Transmigrated as a Peasant Baby Who is Pampered by All

Chapter 429: Chapter 265: Mountain Deer (Part 2)

Jiang Hu suddenly shivered and strode toward the sound, ”Xiaomi, what’s going on with you? How’s Ziang? Is he alright?”

Only Xiaomi’s voice could be heard, no sign of Wei Ziang’s voice, which was concerning.

”The little brother is fine, we caught a big one, but we can’t carry it. You guys hurry over!”

As he spoke, Xiaomi slid directly down a small slope, with bloodstains on his face and body. Jiang Hu shuddered instantly, and even his voice changed.

”Are you hurt?”

Xiaomi casually wiped his face, ”No, Xiao Ge and I are fine. It’s the deer’s blood.”

Jiang Hu paused in his steps, and Chen Bantou, who was following closely, nearly bumped into his back, exclaiming at the same time, ”A deer? You caught a deer?”

Xiaomi scratched his head, ”It should be a deer, looks a bit like a goat, but its antlers are huge. Xiao Ge says it’s a mountain deer. It’s so heavy, probably around fifty to sixty pounds. We barely managed to drag it nearby, we’re exhausted.”

Chen Bantou gasped, ”A fifty to sixty-pound deer? You caught it yourselves?”

Xiaomi raised his chin, ”Of course!”

Then he quickly urged, ”Hurry up, there’s a pit over there, quite deep. The deer accidentally fell in earlier, and we can’t get it out.”

Then he turned around and led Jiang Hu and Chen Bantou into the mountain.

Their voices were not low, and since everyone was relatively close by, naturally, they all heard it. Some were in disbelief, some were surprised, and some were skeptical.

However, how these people viewed it clearly didn’t concern Xiaomi.

Before encountering that deer, they had hunted several wild rabbits. There were indeed many wild rabbits in the mountain, and wild chickens too, but the chickens would run away at the slightest noise, so they didn’t catch any.

They were about to head back when they saw an adult buck grazing not too far away, so they couldn’t resist staying.

In the end, the two of them decided to aim for one leg each.

Their little bows and arrows didn’t have enough lethality, but by infusing a bit of Inner Strength, they could wound it. As long as the buck was injured in two legs, it couldn’t run fast, allowing them to follow and finish it off.

However, they were accidentally dragged a bit far by the injured buck. Plus, the buck was too heavy. They were huffing as they brought it back, still picking up the wild rabbits from before, causing quite a delay.

If the path were flat, they might have managed slowly, but midway something happened, and the buck fell into a near two-meter-deep pit that they couldn’t retrieve it from.

At this point, there was no choice. One had to stay behind while the other went to inform the adults. Wei Ziang felt uneasy about leaving Xiaomi alone in the mountain, so he sent Xiaomi back to find help.

Thus, the scene described above unfolded.

Xiaomi led the way while explaining to the two adults. He casually pulled arrows from the quiver to show them the blood on the arrowheads.

”That deer was tough. Xiao Ge and I almost used all our arrows. If it hadn’t fallen, we would have had to give up.”

”Luckily, our luck pulled through. After using the last arrow, it hopped a few times before laying down.”

Chen Bantou looked at the fresh blood on the arrowhead, which barely covered an inch of it, showing the two kids were quite weak.

Thinking about that buck, had it been an adult Hunter who encountered it, one arrow could have finished the job. But it ended up encountering two kids.

Just from listening to Xiaomi, it was clear their aim wasn’t bad, only lacking in strength. Imagining what the buck went through, Chen Bantou couldn’t help but shiver.

That poor creature, hopefully in its next life, wouldn’t encounter these two kids again. It couldn’t even die properly!

More than that, though, was admiration for the two kids. Hunting was something even adults occasionally tried without much success. Typically, traps are set at night, and checked in the morning.

When lucky, they might catch something, but most of the time, it was a waste of time.

Unexpectedly, these two kids, on one trip, had such a bountiful harvest!

Even without the buck, catching some rabbits was already impressive!

With Xiaomi chattering non-stop, they soon saw Wei Ziang.

”Uncle Jiang, Chen Bantou, you’re here, great.” Wei Ziang also had quite a bit of blood on him, but looking at his complexion, he seemed unhurt.

However, when Jiang Hu approached, he still asked a few questions to ensure he was okay before turning to look at the nearby pit.
