Transmigrated as a Peasant Baby Who is Pampered by All

Chapter 357: Chapter 242: Decision (2)

”Xiaomi, we’re heading back now. Next time if we go to the mountain, we’ll come find you.”

Xiaocao waved goodbye to Xiaomi while catching her breath, and the others did the same. Xiaomi noticed that Zhang An seemed like he wanted to say something, but she left after saying goodbye and didn’t get the chance.

All the way home, Xiaomi felt that Zhang An was acting strangely. Today, while she was digging up bamboo shoots with Xiaocao, he came to find her several times.

Could it be that he wants more beef cubes?

That can’t be. The beef cubes are just to build rapport with the kids, you can’t keep giving them out; otherwise, you’d eventually be seen as a sucker.

But to be fair, the beef jerky I bought last time is already finished. This kind of all-natural beef jerky is indeed tastier than beef cubes loaded with spices and additives.

Over the years, my taste has been spoiled by the Spiritual Spring water. Snacks with additives taste off somehow, not right.

So even if I had the opportunity, Xiaomi never took out the snacks from the space because it wasn’t necessary.

”What are you thinking about? Daydreaming as soon as you get back. Was going up the mountain fun today?” A pat on the head; it’s Mom.

Taking a closer look, I’ve already reached home, sitting at the kitchen door, and the bamboo shoots in the basket have been taken by Aunt to soak in clean water.

Xiaomi’s eyes shifted: ”Mom, do you know how to make preserves?”

The space inside has lots of fruit trees, almost all grown from seeds. From sprouting to flowering and bearing fruit takes several years.

And those fruit trees were cultivated from seeds that she found among resources from the previous world.

In the last couple of years, they’ve been flowering and bearing fruit gradually, and the fruits have accumulated quite a bit.

But these fruits are mostly not found in Cheng County, at least Xiaomi hasn’t seen them yet.

However, the absence of fruit doesn’t mean you can’t make dried fruit or preserves with them, right?

Unfortunately, Aunt shook her head: ”Never made it. Why? Do you want to eat preserves? Shall I ask your big brother to buy some for you tomorrow?”

”No need, I’m just asking randomly.”

Since Mom doesn’t know, I’ll look for other ways. Isn’t there a lot of books in the space? If I flip through more, maybe I’ll find books on this topic.

”Tired from going up the mountain? Go rest or take a look at Xiaohui, while I go cook. We’ll have the bamboo shoots Xiaomi dug herself for lunch.”

Aunt stroked Xiaomi’s hair and busied herself.

Still thinking about the fruit preserves, Xiaomi also didn’t forget to go check on Xiaohui and the three babies.

The three little pups are all pitch-black, just like Xiaohui.

Looks like Xiaohui’s genes are strong; can’t tell who the dog dad is at all.

Spent a bit of time with Xiaohui, fed it some Spiritual Spring water, and even gave it an apple from the space to replenish vitamins, then Aunt called her for lunch.

Nowadays, during lunch, there are fewer people at the table, only four, and the dishes are simple. Even Uncle Liu said it’s not as lively.

Thankfully, everyone returns at night, then it’s a crowded big table again.

”By the way, Hu, I saw two turtles in the courtyard pond today. Could there be a turtle nest in the pond?”

Aunt suddenly mentioned this, and it surprised Xiaomi.

Of course, others were more surprised, like Jiang Hu and Uncle Liu.

”Really? How big are the turtles?”

Aunt recalled: ”A bit smaller than the ones caught last time. When I called you for lunch earlier, I saw them sunbathing on the steps.”

Jiang Hu stood up with his bowl, rushing to the front yard to check. Moments later, he returned, excitedly saying: ”It’s true, they’re still there.”

Uncle Liu also happily said: ”That’s luck, it fits the timing too, as the fields are done. Little Jiang, why don’t you chop some poles this afternoon to block the drain under the fence.”

Jiang Hu nodded: ”I was thinking that too. Just took a quick look, seems like there’s a male and a female, might lay eggs eventually, and the turtles will increase.”

Uncle Liu: ”Your family really is favored by fortune, good things happen wherever you go. This courtyard has never been known to have turtles in the pond before.”

Millennia turtles, ten-thousand-year tortoises—these turtles are a good thing!

Quietly eating, Xiaomi couldn’t help but secretly laugh.

A pair of turtles, male and female, of course, she placed them there. Every day she pours lots of Spiritual Spring water near the pavilion, not only to nurture the turtles but also the water hyacinths and little fish.
