My Alleged Husband

Chapter 1965: Chapter 1759: Promise

I never make promises lightly, but once I do, I will certainly fulfill them.

Ran Zhihan spent a long time accompanying Old Master Zhang in the hospital, feeling that his grandfather always considered life from his perspective, having worried too much about his marriage.

As a junior member, how could he repeatedly let his grandfather worry so much for him while he remained indifferent? How could he truly be worthy of being his grandfather’s descendant and receive such care and love?

He has aged, and if he doesn’t spend quality time with her now, there might come a day when she suddenly leaves him, never to return. If that moment truly arrives, he would be internally full of regret. This grandfather has cherished him for so many years, caring for him like a biological granddaughter regardless of whose actual grandfather he was. There is no reason not to accompany and take care of her, being both sensible and caring. How could he let his grandfather endure so many hardships while being powerless?

Old Master Zhang knew his granddaughter-in-law stayed by his side in the hospital day and night, merely to attend to his daily needs.

His heart was overwhelmed with joy and excitement now that his grandson’s marriage was finally happy, and they could return to their former days of happiness without any torment separating them. This was his greatest comfort. She is clingy; all she wants is for her children and grandchildren to live happily, even though he worries day and night and doesn’t have any joyful days. His heart remains happy.

”Zhihan, Grandpa thanks you for staying by this old man’s side for so long. I know my health is declining daily, but I feel spiritually well because of your companionship. It is your presence that has brought sunshine and happiness to me, allowing me to experience a peaceful old age. I now have no regrets, and if I were to leave this world immediately, I would have no regrets. The only thing I still worry about is my grandson and you. I wish you could live a happy and fulfilling life together as a family!

Grandpa knows you very much hope your child doesn’t continue with the rigorous training. As a mother, watching your child endure injuries and wounds, your heart surely aches. But the world is cruel, and there’s no way to return it all to the beginning. Since he chose this path, he must complete it!

I, like you, cannot bear to see her hurt repeatedly. But he is a man, having chosen this path and become a Zhang Family member. He must endure pains and trials that others cannot. That’s the true essence of being a Zhang Family member. I understand discussing this with you might upset you, but you must accept this reality.”

Ran Zhihan nodded, knowing this is an unchangeable fact. Why force change upon what cannot change? After all, she couldn’t achieve such a thing.

”Grandpa, I understand everything you say is for my own good. I know you’re comforting me, but I want my child to live peacefully. As a mother, seeing my son apply ointment to his bloodied hands in his room while I secretly watch from a corner, unable to step forward for fear of my child getting hurt—who can understand a mother’s internal torment and pain?”

”I understand it’s natural for you to feel this way, but children must experience setbacks and challenges to grow. Only a child that grows amidst such difficulties will be the strongest. Do you know? I don’t know how to console you, but I sincerely hope you understand your child is the strongest. He can rely on himself to become an upper-class person without depending on anyone, achieving his desired goals. You shouldn’t hinder his progress; instead, you should support her unconditionally, letting her pursue her heart’s desires!

You should understand what hardships and pain your husband has endured. He also doesn’t want his child to suffer in such ways, but no one is perfect; everyone has differing views on certain matters. You should understand each other rather than argue repeatedly, as it won’t help or resolve anything!

As parents, no one can watch their child suffer harm and remain indifferent. If such parents exist, it shows they have no real concern for their children. You aren’t the same, and neither is our family. We are a Wealthy Family, with many eyeing our assets eagerly. You understand that carelessness could let others swallow it all, leaving nothing behind. Do you really wish for a day when, after the family’s passing, others tread upon your child’s legacy, unable to fight back?

I believe you don’t want such a thing to happen. Our family’s pride strengthens our position, giving us no right to strip him of this path. He should grow happily and live a worry-free life. At least now, his childhood is his own chosen path. He won’t regret it, and we should let him understand that once a choice is made, there’s no room for regret!”

”Grandpa, I understand that once a choice is made, there’s no room for regret, but he is my child. I genuinely can’t bear seeing him training arduously alone while I, his mother, can only watch from behind...”

I will never be someone who breaks their word, nor will I ever do something I can’t stand behind!
