Transmigrated as a Peasant Baby Who is Pampered by All

Chapter 448: Chapter 277: Yingying

Seeing Jiang Yu’s gaze fixed on the bookstore shelves, the maid led him straight to the shelves.

”Have a look first, customer. These books are categorized, basically what girls like can all be bought here.”

Jiang Yu nodded: ”I’ll look around myself, you can go attend to other things.”

Since I’m already here, I might as well have a look. Anyway, I’m here to buy books. If I find anything suitable, I’ll get two books for Xiaoxue and Xiaomi as well.

Xiaoxue is only interested in embroidery, but Xiaomi is different. She has a wide range of interests and sometimes even ponders over various recipes, even though she seldom cooks herself.

Jiang Yu wandered around several shelves and picked out a book about embroidery patterns. It seemed a bit difficult, but Xiaoxue should like it.

Just as he was about to leave, he suddenly noticed something in the corner.

”Huh? Do girls also like this?”

Saying that, he picked it up. It was a book about archery on horseback, especially marked as ”female archery on horseback” on the cover.

He thought only his own sister liked it, but it turns out there are actually books dedicated to teaching women horseback archery.

”Why, can’t girls do anything besides embroidery and playing the qin?”

An unhappy voice came from the side. Jiang Yu looked up and saw a girl about his age glaring at him.

Her big round eyes, puffed cheeks, trying hard to express her discontent, but still looking very cute.

Moreover, the girl wasn’t wearing a beautiful silk dress. Instead, she was in a húfú, with her hair tied up like a man’s rather than in a maiden’s bun, and not a single extra hair ornament.

For a moment, Jiang Yu felt he was looking at a grown-up version of Xiaomi.

Jiang Yu didn’t scrutinize her more; he just glanced once and then looked away.

”Not at all, my sister likes these too. But generally, she just figures things out on her own and practices by hunting in the mountains. I just didn’t expect there to be books dedicated to this.”

He had skimmed through the book earlier, which explained the differences in learning horseback archery due to the distinct physicalities and strengths between women and men.

It’s perfect to take back for Xiaomi.

The girl clearly didn’t believe him, looking at the other book Jiang Hu held: ”If your sister likes these, then why are you buying that?”

Jiang Yu lowered his head to look at the two books in his hands, indeed completely opposite items.

He looked up and asked with a smile: ”How do you know I only have one sister?”

The girl froze for a moment, then beamed with joy and immediately pursued the topic.

”Really? Does your sister like these too? How’s her practice going? As her brother, you even buy her these books, don’t you oppose it?”

Jiang Yu immediately heard that this girl was likely often opposed by her family.

He took another look at her dashing húfú, her delicate skin, and her high-quality clothes, marking her as a daughter of a wealthy family, yet here she was, alone, without a maid.

Chances are, she sneaked out in men’s clothes.

With that thought, Jiang Yu chuckled lightly: ”There’s no law saying girls can’t like these things, after all. My little sister, well, she killed a big snake before she was three and could hunt before the age of seven.”

Though that snake was actually taken for an eel by Xiaomi and killed together by them, it didn’t deny that Xiaomi was indeed brave.

But the girl was clearly stunned, full of disbelief: ”That amazing?”

Jiang Yu nodded, indeed quite amazing, especially in the two or three months before coming to Fu’an Village; the family almost had endless meat every day during the hot days which they had to eat!

What they couldn’t finish at home, they gave to the Liu family, sold some, and even each household in the village received some from their parents.

Even though Jiang Yu knew since childhood that Xiaomi was impressive, he still felt some of these feats were quite extraordinary.

The girl had turned from delighted to admiring, her eyes sparkling: ”Could I meet your sister? I’ve also been learning to hunt lately, can I go with her?”

This time, it was Jiang Yu who felt caught off guard: ”That’s, that’s not very appropriate, is it?”

He didn’t even know who this girl was.

Yet she waved her small hand: ”Oh, what’s so bad about it? How about this? I’ll buy these two books as a meeting gift for your sisters, and you take me to meet them!”

Saying this, not waiting for Jiang Yu to refuse, she swiftly took out a piece of broken silver and handed it to the maid, then grabbed Jiang Yu by the wrist and pulled him out the door.

”Where is your home? Is it far? I’ve still got two hours, let’s go meet your sister first, then go hunting tomorrow!”

Her hasty demeanor left Jiang Yu hardly able to get a word in.

”Hang on, my house is nearby.”

Jiang Yu barely managed to stop, and it was the girl who dragged him onto the street, oblivious to where his house was or where she was going.

”Where is it? I’m around here often, how come I’ve never seen you?”

Jiang Yu freed his wrist, adjusted his sleeve: ”We just arrived in Fu’an Village a few days ago, so of course, you haven’t seen me before.”

He glanced at the sky; it was close to lunchtime, and his parents should already be back.

”My little sister went to see the lion dance with our parents. If you’re not in a rush, you can come back with me and wait a while. They’ll surely be back before lunch.”

The girl immediately nodded: ”Okay, let’s go. Where do you live?”

Jiang Yu was amazed: ”Aren’t you afraid of meeting bad people?”

His parents had always taught them not to go with strangers, not even with children. Back in Fu’an Village, there were even two children almost abducted by human traffickers.

The girl smiled mysteriously: ”Of course I’m not afraid. You don’t think I’m here alone, do you?”

Jiang Yu was taken aback, then understood: ”That’s good. By the way, my name is Jiang Yu. How may I address you, miss?”

The girl’s eyes rolled: ”Just call me Yingying.”

This was clearly not her real name, or at least not her full name, but Jiang Yu didn’t mind.

”Yingying, then let’s go back. My little sister and the others will definitely be back for lunch. If you don’t mind, you can also eat at our place.”

I don’t mind at all; as long as I can meet your sister, I don’t need to eat!

Jiang Yu found it amusing, though he understood.

The more wealthy a girl, the more she was expected to be a proper lady. A girl like Yingying, dressed in men’s clothes and clearly fond of horseback riding and archery, probably stood out among her female friends.

It’s rare to meet a girl with similar interests; being excited seemed quite normal.

Thinking of this, it’s true that Xiaomi, able to freely hunt in the mountains and now having an extra ’disciple’, is indeed happier than Yingying.
