Transmigrated as a Peasant Baby Who is Pampered by All

Chapter 313: Chapter 227: Water Hyacinth (Part 3)

Wei Ziang and Jiang Wei are still young and won’t be attending the same academy as Jiang Yu and Liu Ze. As for the future, it will depend on their own achievements.

Moreover, they are planning to visit the Liu family tomorrow to see Uncle Liu since they’ve been in Cheng County for several days now. Now that the weather has cleared up, it wouldn’t be right to delay the visit any longer.

After that, it will be time to focus on work.

After dinner, the children cleaned up the kitchen on their own while Second Aunt and Jiang Hu began gathering things for tomorrow’s visit to Uncle Liu.

They didn’t have any valuable items, and Uncle Liu didn’t care for them either, but it wouldn’t be appropriate to visit with just anything.

They picked some nice cured meat and sausages, along with some homemade dried vegetables; these were made at home last year—not the best, but definitely decent.

In addition, they packed some chrysanthemum tea, also homemade.

Yet, looking at the packed items, Second Aunt sighed, ”I still feel it’s missing something. Uncle Liu did us such a big favor, we should show our gratitude properly.”

The sausages and cured meats were from pigs they sent to the Liu family earlier this year, so they definitely have enough of that.

Besides, Fu’an Village always has someone managing it, and food like chicken, ducks, and goose eggs are regularly transported to Cheng County.

Not to mention the Liu family, they just moved here, and they’ve already received two deliveries, sent over by Uncle Liu.

It’s quite amusing—it was Uncle Liu who paid the Jiang family for them, only to send them right back.

Jiang Hu also felt Second Aunt was right, but after thinking about it, it seemed like there really wasn’t anything else at home worth giving as a gift.

They couldn’t possibly give a silver note, could they? Besides, Uncle Liu wasn’t short of money, and if they really gave that, Uncle Liu might just scold them.

”Other than this, there’s nothing else to give.”

Xiaomi was just about to look for her parents when she overheard this conversation at the door.

She stopped in her tracks, then decided to turn back.

So, her parents were worried about what gift to give Uncle Liu; that’s actually easy to solve.

She glanced around, noticing everyone was busy with their own tasks. Xiaomi took a casual look around the courtyard; although there were people there, no one was paying attention to her actions.

So, she wandered around the courtyard casually and ended up by the pavilion.

Beneath the pavilion was a pond with steps leading into the water. The water lilies had been placed there earlier and were still beside the steps.

Xiaomi squatted by the steps and reached out to touch the water surface. The water felt cool.

But it was already dark now, and the moonlight was not bright enough to see much.

Xiaomi sighed softly; it seemed she would have to wait until tomorrow, hoping they wouldn’t leave too early; otherwise, she’d have no chance.

Just as she was thinking this, she heard someone approaching from behind.

”Xiaomi, what are you doing here? Go wash up, it’s bedtime soon.”

”Mom, I’ll be right there.”

Xiaomi replied, hesitated for a second, then quickly reached into the water and made a swift motion before standing up and hurrying back to her mother to wash up before bed.

Second Aunt didn’t ask what she was doing or say much about tomorrow’s visit to the Liu family, only reminding everyone to rest early and wake up early.

Xiaomi muttered to herself, hoping they wouldn’t get up too early. If they set off before dawn, her plans would be ruined.

But she couldn’t say this directly, so she had to see how things turned out in the morning.

All the way until bedtime, Xiaomi was contemplating this matter, even dreaming that before dawn, her parents picked her up to the carriage, and when she woke, she was already in town.

Fortunately, after a night’s sleep, the sky was already bright, and she realized she was still in her own bed at home. Only second sister was already up and about, preparing to call her.

There was still time.

Xiaomi lay sprawled out and stretched, ”Morning second sister.”

Xiaoxue was a bit surprised, as Xiaomi usually wouldn’t wake up without being called. But she nodded nonetheless, ”Good morning, now that you’re awake, get up. I’m going to help mother with breakfast.”

Xiaomi squinted as she agreed, suddenly remembering what she did yesterday and quickly opened her eyes, rolling and sitting up, startling Xiaoxue.

”What’s the matter?”

Only then did Xiaomi realize second sister hadn’t left yet, hurriedly laughing and explaining.

”Nothing, nothing, I just remembered we’re going to the city today, so I’m excited. Second sister, you go help mother, I’ll get up myself.”

Xiaoxue didn’t suspect anything. Xiaomi was naturally energetic, and having been cooped up since they got on the carriage, she was understandably eager to finally go out.

”Take your time to get ready, I’ll head out first.”

Having said that, she genuinely left.

Once the door was closed, Xiaomi quickly got up, changed into new clothes at twice her usual speed, tidied her hair, and rushed out.
