Transmigrated as a Peasant Baby Who is Pampered by All

Chapter 446: Chapter 275: Jiang Yu

The business of spicy hot pot was even better than Xiaomi had expected.

Starting at ten o’clock in the morning, which was the time of Si, they began business. Before that, it was mostly buying ingredients and preparation work.

Once the morning rush was over, the afternoon became much more relaxed. Chef Yang cooked the noodles, Manager Wang collected money, one waiter served the dishes, and another washed the dishes.

The sign was also changed to ”Liu’s Spicy Hot Pot,” and they even built a stove at the entrance of the restaurant, moving the stove to the front, so there was no need to keep anything secret.

This stuff has no technical content, at least not for Master Yang. Any cook with some real skills could figure out the spices after a few bowls of spicy hot pot.

Since that was the case, there was no need to hide it - just bring it out in the open. Although it might not spread its aroma for ten miles, at least the entire street, from one end to the other, could smell it.

Quite a few customers came attracted by the aroma, and some who seemed well-dressed and from good families also wanted to have a taste.

Wang Fu immediately tidied up the second floor, doubling the number of guests that could be accommodated.

Sometimes when it got busy, Jiang Hu would help with washing the dishes, with two waiters assisting in the front.

However, the busy time was just during the main meal time, after which things calmed down.

Thanks to the relatively simple process, after the initial day of adapting, the spicy hot pot business was running smoothly, even if Wang Fu wasn’t constantly supervising.

So in the past few days, Wang Fu also took the opportunity to take the whole Jiang family on a few trips around the city, mainly to help them get familiar with it, so they could go wherever they wanted by themselves afterward.

Jiang Yu was in his room reviewing his studies for an hour. The county exam was only four days away. Although the teacher had previously advised against being too hasty, he still reviewed his studies seriously.

Putting down the book, he turned to find that Liu Ze was no longer at the desk beside him. Jiang Yu shook his head; expectedly, nine times out of ten, Liu Ze had gone to find Xiao Xue.

He’s not a child anymore; Jiang Yu was well aware of Liu Ze’s feelings towards Xiao Xue, having even privately talked to Liu Ze about it.

Liu Ze naturally admitted openly, saying that once Xiao Xue had grown up, he’d have his parents formally propose marriage.

Of course, Jiang Yu also asked, what if Liu Ze’s parents disagreed?

After all, regardless of their current relationship, the social status gap between them was evident.

He recalled his first visit to Liu’s House...

Jiang Yu sighed lightly; no one would have expected Liu’s family to be an official household. No wonder during the drought, Liu Ze’s parents stayed in the county town and never came to Fu’an Village despite knowing there was a water source.

And for so many years, the Liu family had been interacting with the Jiang family under the guise of ordinary merchants.

Well, although Liu Ze’s mother came from a merchant family, and Madame Liu indeed always ran a business.

Only he knew the truth in the whole family and had to pretend not to know it to prevent the relationship between his parents and the Liu family from becoming too strained.

This was initially requested by Madame Liu and Lord Liu.

In Lord Liu’s words, he was told because he was the eldest son of the Jiang family, and informing him was not deliberately hiding from the Jiang family.

Not informing others was to prevent everyone from being too restrained in their interactions.

This made sense, too; if his parents knew that Liu Ze was the second son of the Lord County Magistrate, how could they dare to treat him like their own child, eating and talking casually? They would probably treat him like royalty.

Not to mention, Liu’s grandfather was the County Magistrate’s father.

Keeping it from the family was indeed better than telling them the truth.

And precisely because he knew Liu Ze’s identity, when Liu Ze confessed his feelings, Jiang Yu asked what would happen if Lord Liu and Madame Liu disagreed?

After all, the identity gap between Xiao Xue and Liu Ze was really vast.

However, Liu Ze had a phrase that reassured him a little.

Liu Ze said he was just the second son, not the firstborn. His elder brother, Liu Qingfeng, was much more outstanding and in good health. If nothing unexpected happened, he would surely rank in the provincial exam next year.

With his elder brother succeeding his father’s legacy, as the weaker second son barely making a living, his parents were satisfied as long as he was alive.

If his parents had any expectations, wasn’t there still a three-year-old younger brother?

By the time his brother enters the court as an official and his younger brother takes over his mother’s business, he could even marry into the Jiang family.

This was Liu Ze’s original statement.

Marrying into the family, Jiang Yu only assumed Liu Ze was joking; after all, as the County Magistrate’s second son, how could he marry into a farming family?

But Liu Ze’s words did slightly alleviate his original worries.

The fact that he could utter these words showed that his feelings were genuine.

As for what happens afterward...

Jiang Yu chuckled lightly, thinking things could be dealt with later; Xiao Xue was only ten, and it would be at least another five years before she would marry, so there was no need to hurry.

Besides, he could tell that Xiao Xue didn’t have any such insights yet; to her, Liu Ze was no different from an older brother.

If Liu Ze wanted to marry Xiao Xue, it wouldn’t be an easy task.

Jiang Yu casually strolled out, hands behind his back. Although it was midsummer, the morning was still very cool, perfect for reading and calligraphy.

Pushing the door open, he indeed found Xiao Xue working on some clothes under the gazebo, with Liu Ze pottering around with a small flowerpot beside her.

He glanced around but didn’t see anyone else.

”Where are Mother and Little Sister? Why are only the two of you home?”

Jiang Yu walked straight over and sat opposite Liu Ze, looking at the small flowerpot in front of him: ”Is this mint? What are you doing with it?”

”Xiaomi said mint can repel mosquitoes. She previously planted many cuttings, and I’m planting a pot for Xiao Xue to keep by her bedside.”

Facing Jiang Yu, his future brother-in-law, Liu Ze was very straightforward.

Xiao Xue paused her sewing: ”Then make another one; Xiaomi attracts mosquitoes the most, make one for her too.”

Liu Ze didn’t move: ”Ziang has already planted Xiaomi’s, and it’s already in your room.”

Speaking of this, Liu Ze felt a bit annoyed.

Wei Ziang, using his young age as an excuse, often blatantly dragged Xiaomi around, while Liu Ze couldn’t.

Moreover, as long as Xiao Xue wasn’t in the room or Xiaomi was changing clothes or something, it was almost as if he had free access to Xiaomi’s room.

It was practically flaunting it!

Xiao Xue suddenly understood: ”Oh, that’s good then.”

Jiang Yu rolled his eyes. Anyone would be annoyed knowing both his sisters were eyed early on, wouldn’t they?

”You still haven’t said where everyone else went.”

He wondered if his questions were that easy to ignore.

”They went to see the lion dance. I heard there’s a lion dance troupe in South City today, along with many other performances. Xiaomi and Xiao Wei wanted to go, so everyone else went too.”

”A lion dance?” Jiang Yu was intrigued: ”I’d like to see it too. Aren’t you going?”

Xiao Xue shook her head: ”I want to finish making this dress. You guys can go.”

Liu Ze replied straightforwardly: ”I don’t want to go out today.”

Regarding Liu Ze’s response, Jiang Yu wasn’t surprised at all. After all, if Xiao Xue wasn’t going, neither was he, so he waved his hand and left.
