Transmigrated as a Peasant Baby Who is Pampered by All

Chapter 383: Chapter 251: Warning

By the time Second Aunt returned, Wei Ziang had already prepared all the dishes, and the rice was steaming, just waiting to be cooked.

”Ziang? Didn’t you go to school? Why are you back?” Second Aunt was even more surprised than Xiao Mi. ”Did the teacher give you a holiday?”

Second Aunt and Aunt Yang had just gone to the fields to gather wild grass. Recently, two rabbits were pregnant, and they needed to prepare more hay in case it rained and food was scarce.

”No, I came back early today because I had something to do.” Wei Ziang glanced at Aunt Yang, then looked at Second Aunt. ”Aunt, I have something I want to tell you.”

Wei Ziang’s behavior was too obvious to go unnoticed.

Although curious, Second Aunt said, ”Let’s go to the front to talk. Aunt Yang, please help stir-fry the dishes for now.”

On the way to the front yard, Second Aunt asked about Xiao Mi’s whereabouts and found out that the girl had actually gone to sleep.

”Alright, Ziang, there’s no one here now. What is it you wanted to tell Aunt?”

Wei Ziang had been with the Jiang family for four full years, and Second Aunt had long regarded him as her own son. Whatever Jiang Yu and Jiang Wei had, Wei Ziang wouldn’t miss out on either.

Of course, some of Jiang Yu’s old clothes that were still in good condition were altered by Second Aunt, and both brothers shared them.

Now that Wei Ziang had something to discuss with her, her instinct was to think that there might be a need, like buying something.

However, as soon as Wei Ziang spoke, Second Aunt knew she had misunderstood.

”Aunt, it’s like this. You know how Xiao Mi likes to drag me out to play every afternoon; she also tells me things...”

Wei Ziang summed up his words, talking about Zhang An’s affairs.

”When I came back today, I happened to see Zhang An blocking Xiao Mi. I was worried he might have ill intentions, so I specifically asked the teacher for a leave of absence. During this time, I’ll be following Xiao Mi.”

The past few days, Xiao Mi had been mentioning it. Initially, Xiao Mi casually brought it up, and he didn’t pay much attention. But after a few days, he had no choice but to take it seriously.

”Zhang An?” Second Aunt was puzzled. ”That name sounds familiar. Why is he following Xiao Mi?”

Wei Ziang paused for a moment and observed Second Aunt’s expression carefully, confirming she really didn’t remember.

”He’s the eldest grandson of the village chief, eight years old, a boy. Xiao Mi said she refused him many times, but he still likes to follow her. Wherever she goes, he quickly finds her.”

Second Aunt was taken aback. ”Is it him? I remember now, he came before to ask Xiao Mi to dig bamboo shoots. Why is he following Xiao Mi every day?”

She frowned as she spoke. ”That girl, such a big issue, why didn’t she tell us? It’s really reckless. If it weren’t for you telling me, who knows how long she would have kept it from us.”

Zhang An following Xiao Mi could be a serious matter.

As the saying goes, boys and girls above the age of three shouldn’t share a seat. While rural folks aren’t that particular, it’s generally limited to their own siblings.

Well, Liu Ze and Wei Ziang are practically considered half-sons of theirs, so with their children, they are like siblings too.

But that Zhang An, following Xiao Mi every day, is an issue.

The last time Zhang An came to find Xiao Mi, she glanced at him briefly; he’s seven or eight, not young anymore.

Working together to dig bamboo shoots and gather pig grass is fine, but if he’s following Xiao Mi every day, there’s a problem.

It’s not that she likes to overthink, but raising a daughter naturally makes one most concerned about these issues.

Seeing that Aunt was now taking this seriously, Wei Ziang also breathed a sigh of relief.

”Aunt, Xiao Mi and Zhang Xiaocao planned to go up the mountain this afternoon. I suspect Zhang An will follow them. Since I’ve taken leave, I’ll accompany Xiao Mi for the next few days. I will warn that Zhang An to stop following Xiao Mi.”

He had thought this through last night. Today at school, he specifically asked the teacher for leave.

Because he usually studied quickly and did his homework well, the teacher knew he had something to do and didn’t trouble him—only reminded him not to fall behind on his work.

As for how to warn Zhang An, he had devised a few strategies last night, which would be revealed in time.

But Second Aunt obviously had a different perspective.

”You’re still a child too. Go back to school tomorrow. I’ll discuss this with your uncle, and your uncle will remind Zhang An’s dad, as he works in our house.”

Second Aunt believed this matter should be handled by the adults.
