Transmigrated as a Peasant Baby Who is Pampered by All

Chapter 358: Chapter 242: Decision (3)

With the nourishment of the Spiritual Spring water, there’s no need to worry about the two turtles escaping.

But just in case, she still needs to figure out a way to tell her parents to block the water outlet. Fortunately, she doesn’t have to worry much now, as Uncle Liu spoke for her.

The adults discussed how wide the fence blocking the water outlet should be to prevent the turtles from escaping while ensuring smooth water flow, and ideally, small fish could swim in and out freely.

Xiaomi pondered how she could sneak into the town without her parents knowing.

She wanted to buy two piglets, preferably uncastrated, to put a male and a female in her special space, allowing them to freely develop.

However, this seemed a bit troublesome. If piglets aren’t castrated, the meat can taste gamey, and during mating season, they not only don’t grow but also lose weight.

The problem is, from what Xiaomi has learned in the past two years, piglets need to be castrated at about one month old.

And the piglets sold outside are usually about two months old.

This means that even if she goes to the market and is lucky enough to encounter piglets for sale, they would all already be castrated.

Quite a tough situation.

Just as she was thinking, she heard Uncle Liu laughing and nodding: ”It’s good to raise them, now it’s not like we’re short on food. After a few years of raising, who knows how many little turtles might be born.”

Xiaomi’s eyes sparkled as she asked, puzzled: ”Mom, why don’t we raise sows at home?”

”Today, I heard from Xiaocao that their family raised a sow, and it gives birth to many piglets each year. They don’t have to buy any, and the piglets can be sold for money.”

This wasn’t something she made up. Xiaocao said it herself.

Her family just sold a litter of piglets last month.

It’s just a pity that she was late and missed them; otherwise, she would have tried to secretly buy two uncastrated ones.

”Well...” Her mother didn’t know how to respond for a moment and could only look toward Jiang Hu.

Then Uncle Liu spoke up again: ”Xiaomi’s idea is good. Little Jiang, I’m not saying this lightly, but your family reaps great harvests from anything you plant and raises anything well.”

”Now that you’ve settled down, why not hire someone to do the fieldwork, and you just need to focus on the big picture?”

”The same goes for those chickens, ducks, geese, and rabbits. Find a place and raise more. The same with pigs; buy a few sows and hire some farmhands to look after them. Won’t this make more money than if you did the work yourselves?”

”The most important thing is, you’ll have a lot less pressure, right?”

Xiaomi nodded vigorously like a little chicken pecking rice. Indeed, every successful person has a team working under them.

To achieve big goals, one must learn to employ talent.

In the next moment, Uncle Liu shifted his attention to Xiaomi: ”Look, even Xiaomi thinks I’m right.”

Xiaomi chuckled softly a couple of times: ”Back in Fu’an Village, didn’t our family also have many farmhands? We planted plenty of crops.”

”Uncle Liu, I understand what you mean.” Jiang Hu nodded. ”It’s just that we’ve just arrived in Xiangmu Village and aren’t familiar yet. To be honest, I do have such plans.”

With only a couple of pairs of hands, the work they can do is limited, as are the harvests.

With three boys in school, the expense on ink and paper each month is substantial. Relying solely on planting those few crops is unlikely to cover it.

So, the couple has been discussing this matter at night over the past few days.

Can they really let the children stop studying?

That’s not an option at all.

Education is essential, even learning a little reading and writing is far better than knowing nothing at all.

Not to mention the pursuit of scholarly honors, which shop managers don’t possess those skills of literacy and eloquence?

Reading more offers a future with more opportunities, unlike them, who have spent a lifetime farming.

As parents, they naturally hope their children will have a less burdensome life than their own.

This is a shared sentiment between the couple. After all, having farmed for most of their lives, no one understands the hardships better.

Since Jiang Hu already has some ideas, Uncle Liu said no more. Jiang Hu is steady in his ways, and once he decides on something, he rarely changes his mind.

Furthermore, Jiang Hu approaches everything with prudence, which satisfies and reassures Uncle Liu.

Compared to those rushing headlong, Uncle Liu favors Jiang Hu’s cautious approach.

Also, the Jiang family lacks foundational support, making this kind of development more suitable.

After a lunch like that, Xiaomi almost knew her parents’ upcoming plans. Besides providing help from the Spiritual Spring, it seemed there wasn’t much else she could do.

Well, she thought, I’ll just take some time to visit the village, check out those separate ponds, and pour some water into each one. After all, this water is for irrigation.

As for whether the entire village uses it, she doesn’t really mind.
