Transmigrated as a Peasant Baby Who is Pampered by All

Chapter 447: Chapter 276: Serene Book House

These past few days, every afternoon, they would go out for a walk, first to marvel at the bustling city of Fuzhou, and second to relax their minds a bit.

After all, staying cooped up at home reading books all day long can affect one’s state of mind, not to mention the prolonged time spent inside the carriage before.

No wonder many people say that taking an exam is akin to a serious illness.

If they were local students from Fuzhou, it would have been okay, but since they came from remote areas, just the journey alone drains most of their energy, not to mention other factors.

Apart from these, in the past couple of days, their parents specially bought two small stoves and a small clay pot, which are said to be the same as the cooking utensils used by students during the academy exams to prepare their own meals.

Every day, he and Liu Ze would use these to make some food, frying eggs, egg drop soup, making porridge, mung bean porridge, rice, and they could even make pancakes.

Jiang Yu thought that even without this exam, with his current cooking skills, he probably wouldn’t starve himself.

With thoughts swirling in his mind, he walked slowly. Lion dancing and such didn’t interest him much; he just couldn’t be bothered watching Liu Ze’s obsequious face when alone at home.

Especially since he would even secretly get jealous of Wei Ziang!

Simply not putting him, his elder brother, in his eyes!

Thinking of Wei Ziang...

Jiang Yu couldn’t help but sigh again. Compared to Liu Ze and Xiaoxue, he was actually more optimistic about Xiaomi and Wei Ziang.

Not for any other reason, just because Xiaomi was smart and unlike many other girls, definitely not the type to stay at home all day, obediently managing the household.

Xiaomi’s head was always filled with thoughts of running everywhere. When she read in books about the turbulent seas, skies and waters blending together, her face was filled with longing, wishing she could immediately grow up and go see them.

Reading about the solitary smoke in the desert and the long river setting sun, she would fantasize about what the boundless desert really looked like.

Reading about scaling the heights to view the small mountains, she could hardly wait to climb to the top of the mountains and take a look.

It was well-known in the family that Xiaomi was different from ordinary girls since childhood. With such a temperament, if she were married into another family, who knows how much grievance she would suffer.

Moreover, Jiang Yu’s intuition told him that judging by Xiaomi’s character, she probably wouldn’t easily get married when she grows up; she might actually go and explore the places she once dreamt of.

Especially since Xiaomi never learned needlework, disliked music, chess, books, and painting, but loved to wield swords. On her own, she had mastered such skills in hunting.

Recently, she even made a little wooden sword, practicing with Wei Ziang in the courtyard every day, looking quite professional.

If nothing unexpected happened, his guess might likely turn into reality.

After all, Xiaomi was like a lucky star descending to earth; how could she live her life as an ordinary girl?

And at this time, Wei Ziang’s importance became apparent.

In the whole family, only Wei Ziang was somewhat like Xiaomi, able to hunt and wield swords; whatever Xiaomi could do, he had to learn too. Even the bows, arrows, and wooden swords were made by Wei Ziang himself.

Although both of them were still young, if things continued like this, it wouldn’t be impossible. Besides, Wei Ziang had no parents and was an orphan, unlike Liu Ze, who still had family constraints.

When they grew up, it wouldn’t be surprising if these two ventured into the world together. Moreover, two people together are surely safer than one.

With this little thought in mind, Jiang Yu never opposed Wei Ziang’s attentiveness to Xiaomi, even though he thought both were little kids and probably had no idea what liking someone meant.

But whatever, childhood friends turning into lifelong companions seemed natural and knowing each other well couldn’t be better.

The more he thought about it, the more he felt it was quite good like this.

Both sisters had good prospects, with people he felt assured of, Jiang Yu also felt happy.

Thinking of this, he found himself on the main street. He initially wanted to check on where his parents were, but on second thought, it was probably crowded over there, and he might not be able to find them.

With a turn of his steps, he headed in another direction.

What he liked most about Fuzhou was that there were many bookstores, and they were quite large, almost any book could be found.

Jiang Yu liked reading, and he could read all kinds of books. Sometimes the ones he bought for Xiaoxue, about embroidery, he could also spend an afternoon skimming through.

The teacher always said, learning is endless, even with the same book, each reading could bring new knowledge. Moreover, with so many books in the world, every book is a crystallization of knowledge.

For example, Xiaoxue’s embroidery, which seemed like a simple design, but who would have known that just one chrysanthemum could have dozens of stitching techniques?

And each stitching technique would present a different effect, giving people different visual enjoyment, just like everyone has a different opinion on the same thing.

The same goes for reading books, there’s no higher or lower class among them, just different content inside.

As his eyes searched, he walked into a bookstore he hadn’t visited before, slightly further away.

”Yoran Book House?” he glanced up and walked straight in without much thought.

”Welcome, esteemed guest, our shop has all sorts of... huh? Guest, have you perhaps come to the wrong place?”

The one who greeted him was surprisingly a young lady, who widened her eyes in surprise upon seeing a man before her.

Jiang Yu also noticed at this moment that the bookstore was warmly decorated, with not only books but also many cute and beautiful decorations.

The bookshelves in the shop were neatly arranged, but there were vases on the shelves with all sorts of flowers in them.

Apart from books, there were even some cosmetics and jewelry like hairpins and earrings around.

Not only that, but the bookstore’s visitors, aside from himself, seemed to be all girls?

Jiang Yu blinked; it seemed he really had gone to the wrong place.

However, noticing that everyone around was curiously looking at him, some even smiling, hiding their mouths with folding fans, he could tell they were whispering to their companions.

And most of the girls were accompanied by maids, even the one greeting him, although dressed as a maid, wore clothes that an ordinary family wouldn’t afford.

Jiang Yu cleared his throat and smiled at the maid in front of him, ”I’m here to buy some things for my younger sister.”

What was sold here was presumably what girls liked, judging by the cosmetics and jewelry suitable for young girls; presumably, the books were similar.

The maid was momentarily stunned, but being well-trained, she quickly reacted and led Jiang Yu inside.

”Is there anything specific you’re looking to buy? Our books are all the ones girls love, from beauty and grooming guides to explanations of currently popular dresses, as well as music, chess, calligraphy, painting, or embroidery and sewing books.”

”Of course, some popular storybooks that young ladies enjoy are also available here, and additionally, some of the hottest cosmetics and gold and silver jewelry of the moment.”

”If there is something you want but it isn’t available in our shop, you can also leave your address. If our owner finds it, they will notify you...”
