Transmigrated as a Peasant Baby Who is Pampered by All

Chapter 442: Chapter 273: Free Tasting

Over here, Wang Fu has already started finding someone to change the signboard, the name is very down-to-earth, just called ’Liu’s Spicy Hotpot’!

Xiaomi asked Chef Yang to cook another pot, a bit of every vegetable.

”Miss Xiaomi, why are you making so much?”

Chef Yang didn’t know about Little Lucky Star, he came to Fuzhou with Wang Fu, just a simple chef.

”To attract customers.”

”Attract customers?”

Wang Fu had just instructed a waiter to find someone to redo the signboard, when he heard this line from Xiaomi as he was about to ask her something else.

”What does Miss Xiaomi plan to do?”

According to tradition, when a new store opens, they hang a red silk, set off a string of firecrackers, and let everyone know there’s a new store opening here.

The big businesses even invite a lion dance team.

But the opening is over, and a lion dance team might not be necessary in this small place.

Hardly anyone passes by the front, besides his small restaurant, all the neighbors are mostly residential houses, or some stores that aren’t convenient in the busy areas.

Like incense shops, fortune-telling shops, his little restaurant, to be honest, is very out of place.

There’s just a cook and no other avenues, so if it stands out, that’s just how it is.

The only advantage is that even though it’s in a remote area, the rent is cheap, and to make things easier, plus needing a temporary place to stay, and not convenient to stay at an inn, he just bought it directly.

The small restaurant has been open for several months now, doing those things again now would seem a bit unreasonable.

So according to Wang Fu’s thinking, anyway, a few people come to eat every day, just let them spread the word slowly, and he didn’t expect to make money right away, even if it’s delayed, fine, as the saying goes, good wine doesn’t fear a dark alley.

But Xiaomi didn’t think so, she actually already had a method to attract customers.

Xiaomi’s method is also simple: ”Just cook a big pot, then have the waiter carry it out, and we can head near the city gate to let the workers try it for free.”

”Free tasting?”

Wang Fu was surprised, he only knew that there were discounts for new store openings, it’s the first time he heard about free tasting.

”Yeah, let everyone try it, and by the way, mention the price. If a meal can fill you up for just five copper coins, it’s pretty good, isn’t it?”

”Also, not only can we eat it in the store, but we can also take it home to eat. After cooking a pot of rice, this is the dish. Even if you don’t eat it daily, once in a while, I think many people would like to change their taste.”

Not to mention, just this unique flavor needs to be simmered with various spices. For people whose families are not well-off, they can’t even afford to buy a little more salt, let alone various spices.

In a restaurant, a plate of vegetarian dishes costs at least ten or more copper coins, and our large bowl costs just five copper coins.

By the way, Wang Fu also mentioned earlier, five copper coins include two liang of noodles and two skewers of vegetables, but if you add more, it’s one copper coin for three more skewers!

It’s so cheap and hearty, to change the taste for the family, it shouldn’t be too hard to part with it, right?

”Alright then, let’s have someone do it later. By the way, Miss Xiaomi, the tofu we froze earlier is still not cooked yet, should we keep it the same after it’s frozen?”

Frozen tofu becomes chewy, and won’t break when threaded on a bamboo skewer.

Xiaomi nodded repeatedly, indicating that’s right, Uncle Wang truly has a knack for business, quickly applying what he learned.

”Then I’ll have someone buy some more to freeze, it’ll be convenient to use tomorrow morning.”

”By the way, Miss Xiaomi, your dad and I are discussing making the rack, would you like to come and see?”

Since we’re letting customers choose themselves, of course, we need to put these vegetables outside, but with the heat of summer, if not handled well, there will be lots of insects.

So they are planning to make something like a bookshelf, preferably with a bottom to place a bucket of ice, allowing the cold air to rise from below.

Xiaomi went outside with Wang Fu, and when passing by the yard, overheard her big brother and Liu Ze studying.

No matter what, the two of them are here for the provincial exam, even if they’ve decided not to pass this time, when it’s time to study, they shouldn’t play too much.

Just stepping outside, they heard Jiang Hu’s hearty laughter: ”This method is good, using wooden boards for other places, and bamboo slices in the middle!”

”Oh, have you thought of a good idea?” Wang Fu quickly picked up his pace.

”Yes, it was Zi Ang who thought of it, first using wooden boards for the main frame, bamboo slices in the middle, slightly spaced apart so that the cold air from below can rise up, and the surroundings can be wrapped with quilts to prevent heat loss.”
