Transmigrated as a Peasant Baby Who is Pampered by All

Chapter 366: Chapter 245: Looking for Xiaocao (Part 2)

But soy milk can’t be kept for long, so it’s a bowl per person. There’s a small grindstone at the kitchen door, it’s very convenient to use.

”Oh right, Xiaomi, I also made tofu this morning. It should be ready by noon. How would you like to eat it?”

People in the countryside are like this, if they can make it themselves, they wouldn’t buy it. That would be such a waste of money.

”That will do...” Xiaomi bit into her dumpling, so she couldn’t even speak clearly.

Second Mother shook her head, this child, she doesn’t have a bit of a lady’s demeanor.

It’s not that she hasn’t been taught. When there are guests, she’s very polite and refined, and is particularly courteous when eating. ℯℯ𝘭.𝘤ℴ𝘮

Since that’s the case, there’s no need to be too demanding on her usually. After all, Xiaomi is different from her sister, she was never a quiet child since young.

A bowl of soy milk, a plate of fried dumplings, and a satisfying burp after eating — it couldn’t be more comfortable.

Second Mother prepared the food for her, then went to clean the yard. Xiaomi took the initiative to wash the dishes, and then joined her mother in doing laundry.

Lately, the weather has been warming up, and it’s already quite hot in the morning.

Spring is like that; temperatures drop quickly and rise quickly. Sometimes you need to wear a light coat yesterday, and today you can only wear a light skirt.

Xiaomi was happy to play with the water. Her clothes weren’t very dirty; she lathered them with soapberry, scrubbed a bit, and then beat them with the laundry beater for a while, and they were done.

The clean clothes swayed in the pond, the white foam quickly dispersed in the water, attracting a bunch of small fish swimming along with the bubbles.

”Mom, there are so many fish! I’m going to get a bamboo basket to catch fish!”

Saying this, she took action immediately, handed the clean clothes to her mother to wring them dry, and then ran home swiftly.

Second Mother hadn’t even had a chance to speak before Xiaomi had already run far away.

In a short while, she came out with a bamboo basket tied with a string, and threw it into the water, letting it sink slowly.

”There’s no bait, how are you going to catch fish?”

”Don’t worry, I dug a lot of earthworms on the mountain yesterday, I can definitely catch small fish with them.”

After saying this, she took out a bundle wrapped in leaves, opened it, and sure enough, there were earthworms wriggling around!

There were so many, all squirming, it made Xiaomi shiver with dread, almost triggering her trypophobia. She quickly closed it up.

Out of sight, out of mind. As long as she can’t see it, it’s fine.

Second Mother also shivered, then said, ”Why did you bring so many earthworms without putting them in something?”

Xiaomi chuckled awkwardly. It was just on a whim, and there wasn’t much of a container at home. Back in Fu’an Village, at least everyone had a bamboo tube to hold bugs.

The earthworms were taken out from a space when she got the bamboo basket, but she didn’t know what to use to hold them, so she just picked up a couple of leaves from the ground.

In the end, she couldn’t handle it herself; holding them in her hand, she could feel the earthworms crawling in her palm — utterly disgusting.

”Mom, can you find something to put these in? These earthworms are so scary.”

Lips pursed, looking so pitiful as if she was about to cry.

Second Mother sighed, ”You, a girl, why are you so keen on fiddling with bugs? You weren’t scared when you brought them back, and now you’re afraid.”

Despite saying that, she got up and quickly found a chipped clay pot for Xiaomi, and after Xiaomi threw in the earthworms, she didn’t forget to grab a couple of handfuls of dirt from the ground to sprinkle in.

”When your dad comes back, let him make a few more bamboo containers for you. If you dig up earthworms next time, don’t wrap them in leaves.”

Xiaomi immediately cheered, ”Thank you, Mom! You’re the best!”

With bait, there’s no worry about fish not taking the hook. By the time Second Mother finished washing the clothes, Xiaomi’s washbasin was already filled with over twenty small fish.

Xiaomi kept mumbling, saying that the family needed a stone jar, just like the one in Fu’an Village, to keep some fish and eels. This way, whenever they wanted to eat, they could have it at any time.

”Mom, I want to go find Xiaocao to play.” Xiaomi squatted by the basin, looking at the small fish, with plans brewing in her mind.

”Xiaocao? A kid from the village?”

”Yeah, we dug bamboo shoots together yesterday. Oh, Mom, there’s a huge bamboo grove in the mountains behind. When you and Dad have time, can we all go together?”

She had never experienced going to the mountains with her parents before.

”Then let’s go this afternoon. We should be free by then.”
