Transmigrated as a Peasant Baby Who is Pampered by All

Chapter 395: Chapter 254: North, South, East, and West

The good place Xiaocao mentioned is surprisingly where Xiaomi had been, which is that cave at the top of the mountain.

According to Xiaocao, no matter how hot the weather gets, it’s always cool around this pond.

Even during the drought a few years ago, the water here never ran out!

This very pond almost saved everyone in Cheng County.

Xiaomi admitted to being a bit surprised. Indeed, the world is vast and full of wonders.

The small pond behind Fu’an Village and the underground water had already shocked the nearby villages, yet she never expected there to be an even more impressive one here!

Near the pond, there are large stones, perfect for lying on and taking a nap, with sunlight filtering through the leaves and occasionally a gentle breeze blowing by.

Not too cold, not too hot, just right.

It truly is a great place to cool off.

By afternoon, everyone’s spirits seemed to drop a bit, so Wei Ziang timely suggested heading home. Afterwards, Xiaomi and Xiaocao went to find a patch of herbal plant, split it in two, and uprooted it.

Planting it is definitely doable; Xiaomi was very sure about that.

”Oh, Xiaocao, after you plant the herbal plant, just water it with water from the canal or pond, not the manure water from the latrine.”

Xiaocao: ”Why? Manure water makes crops grow fast, doesn’t it?”

Of course, because your latrine doesn’t have the Spiritual Spring water!

That’s what Xiaomi thought, but what she actually said was something more logical.

”Because the herbal plants in the mountains only get rainwater. When you change locations, let it adapt first. Water it with clean water, and once it’s rooted, then water it with something else.”

Every day, at irregular times, she would put Spiritual Spring water into the pond beside the house. The Spiritual Spring water gets diluted in the pond and then slowly flows into the entire canal, eventually reaching far away.

She couldn’t promise that every household would be able to use Spiritual Spring water for irrigation, but there surely would be some.

She also put Spiritual Spring water into a few of the large ponds in the village, and even the water hyacinths inside grew better.

Spiritual Spring water is a renewable resource. As long as it’s not extracted too much at once, it doesn’t affect her at all.

Since that’s the case, Xiaomi didn’t care whether the Spiritual Spring water that flowed far away was wasted or benefited the people downstream.

When Jiang Yu and the others came back at night, they brought back over a dozen copper coins. It was from trading the herbal plants from yesterday.

Xiaomi immediately pulled Wei Ziang along and delivered the money to Xiaocao, casually asking if the batch they picked today should be sent to the city pharmacy by her big brother tomorrow.

Zhang Yuan, who is Xiaocao’s father, was of course very happy that Jiang Yu could help and even personally brought two carp to deliver the herbal plants collected today to the Jiang family.

The carp were not big, but enough for braising. Xiaocao’s grandfather had caught them in the pond that afternoon.

The Jiang family didn’t need to keep so much herbal plant. They only kept the first day’s batch, washed, dried them, and kept them for brewing. The rest were intended to be sold entirely.

As for the money made from selling the herbal plants, neither of the adults wanted any of it, leaving all of it to Xiaomi and Wei Ziang themselves.

In this regard, the couple was particularly generous. The money the kids earned themselves, they got to keep themselves.

And the fact that herbal plants could really be sold quickly spread through the village.

Afterwards, almost every day, many people went up the mountain, from seven or eight-year-olds to adults with time on their hands.

With more people, the chance of finding herbal plants diminished. Even if they could find some, they wouldn’t gather many in one day.

As a result, Xiaomi got a bit bored and began thinking of finding something else to do.

”Xiaomi, let’s go to the mountain to find wild berries.”

When Xiaocao was led in by Wei Ziang, Xiaomi was in the pavilion in the courtyard, resting her chin in her hands, daydreaming.

”Wild berries?” Xiaomi nodded in a daze, then noticed that Xiaocao wasn’t carrying her basket today but had changed to a bamboo basket.

In the past two days, the few of them had found only less than a pound of herbal plants, so they didn’t bother selling them and kept them at home.

Especially in the Jiang family, the earliest batch of herbal plants had already been soaked in water for the workers to drink.

”Yeah, you can eat them; they’re sweet and sour. Lately, there are a lot of them, and if we pick a lot, we can even take them to the city to sell.”

Spring doesn’t have much fruit, but there are a lot of early-ripening wild fruits on the mountain.

Xiaomi immediately remembered: ”Oh right, I almost forgot. My dad used to pick us some when he went up the mountain!”

However, her dad liked to call them ”rice seedling berries,” saying they matured when planting rice seedlings, tasting sweet and sour.
