Transmigrated as a Peasant Baby Who is Pampered by All

Chapter 436: Chapter 268: The Not-So-Small Little Restaurant (Part 2)

The best kind of business is one that is low-cost, low-profit, relies on high volume for profits, can be sustained for a long time, and even if people notice it, they won’t mind.

Wei Ziang: ”The people around here are all ordinary folks, many are struggling financially, and there aren’t many consumers, making business difficult.”

Xiaomi was somewhat surprised as she looked at Wei Ziang, he’s not that much older than herself, how does he know so much?

Wei Ziang looked back puzzled, trying to ask what Xiaomi was looking at.

Then Xiaomi shook her head, what was she thinking, in this era, people can become parents at fifteen or sixteen, naturally different from the previous life’s peaceful times, unlike those young kids in the first or second grades.

”What’s wrong?” Wei Ziang was more confused by Xiaomi’s series of reactions.

”Nothing.” Xiaomi shook her head and said, ”I just thought that business doesn’t necessarily mean making others spend lots and lots of money, even a copper coin is money.”

The rich have their way of spending, and the poor have theirs.

Earlier when they were eating in the backyard, there were laborers eating in the front yard as well.

Some of these people live outside the city, where going home for a meal delays their work time.

Some live in the city but stay in cramped, crowded places, where the wealthy would hardly set foot.

These latter ones are mostly working and earning money from out of town, several big guys crammed into one room, they don’t cook and come out to eat something cheap.

As for those with someone cooking at home, they obviously wouldn’t be willing to eat out.

These were all stories Uncle Wang told them during meals.

This is the west side of the city, the West City Gate is just nearby, and this area is almost equivalent to a slum.

When he initially rented this place, it wasn’t mainly to earn money, but to have a non-intrusive place to settle down and plan slowly.

The street in front of them is exactly between the west and south parts of the city, with a slum behind and a civilian area in front. Even if things are cheap, at least there’s no worry of losing money.

Judging from Uncle Wang’s confident and assured demeanor, Xiaomi guessed that Uncle Wang should have the next step planned, not just this shop in front of them.

But those things are other people’s private matters, business secrets, after all. What she is thinking about now is the affairs of this shop.

As they talked, they had already reached the door to their room, and the second aunt called Xiaomi to rest first.

Recently being almost entirely on the cart, even without doing much, people felt very tired, and Xiaomi was no exception.

This sound sleep was definitely more comfortable than resting for a whole day on the cart!

Xiaoxue was folding clothes, ready to put them in the cabinet: ”Xiaomi, which bed do you want to sleep on?”

Aside from the room of the second aunt and Jiang Hu, the other three rooms each had two smaller beds, which didn’t take up space and were convenient.

”I’m fine with anything, I’m so tired, second sister. I can’t hold on any longer, I want to sleep now.”

She hadn’t felt it before, but now when she saw the bed, she yawned directly, and sleepiness instantly overcame her.

Almost with eyes half-closed, she found the nearest bed to her, plunged onto it directly, and then didn’t move.

After setting her clothes, Xiaomi shook her head, flipped Xiaomi over, moved the ice block in the room closer to her, and considerately covered Xiaomi’s belly.

Even if it’s summer, the belly needs to be covered, especially for girls. Otherwise, it’s easy to get a stomachache, and when grown, it might ache as well.

This time, Xiaomi was truly exhausted, even more so than moving from Fu’an Village to Xiangmu Village!

Moreover, she was not just tired, but also hot, and constantly felt suspended above ground; luckily, she could find some time each day to stroll around the mountain, or else she didn’t know how she could have persisted.

In this regard, she had to admire the others, even those who weren’t physically fit, and some were very frail scholars.

Everyone gritted their teeth and persisted, no one uttered a word of complaint, at most they’d gripe about the wretched weather, wondering if a sudden rain would come.

But Xiaomi felt she could barely hold on anymore; luckily, Wei Ziang always managed to invite her for a walk on the mountain, at least for some exercise.

Even so, she was completely exhausted now, if not physically, then emotionally drained.

Nonetheless practiced, though she was tired, she recovered quickly and woke to find her second sister was still resting.

Half of the ice block in the room had already melted, only then did Xiaomi know that Uncle Wang had prepared it for them too.

Though she was awake, she didn’t want to get up, listened carefully, and found no sound from the other rooms either; Xiaomi just closed her eyes and directly entered the space.

She still remembered what Uncle Wang mentioned before the meal, what kind of business could succeed in this place?

”Owner, you’re back? What would you like to do to pass the time today?” Recently, while on the road, she pretended to sleep often and sneaked into the space.

But the space was just that big, with only Ling’er, and practicing swordsmanship there seemed to have hit a bottleneck, for a long time there had been no progress.

Feeling bored, she’d just do random things to kill time.

”How are the mint and ageratum I transplanted before?”

Earlier she found a large patch, dug a potful, and made a pot with soil to plant them to take along. Of course, she also secretly planted some in the space.

”They are growing very well, Master, they are blossoming now. I will collect the seeds when the time comes.”

Xiaomi had already seen the two plants, planted on either side of the main door, though they grew differently, one tall and one short, both had light purple flowers.

Xiaomi touched the leaves of the ageratum. In her memory, it was a very tasty, edible plant.

Of course, this was limited to those who liked the taste, much like cilantro and houttuynia; those who like it love it, and those who don’t can’t stand the sight of it.

However, obviously Xiaomi belonged to the former.
