My Alleged Husband

Chapter 1964: Chapter 1758: The Present Me

In the past, I was always afraid of losing whatever I did. I know that when I stand by your side again, a lot has changed between us. Even if it’s not that obvious, things will never be the same!

Ran Zhihan originally thought that leaving the man she loved meant everything could go as she wished. But she never expected, after leaving Zhang Yichen, what kind of ending she would face?

A few days after Ran Zhihan left Zhang Yichen, she couldn’t go on living. She went to different places looking for the job she wanted, but no one dared to hire her. Everyone’s response was: ”Sorry, the president said if we hire you privately, our company will face closure, so sorry...”

Every time she heard this, her heart was utterly broken. Only now does she finally understand what it means to have financial power that can move mountains. The feeling of being rich is really good; it can make anyone work for you and permanently trample the poor underfoot. She now understands that if she had thought three times before making that decision, perhaps she would not be in such a dire situation today. Ran Zhihan wished she could go back and find the man she loved. But would it help? After thinking it over, she finally thickened her skin and went to find her ex-boyfriend.

When Zhang Yichen saw that Ran Zhihan was coming to see him, he was quite curious. Wasn’t this the woman who said she couldn’t? Why is she coming back to find me now?

”Oh, who is this? Isn’t this my ex-girlfriend? Who said she could live just fine after leaving me? Who said she didn’t need me by her side? How did she end up like this? Even wearing ripped jeans (these ripped jeans are not the fashionable kind). It seems you are doing quite well. Now what? Are you back to show off how happy you are?” Zhang Yichen truly lives up to his image as a business king, never considering others’ feelings when he speaks, only knowing how to use his words to hit others. Perhaps it is because of this that he can stand firm in such a cruel society, not letting anyone threaten his company or harm him.

Ran Zhihan heard this and was furious: ”Do you find this interesting? You deliberately announced to the world that I am no longer your girlfriend. You deliberately told everyone not to allow me to work at their company just to cut off my financial resources, just to get revenge on me. Is this really appropriate?”

”Look at you, what are you talking about? Weren’t you very firm about breaking up with me a few days ago? Didn’t you say you could live better without me? Didn’t you say you didn’t care about me and weren’t with me for money? Since you don’t value money, why bother earning it then? I’m doing you a favor; I’m helping you prove you can live in this world without money. Did I do something wrong? You said it yourself; I’m indeed retaliating against you. Think back a few days ago; when you were determined to part ways, I had already told you unless you never gave me a chance, I would surely retaliate, leave you with no way out. I would cut off all your financial resources, leaving you and your parents with no way to survive in this world. Now that I have fulfilled my words, why can’t you fulfill yours? Didn’t you say you would never come back to beg me? Are you here to plead for my forgiveness now?”

”You’re joking. Why should I 求 you? The one who did wrong wasn’t me. Just because you’re rich and powerful, I have to do everything your way? Everyone is equal. Even if you have a lot of money, you’re just a person...”

”Yes, you’re right. Even with vast wealth, indeed, everyone should be equal. But people are divided into classes. You are lowly now, while I am a figure of high society. I have money and you don’t, so I can use my wealth and power to keep you permanently under my foot, never letting you rise again. Do I have any wrong there? Haven’t you lived nearly twenty years without understanding the harshness of society? I’m showing you how cruel this world is with my method, and instead of being grateful, you complain. I’m actually doing you a big favor. Think about it; you left and gained freedom, while I suffered unbearable pain due to your departure. You took revenge on me! But reversing the situation, your departure revealed you are a vain woman, and the person I despise most in life is someone who chases after wealth. So why can’t I retaliate against you using my way? What I’ve done to you today is just retaliation!”

”And you, like this, expect me to come crawling back to beg you?” Ran Zhihan was confused with anger.

”Based on what? You just said the person who did wrong wasn’t you, so it’s my fault? I’d really like to know what your heart is made of. My grandfather paid a high price to send you to study in the United States, and is this how you repay him and me? During those three years of your amnesia, I treated you so well, but the moment you regained your memory, you heartlessly abandoned me. Do you think that’s my fault too? Many things aren’t as complicated as you imagine. You just made them complicated. You treated me with a complex mindset, so I can only retaliate against you. Without revenge, I can’t balance my heart. From childhood, I endured many humiliations and people bullying me. I never thought of retaliating against them. I only wanted to prove I am stronger. Now I have, but with you, I can only choose revenge because I’m much stronger than you. Even the education abroad you have is thanks to my family’s money. What pride do you have? Since you chose to leave, inconveniencing you to repay all the tuition money my family spent on your foreign study with any benefits gained...”

”Are you trying to drive me to death?”

”Don’t speak so dramatically. How could I bear to drive you to death? You were my ex-girlfriend, the one who harshly abandoned me. I’ll make sure you’re miserable, unable to live, unable to die. I’ll let you watch as I force you into despair step by step, leaving you no way to live. I’ll make you kneel, returning step by step to beg for my forgiveness...”

”Fine, since you’ve said this much, we’ll see. Even if I die, I won’t come to you!”

”Remember what you said!”

Actually, Zhang Yichen just wanted to test the feelings they shared over the three years she had lost her memory. But the result broke his heart, as his girlfriend heartlessly abandoned him, making it unbearable for him to accept.

If Ran Zhihan knew what would happen next, she certainly wouldn’t have given up the man she loved.

From the beginning, full of sincerity, to later full of neglect, nothing is like before at all!
