Transmigrated as a Peasant Baby Who is Pampered by All

Chapter 323: Chapter 231: Climbing the Mountain

The short break passed quickly, and the next morning, everyone got up early to work.

The delay on the road before, followed by four or five consecutive days of spring rain, plus yesterday, meant that almost half a month had passed.

Although there was food at home now, seeing all the fields still empty made no one dare to delay.

Not to mention anything else, the sorghum should be planted first. Sorghum is cold and drought resistant and can be planted all year round; the sooner it is planted, the sooner it can be harvested, right?

Xiaomi continued as before, every time she went to the latrine, she would secretly pour Spiritual Spring water into the pit so that the crops in the field could be nourished by it.

This time, Uncle Liu helped them buy a total of twenty acres of land, including six acres of paddy fields. The rest were all fertile lands, and they had all been plowed!

This means that now they only needed to sow seeds, saving a lot of trouble.

Xiaomi also let her little peacocks out. Yesterday, while not at home, the little peacocks were kept indoors, and today they finally can come out to bask in the sun.

When the little peacocks hatched, it was already autumn, and they almost lived indoors through the winter. Now, they have grown quite a bit this past winter.

They are almost over two pounds each, but they’re still covered in grayish feathers, looking like enlarged doves, with no peacock appearance at all.

Xiaomi fed them Spiritual Spring water daily, occasionally fetching some vegetable leaves from the space and mixing them with grains, sometimes even chopping an apple just for them.

Of course, the apples were from old supplies saved up, not freshly grown by them.

The adults worked in the field, and since Xiaomi couldn’t help much, she took a small shovel, wandered around, and brought back a few small seedlings.

Just as she was about to plant them in the yard, Wei Ziang came over.

”Xiaomi, what are you doing?” Xiaomi was holding a small seedling, a brown twig, with two finger-sized young green leaves.

”Planting flowers, one in each yard, just five of them.” Xiaomi lied without blinking.

They were all grapevines, and they were specially propagated from old branches. They had rooted and sprouted. With luck, this year, or by next year at the latest, they might be able to enjoy some grapes!

She didn’t dare take out too many, just five, as she said, one planted in each yard.

Previously, two were planted at home in Fu’an Village, and when they left, they had already started to bud, but unfortunately, they could only let them grow freely in the future.

Xiaomi couldn’t outright say they were grapes, as she hadn’t seen grapes in this world, so she casually lied saying they were flowers.

Wei Ziang believed her: ”Flowers? What kind of flower is this? I’ve never seen it before.”

Xiaomi: ”I don’t know, I just found them while playing outside. Look at how lovely these leaves are; they must be beautiful when they bloom.”

As for what they would eventually grow into, she didn’t care, let it be!

Wei Ziang looked at Xiaomi, then at the small seedlings in her hand.

Indeed, they weren’t ugly, with tender green leaves, but not particularly beautiful, either?

Xiaomi didn’t notice Wei Ziang’s gaze, humming a song and hopping along, she cheerily planted the grape seedlings in empty spots in each yard.

Once they grow a bit larger, they can set up vines and a trellis, no rush.

Wei Ziang trailed after Xiaomi, even helping her carry the grape seedlings. Even though he couldn’t see what was so beautiful about these seedlings, since Xiaomi wanted to plant them, plant them they would.

Xiaomi wore a pink dress today, with a pearl flower hairpin gifted by Aunt Liu pinned in her hair, she looked particularly adorable as she skipped under the sun.

Watching Xiaomi with the pearl flower hairpin, Wei Ziang suddenly asked, ”Xiaomi, do you like this a lot?”

”Huh?” Xiaomi was taken aback, and following Wei Ziang’s gaze, reached up and touched the hairpin on her head, shrugging her shoulders.

”It’s okay, mainly because if I didn’t wear it, Second Sister wouldn’t dare to wear hers either.”

Wei Ziang inquired further: ”Sister Xiaoxue?”

”Yeah,” Xiaomi then lowered her voice mysteriously: ”Let me tell you, the two pearl flower hairpins Aunt Liu gave us are different. Second Sister’s one, it’s a gardenia.”

Gardenias, everyone in the family knew, who loved gardenias the most? Of course, it was Xiaoxue! 𝘧𝓇ℯℴ𝓂

Wei Ziang immediately understood: ”So that’s it.”

He felt a lot better instantly.

After Xiaomi finished planting the grape seedlings, Wei Ziang looked at the time; it was still early, so he asked, ”Xiaomi, would you like to climb the mountain today? I just went to check, the road up the mountain has dried.”
