Transmigrated as a Peasant Baby Who is Pampered by All

Chapter 306: Chapter 225: Rainy Day (2)

It’s practically a theft-deterrent! Anyone with even slightly less strength wouldn’t be able to open this door.

Fortunately, her mother has also done farm work for years and has considerable strength, so she should be able to open the door bolt.

Wei Ziang hadn’t seen it yet either, and was curious, so Xiaomi simply dragged him to take a look before continuing to the back door.

She couldn’t help but complain on the way, if the back door was locked from the outside too, then there’s no way out from inside, might as well wait for her dad to come back.

Luckily, her worry was unnecessary; the back door was bolted from the inside, with a latch that looked like a carrying pole, just a bit thicker.

The oil-paper umbrella was a bit old, but fortunately, it was still usable. The two of them shared an umbrella, and since they were kids, they didn’t have to worry about getting wet in the rain.

Exiting the back door, there was a small path laid with pebbles, ensuring their shoes wouldn’t get muddy.

Wei Ziang held the umbrella while following Xiaomi, who stepped out of the door with curiosity and excitement, looking up at the scenery outside.

”Wow, it’s so beautiful, there’s even a creek here.”

Behind the house were terraced fields, but the slope wasn’t steep. A small creek, about three meters wide, meandered down from the top of the mountain, dissecting the terraced fields.

At the foot of the mountain was a larger pond where the creek pooled and then flowed slowly in another direction.

Xiaomi lifted her skirt and ran to the edge of the pond, which was just outside their courtyard, about ten meters away.

The pond water was clear to the bottom, teeming with swaying water plants, with fish occasionally swimming among them, and sometimes a flash of orange could be seen!

”It’s fresh water! This is connected to the fresh water at home!” Xiaomi almost jumped, exclaiming excitedly to Wei Ziang beside her.

Wei Ziang was much calmer: ”Yes, I see it too. The koi in this pond must have been bred from those fish in the courtyard.”

From the layout of this house, it was clear the previous owner had always been raising koi.

Since it was fresh water, over time, when the koi bred, some of the fry would likely make their way to this pond.

As a result, this courtyard pond was full of koi, without the worry of them dying, even if forgotten to be fed.

”Big brother, I really like this new home.” Mainly because it’s big and spacious!

Of course, the previous courtyard was good and loved too, but since she had a fickle heart, she really liked this new home too.

Perhaps it was because when they were in Fu’an Village, they were already quite distant from others, so moving to a new place didn’t seem to make much difference.

Even her parents seamlessly began planning for their future life.

Wei Ziang always held the umbrella, quickening his pace whenever Xiaomi did, slowing down whenever she slowed, making sure she didn’t get a single drop of rain on her.

Seeing Xiaomi so happy, Wei Ziang couldn’t help but chuckle lightly as well.

”I also think the new home is great. Once it clears up, we can go into town. The county town is so close, Xiaomi won’t get bored in the future.”

Xiaomi likes a lively atmosphere but doesn’t enjoy clustering with the village girls. She prefers playing alone and likes strolling around town.

However, Fu’an Village was too far from Xiangma Town, even if Jiang Hu was willing to take Xiaomi with him, she herself was not very willing.

The round trip took two to three hours on the road.

But here it’s different, it’s so close that it takes only a quarter of an hour to get into town, and it’s bound to be lively. It suits Xiaomi’s love for excitement and dislike for interacting with too many people.

Though Wei Ziang didn’t stay long in the village before going to school, he still knew that the villagers liked to gossip about things Xiaomi didn’t enjoy hearing.

That’s why Xiaomi rarely played in the village.

But now it’s great, so close and convenient, walking around without having to hear too much strange talk, it’s wonderful.

Xiaomi grew more delighted the more she thought about it.

”Let’s go, big brother, let’s check out other places.”

As she said that, she grabbed Wei Ziang’s umbrella-holding hand and continued forward.

The creek flowed into the pond, connecting to their courtyard on one side and spreading out into a channel on the other.

The channel circled around the Jiang family and spread throughout Xiangmu Village. The two didn’t venture into the village but stood on a slightly elevated spot to survey it.

Inside Xiangmu Village, there was quite a bit of well-tended farmland, but the houses were mostly shabby thatched huts, with not even a decent brick house in sight.
