My Alleged Husband

Chapter 1967: Chapter 1761: Looking Up

The things we go through every year never distinguish for whom they happen, yet people always make clear distinctions about themselves.

For a long time afterward, Ran Zhihan stayed at the hospital with Old Master Zhang, feeling that no matter what, his grandfather always stood by his side and considered his life choices. He had already worried too much about his marriage.

As the younger generation, how could I let my grandfather worry about me over and over again? How could I stand by doing nothing and pretend not to see? How could I be worthy of being my grandfather’s descendant like this? How could I deserve the care and love my grandfather gave me?

He is already old. If I don’t accompany him well now, who knows—one day, he might suddenly leave me, never to return. If that moment truly comes, how guilty will I feel inside? This is the grandfather who has loved me for so many years. No matter whose biological grandfather he is, he has always treated me like a real granddaughter. I have no reason not to accompany him, not to take care of him. As a normal, sensible person, how could I let my grandfather endure such hardship while I remain powerless?

When Old Master Zhang learned that his granddaughter-in-law was staying at the hospital day and night just to take care of his daily needs.

He couldn’t express how happy he was, how excited. He knew that now his grandson’s marriage was finally happy. They could finally return to the happy and joyful days of the past, no longer torn apart by any trials. For him, this was the greatest comfort. She is like a clinging boyfriend, and all she wanted was for her children and grandchildren to live happily. Even if he worried day and night, even if he had no happy days left, his heart was still happy and joyful.

”Zhihan, thank you. Thank you for being willing to stay by the side of this old man for so long. I know my health is declining day by day, but now I feel a great spirit, all because of your company. Grandpa feels the sunlight of happiness; it’s you who let grandpa experience what it means to enjoy life in his later years. Now, I have no regrets. If I were to leave this world now, I would have no regrets at all. The only thing I can’t let go of is my grandson and you. I want to see you and your family live happily and joyfully!

Grandpa knows you really want your child to stop undergoing harsh training because, as a mother, seeing your child repeatedly hurt and covered in bruises is very painful. But the world is cruel; nothing can turn back time. Since he’s chosen this path, he must see it through to the end, no matter what!

I, like you, hate to see him get hurt time and time again. But since he is a man, since he chose this path, since he became part of the Zhang Family—the progeny of the Zhang Family—then he must bear the pain and hardships others might not be able to. This is a real member of the Zhang Family. I know it might be hard for you to hear this, but you must accept this reality.”

Ran Zhihan nodded. He knew this was an unchangeable fact, so why force it? There’s no way to change it.

”Grandpa, I know everything you said is for my well-being, and I know you’re trying to comfort me. But I also want my child to live a peaceful life. As a mother, seeing my own son with blood-soaked hands, applying medicine in his room by himself, while I hide in the corner watching, afraid to step out in fear that he might get hurt if I do, who can understand a mother’s torment and pain?”

”I know, I know what you’re doing is understandable. But a child must go through setbacks and difficulties to grow up. Only a child who grows up through adversity will become the strongest person, do you understand? I don’t know how to comfort you, but I really hope you understand that your child is the strongest person. He can become highly successful through his own efforts, reaching all his goals without relying on anyone. You shouldn’t obstruct his path; rather, you should support him unconditionally, allowing him to charge full steam ahead in the direction of his heart!

You should also understand how much difficulty and pain your husband has gone through. He doesn’t want his child to endure such pain again, either. But in this world, no one can be perfect, and everyone will see things differently. You should empathize with each other instead of arguing repeatedly; it doesn’t help and won’t resolve anything!

No parent can watch their child suffer without reacting. If such parents exist, it only proves that their heart doesn’t relate to their child. But you are different; our family is different. We are a Wealthy Family; many people covet our assets. You should know that if we’re not careful, we’ll be swallowed whole. Do you really want your child to be trampled when the rest of us are gone, unable to retaliate?

I believe you wouldn’t want such a thing to happen, but the stronger our family pride becomes, the more stable our family’s position is. None of us has the right to deprive him of such a life. We should allow him to grow up happily, with a joyful and worry-free life. At least his childhood is a path he chose for himself; he won’t regret it. We should make him understand that some decisions, once made, leave no room for regret!”

”Grandpa, I know. I know that once some things are decided, there’s no room for regret. But after all, he is my child, and I really can’t let him train hard on his own while I, as his mother, can only watch from behind...”

Year after year, all emotions are like this, gazing at the sky, hoping for your return, but all that comes back is disappointment!
