Transmigrated as a Peasant Baby Who is Pampered by All

Chapter 372: Chapter 247: Building Good Relations (Part 2)

Even though they were both rather slow to warm up and not ones to enjoy crowds, it didn’t mean they wanted to draw a line with Xiangmu Village.

Therefore, Erniu’s deliberate words were simply an attempt to seize this opportunity and have Zhang Yuan and Chunhua spread the word.

Zhang Yuan was indeed pleased upon hearing this, even straightening his slightly hunched back noticeably.

”Alright, alright, the village has finished its busy period recently, so many people are free now. Jiang Hu, when you’re available, come to the village, and I’ll introduce you to some hardworking and honest folks.”

Building a pigsty is also a significant task. It’s not something that can just start immediately without consulting the right time first.

This plan seemed to be decided just like that.

Zhang Yuan is undoubtedly an honest man; you can tell from even a simple conversation. That’s why Jiang Hu spoke of him this way.

But in these times, there aren’t that many cunning people, especially those working the land. Every bite of grain is dug out one hoe at a time. How can a family be supported without honest labor?

Once they crossed the hill, the vast sea of bamboo left Jiang Hu and Erniu astounded. At least two acres of bamboo forest, it was the first time they’d seen such a thing!

Xiaomi cheered and rushed down with Xiaocao. Once inside the bamboo forest, all the heat was blocked, and it was very cool.

Today, everyone wasn’t too far apart. While digging bamboo shoots, they could chat. As they got familiar, curiosity arose about where the Jiang family had moved from.

Before long, others began to trickle in to dig for bamboo shoots. Xiaocao was right; many adults and children would come to dig up bamboo shoots in the coming days.

Xiaocao also mentioned that they wouldn’t have come so early if Xiaomi hadn’t arranged this meeting, so her family came a bit earlier on purpose, rather than with the others in the group.

After Xiaomi and Xiaocao were spotted, other children, especially those they met yesterday, came over, some even bringing their siblings.

In just a short time, Xiaomi was introduced to so many new friends that she was dazzled, unable to remember a single name.

It was only then that she realized the village had a surprisingly large number of children. There were more than a dozen her age, not to mention those a bit older or younger, even more.

This realization left Xiaomi in awe of human reproductive capabilities. The village didn’t have that many households, and yet there were so many children!

These days, the concept of having only one child is nonexistent. Everyone believed in having many children for more blessings. Many families aimed to have several sons, some even having seven or eight consecutively.

Of course, having seven or eight was rare, but having three or four was very common.

Just like Xiaomi’s family, with four siblings. If Erniu got pregnant again, they’d have another child.

But perhaps because of the hardship of twins, Xiaomi and Jiang Wei were already seven years old, and Erniu still had no news.

Aunt Yang once secretly asked Erniu if her relationship with Jiang Hu was good and wondered why, with Xiaomi being so big, there was still no movement in her belly.

In everyone’s minds, as long as kids didn’t starve and could be raised, they should have as many as possible. Many children, especially sons, meant enjoying one’s old age.

Besides, the Jiang family was doing well. They could even send Wei Ziang, a foster son they took in, to school, so raising a few more children shouldn’t be a problem.

Well, that was Aunt Yang’s thought, along with most others.

But Jiang Hu and Erniu didn’t really care. They already had four children, two sons, and two daughters, all well-behaved and sensible. They were happier than most.

However, Xiaomi wasn’t aware of these matters. Her entire afternoon was spent meeting a bunch of kids, feeling overwhelmed and perplexed as to why little brats liked to gather around her.

Not until she vaguely heard a kid far away say to someone beside them, ”She didn’t give me any,” did Xiaomi freeze, then shake her head in amused disbelief.

Did they think knowing her meant they’d get beef chunks?

Those who had beef chunks yesterday must have told others, who then thought knowing her meant she’d give some, right?

Xiaomi pouted, then sighed. In these times, it was hard enough to fill one’s stomach, let alone buy snacks for kids. It’s no surprise everyone loved to eat.

However, sentiments aside, as for the beef chunks, she’d discuss it when there was an opportunity again. She didn’t want others to think she was a pushover, handing out treats daily.
