Transmigrated as a Peasant Baby Who is Pampered by All

Chapter 307: Chapter 225: Rainy Day (3)

The water channel stretches through the village, eventually disappearing somewhere unknown, but I did see a few ponds, which should be man-made for storing and carrying water.

After all, there is no river in the village.

”Brother, do you remember how many water wells our family has?” Water is so important, we can’t do without it.

”Two wells, one in the front yard and one in the backyard.” The well in the backyard is just outside the kitchen, convenient for laundry and cooking.

”Oh, oh, that’s good, that’s good.” Xiaomi stretched lazily, feeling extremely good.

She glanced at the creek on the hillside: ”It’s a pity it’s raining today, the roads are slippery, otherwise I would’ve gone up the mountain to check it out.”

She yawned again: ”Alright, brother, let’s go back. It’s really cold today, don’t catch a chill from the wind.”

Going out for a walk and a look around really lifts the spirits.

Just like when they went out, the two quietly left, then quietly returned. Wei Ziang put away the oiled-paper umbrella and rejoined the group reading books, while Jiang Yu asked him where he’d been.

Wei Ziang just said he went out for a bit, and Jiang Yu didn’t say much more.

In a few days, school will start; he must study and practice writing diligently, aiming to make some progress compared to last year when school begins.

After all, he returned home from the county, which delayed him for more than half a month. Even though he could read books on the carriage, he couldn’t practice writing.

Jiang Yu is also making the most of his time now, getting some guidance from Liu Ze.

On the other hand, Xiaomi went to find her mother, who was using a burnt small wooden stick to write down the items she needed to buy next.

Similarly, she didn’t know that Xiaomi had just been out.

After greeting her mother, Xiaomi turned around to fetch her short bow and began practicing shooting repeatedly at a certain spot in the yard.

Even though she was feeling wilted and uninterested in everything in the morning, finding everything boring, this little walk outside brightened her mood, making her feel eager to do anything.

Jiang Hu didn’t return until lunchtime, while the servant who went back to get things for Liu Ze came back even earlier than him.

The servant also said that when the master heard that the young master was going to stay at the Jiang household, he immediately packed his things, ready to come over together, but was stopped by the first lady, Liu Ze’s mother.

Liu Ze didn’t react to this, only asking if the servant had bought vegetables and meat.

Fortunately, the servant said that they had bought everything, enough for a few days.

On the third day, it was still raining, but the wagons delivering items to the Jiang family arrived, a dozen vehicles in total, even shocking Jiang Hu.

Such a large convoy, instead of entering the city, directly arrived at the Jiang house, attracting many from Xiangmu Village to come and watch in the rain.

Even though it was raining, the wagons were covered with tarpaulin, keeping everything inside dry, including sacks, boxes, and bundles — this was indeed a proper move.

Because there were so many things, which drew a lot of attention, even the city gate guards came to ask a few questions.

People always have a bit of fear when seeing officials, but luckily, Jiang Hu didn’t need to show up; Qixi went to explain to the guards herself, confirming it was just moving with a lot of stuff, and then came back.

As the belongings arrived, everyone got busy organizing their items. This hustle went on for one or two days before everything was finally tidied up.

The originally empty new house finally filled up. Except for furniture, almost everything else was there, even two carriages of chickens, ducks, and geese, and several piglets were sent over.

Because of the long journey, although these little guys were living strong, they had lost quite a bit of weight, making Xiaomi feel distressed, checking on them three times a day wasn’t enough.

Now, there was no need to worry about being bored; it’s time to start working.

This continuous spring rain finally stopped on the afternoon of the fifth day, and the sun peeked out for a little while.

”Looks like tomorrow will be a sunny day. Early tomorrow we’ll head to the city, visit the Liu family first, then get to work,” Jiang Hu said, returning from outside with some wild grass, removing his raincoat, since it was raining when he left, and it stopped just as he reached the fields.

Xiaomi was idly reading her second sister’s book. Although she didn’t like embroidery, the floral patterns depicted were really beautiful, even a non-embroiderer like her loved them.

Hearing her father’s words, she nearly jumped up with joy: ”Great, finally we can go to the city!”

Jiang Hu hung the raincoat on a pillar to let the rainwater dry off and looked around.

”Xiaomi, where’s your mother? Why don’t I see her?”

Usually, on rainy days, the second mother would be making clothes or tidying up the house, always at home. Not seeing her today made Jiang Hu feel unaccustomed.

Xiaomi pouted: ”Mother is resting, Dad, can’t you be without seeing her for just a moment?”

Being teased by his daughter, Jiang Hu felt a bit embarrassed but still turned and went inside.

To this, Xiaomi could only shrug, thinking that getting used to love-filled teasing is inevitable.
