Transmigrated as a Peasant Baby Who is Pampered by All

Chapter 377: Chapter 249: Plantain

From her mother’s words, Xiaomi realized for the first time that when they were in Fu’an Village, her parents weren’t as indifferent as they appeared.

It turned out that, unbeknownst to her, no matter what they did, her parents would think deeply about whether it would affect her negatively.

There were even many suggestions for making a fortune that Liu Bo mentioned, but her parents refused.

It wasn’t that her parents were too timid to try, but rather, they feared that if they succeeded, it would incite more envy about the so-called ’Little Lucky Star’ bringing good fortune.

Although this was just an intangible title, in reality, it could bring significant trouble and danger.

Especially to Xiaomi herself.

To put it seriously, back in Fu’an Town, it was essentially because the Liu family was there that no one dared to harm Xiaomi.

If it were elsewhere, Xiaomi would have long disappeared from the Jiang household.

Thinking of this, Xiaomi sighed lightly, she once thought the villagers were simple, but now realized it was because everyone knew Liu Ze’s father was the County Magistrate!

Ordinary people might not know, but those familiar with the Liu family, like Shopkeeper Liu from Fulai Restaurant, surely did!

It was truly a blessing in disguise, remembering how back then, after she and Jiang Wei drank the Spiritual Spring water, even the water used to wash diapers contained its essence.

And when that water was poured into the fields, the insects grew large and plump, attracting many birds.

It was then, in an effort to prevent being demonized alongside Jiang Wei, that her parents spread the word subtly among the crowd that they were the reincarnations of lucky stars.

Although it was later proven that she alone was the Little Lucky Star and Jiang Wei was just incidental, the news had already spread.

The various agricultural harvests only further confirmed the ’lucky star descending to earth’ tale.

Although this rationalized the bizarre occurrences, it also attracted attention, leading to the incident where someone dared to ask Xiaomi to make it rain during a drought.

From that time, her parents consciously restrained themselves, which explains why the family did not expand their poultry farming despite its potential.

Despite being able to hire more hands to cultivate more land and raise more pigs, her parents didn’t.

Even when they initially enthusiastically planted several acres of lotus roots, they ended up only planting a small perimeter around the pond.

And then there’s the matter of brown sugar!

Before the drought, they talked about growing sugarcane with Jiang Hu to make brown sugar, even Liu Ze said they could have someone find sugarcane seeds.

But in the end, that plan fell through.

Thinking back now, it was likely to remain low-key since the Little Lucky Star story had already spread locally.

Luckily, the Jiang family hadn’t become overly wealthy; even if people were envious, they weren’t overly jealous, especially since everyone benefited and wasn’t much worse off than the Jiang family.

On the surface, besides the large house funded by Liu Bo, the Jiang family had a bit more land and poultry, sending some produce to restaurants daily.

Though the Jiang family had many children and no elder support, they still wore basic clothes and shoes, with wooden hairpins.

On the surface, the Jiang family was merely better off than others in Fu’an Village.

Fortunately, it was just slightly better, preventing jealousy and malice from arising.

But now that they’ve moved, no one nearby knows about the Lucky Star story.

Thinking carefully, when they moved, they kept it completely secret; even those they left in the village didn’t know where they went.

They didn’t even know they moved to Cheng County, only that they had relocated.

Currently, no one in the village knows about the ’Little Lucky Star’ tale.

Even the various seeds of bumper harvests in Fu’an Village had long been spread throughout Cheng County and even the entire prefecture by the Agricultural Department.

So now, the crops they grow are considered good, but not outstanding.

As for Liu Ze’s parents, they probably wouldn’t tell too many people, as too many knowing wouldn’t benefit Cheng County.

For instance, if people in the prefecture knew that there was a so-called Little Lucky Star that could increase crop yields, what if the officials suddenly got the idea to move their family to the prefecture?

Although the Jiang family’s Little Lucky Star isn’t noteworthy now, if they moved, those delicious chicken, duck, and goose eggs would be gone.
