Transmigrated as a Peasant Baby Who is Pampered by All

Chapter 326: Chapter 232: The Mountain Summit

Wei Ziang confirmed they should continue climbing. He took the sickle in hand, leading the way and clearing the path, while letting Xiaomi follow behind him.

”There’s a small path here. What exactly is up there? Did anyone specifically go up?”

Xiaomi attempted several times to move ahead, but Wei Ziang stopped him each time, so he had no choice but to be pulled along, looking around curiously.

The path under their feet was narrower than the previous section, but the sides were still well-maintained, continuing to follow the stream upwards.

This time, however, they didn’t head directly up the mountain; instead, they walked a distance forward before connecting to another large mountain.

”It’s possible; otherwise, no one would clear a path this far out intentionally.”

The forest above was even denser. It was the season of spring, and the wild grass alongside the small path was flourishing.

Wei Ziang picked up a stick, brushing aside the grass on either side of the path ahead.

Occasionally, there were rustling noises, but they saw nothing, not knowing what it was.

The two had no specific purpose; they were just curious about how there was a well-maintained path on the mountain.

Little Black returned to their side, presumably tired from running. Being pregnant, she probably didn’t have as much energy as before.

Seizing the moment while petting Little Black, Xiaomi secretly placed some Spiritual Spring water in his palm to recharge Little Black with a bit of energy.

He was daydreaming when he heard Wei Ziang exclaim lightly.

”Huh? The path turned.”

Xiaomi snapped back to attention, looking ahead: ”Whoa, it’s not going up the mountain.”

The two exchanged a glance, seeing the oddity in each other’s eyes.

Wei Ziang eventually took the lead, pulling Xiaomi onward: ”Let’s check it out.”

It was indeed strange. They thought this path went straight to the top, but didn’t expect it to turn.

Not heading up the mountain sped things up considerably.

The two had been navigating the dense forest for quite some time, possibly over half an hour, when Xiaomi was nearly losing patience, and suddenly the view opened up.

They stepped directly out of the forest into a vast land with a magnificent city before them.

”Isn’t this Cheng County?” Wei Ziang’s eyes widened in surprise.

”Huh? This is Cheng County? Have we just circled around back here?”

Xiaomi was dumbfounded; What was this whole trek for, then?

Wei Ziang was thoughtful: ”Look, there are gates to the east, west, north, and south. We must have entered the city from that side yesterday.”

Wei Ziang pointed one direction, and Xiaomi nodded, then he pointed to other directions.

”That side has the finest, largest houses, probably the rich district Ze mentioned. Over there is bustling, the commercial street. The slightly worse-off area should be for the moderately well-off families.”

”But look at our direction; the houses here are very rundown, likely the poorest part of the city.”

Wherever, the better and more bustling places tend to house the wealthy, while the poor gather together; it’s normal.

”Strangely, what’s this path for, really?”

Although they emerged from the deep forest, the small path underfoot hadn’t ended. Looking down, it was clear the winding path continued down the mountain.

Yet, because of the turn, they couldn’t tell where the path ended, only that it led downhill.

Wei Ziang glanced at the sun above and shook his head: ”Never mind, it’s getting late. Let’s head back; there’s no need to go to the top now.”

Xiaomi originally wanted to see the stream’s source, but after this delay, who knows how long before they returned to the turn.

Besides, there’s no more path going up, and proceeding further could be particularly inconvenient.

Xiaomi didn’t hesitate much: ”Okay, tomorrow we’ll take a machete, pack some food, and explore again!”

He clenched his fist energetically, cheering himself on!

With such determination, it seemed they wouldn’t rest until they found the source.

Wei Ziang smiled helplessly, not stopping him, and even began pondering when would be a suitable time to climb again tomorrow.

Having made a decision, the two didn’t delay further. They called Little Black and headed home.

As for who made this small path and why, it was still a complete mystery.

They had just returned to the terraced fields when they heard Jiang Hu calling them from the foot of the mountain.
