you live courageously—to me, you’re the favored granddaughter-in-law. How can I bear to see you and my dear grandson come to this state? I’m not a muddle-headed person. On the contrary, this old fool has seen through all rights and wrongs in this world. I’m not concerned about whom these events began with. I’m concerned whether this family can ultimately pass safely, remain united, mutually respect each other, and avoid constant conflict over anything!”

”Grandfather, you’re right; the world is so big; where can I go with my son? It never occurred to me that in such a vast world, in the end, there’s no place for me and my son. The world’s economy is in his hands; no one dares shelter us, nor can run against him. Slowly, I’ve come to understand that many things shouldn’t be forced. If it’s meant for you, it will belong to you. If not, even with many extravagant pleas, there’ll be no results. Why not let go to find happiness, to let those whom you loved once always laugh carefree—this isn’t more important than anything else?”

”How could I not know? Waiting like this may not yield results, but I still want to wait; perhaps heaven will ultimately not disappoint those who are determined?”
