Transmigrated as a Peasant Baby Who is Pampered by All

Chapter 327: Chapter 232: Mountain Summit (2)

Turns out it was already lunchtime, and they hadn’t come back yet, so Jiang Hu got worried and came to find them himself.

Seeing the two safely back down the mountain, Jiang Hu finally breathed a sigh of relief: ”Why were you out for so long? We’re not familiar with this area. What if you encounter a wild animal?”

Back in Fu’an Village, he used to let them roam the mountains freely because they had lived there for many years and knew there were no wild animals on the nearby mountains.

But they were still unsure about the situation around Xiangmu Village.

”Don’t worry, Dad. We’re being careful, and if there’s any danger, we’ll run away,” said Xiaomi, sticking out her tongue playfully.

Wei Ziang went on to describe their journey up the mountain and the small path they had found.

”Xiaomi wants to see what’s upstream of the creek, Uncle. Tomorrow morning we can bring a machete and check it out. Who knows, maybe we can climb up the mountain.”

By telling him in advance, they wanted to avoid making their family worry again when they didn’t return home for a long time.

”You want to go again?” Jiang Hu frowned. Didn’t I just say, what if you encounter danger?

Wei Ziang explained: ”Don’t worry, Uncle Jiang. The weather has been great these past few years, and the mountains have plenty of resources. Plus, we’re near the county town, so there won’t be any wild animals around.”

Unless there’s no food or water, generally, wild animals will try to avoid human habitats.

Besides, there are many villages near the county. If there were wild animals, they would harm the people, and the County Magistrate wouldn’t just sit by and do nothing.

Eventually, they managed to persuade Jiang Hu to allow them to go up the mountain again the next day, but only on the condition that they return home by noon and not stay out all day, as it would worry their family.

Xiaomi was a bit disappointed that they couldn’t hunt or cook outdoors, which made the fire starter useless, but she had to agree. After all, if she didn’t, they wouldn’t even be allowed to go up the mountain.

Jiang Hu rubbed Xiaomi’s head, ”Don’t be down. We just got to Xiangmu Village and are not familiar with anything yet. Once we know the area better, you can go wherever you want.”

Jiang Hu knew his daughter’s personality well; not letting her play on the mountain was like keeping her cooped up at home without letting her out.

She clearly had a restless spirit but didn’t enjoy playing with kids her age. She just liked running around by herself, so taking an older brother along was already being mature.

With her father’s permission, Xiaomi felt at ease. After lunch, she rested for just a little while before getting up eagerly, wanting to head up the mountain, only to run into Wei Ziang as soon as she left the yard.

Wei Ziang had anticipated this and was waiting for her, with everything packed and ready.

The two sneaked out like thieves, only to bump into the second aunt collecting eggs in the backyard.

Luckily, the second aunt didn’t stop them and just reminded them to be careful on the mountain and come back early.

Xiaomi was just bored, and since there was already a partially cleared path on the hillside, she wanted to continue paving it.

Clearing this path now would be beneficial, making future mountain trips much easier.

In the middle of the afternoon, Jiang Yu and Jiang Wei came looking for them and helped clear a section of the trail until Liu Ze and Xiaoxue showed up, and the group finally headed back.

The next day was the same, but after just three days, Jiang Yu, Jiang Wei, Liu Ze, and Wei Ziang all had to attend school, leaving Xiaomi alone and without the initial enthusiasm.

But losing enthusiasm didn’t mean her curiosity was gone. This water came from the mountain, not the sky. She didn’t believe she couldn’t find the source!

So, when everyone went to school, she took the machete and headed up the mountain alone.

Originally, Xiaoxue wanted to go with her because she was worried, but Xiaomi firmly refused!

If she went alone, she could use things from her special space, like rubber gloves or non-slip hiking shoes.

If her second sister came along, she would feel constrained.

”Woof woof.” Xiao Hei, while biting a chicken leg, followed Xiaomi. Seizing the moment while the little owner was resting, he quickly gobbled down his snack.

The chicken leg was something Xiaomi had Ling’er make, unsalted and without oil, specially prepared as a snack for the pregnant Xiao Hei. A boiled chicken could last several days, and storage in the space kept it from going bad.
