Super Rich by Doing as You Please

With that, she turned and ran upstairs.

Xu Yun had said that if there were no hotels nearby while they were on the road, they’d have to spend the night in the RV.

She had to pack her underwear and toiletries.

She had never slept in an RV before in her entire life.

’As for what her friends always joked about—getting busy in the RV and all that—well, if the opportunity arose, she wouldn’t be opposed to trying it.’

A short while later, Xino’s father returned.

The moment he walked in the door, he asked, ”Where’s our daughter? Is she not back again?”

”She’s back.”

His wife smiled. ”She’s upstairs packing for her trip tomorrow.”

”You couldn’t talk her out of it?”

”You know what your daughter is like.”

His wife said, ”She’s just as stubborn as you are. Once she sets her mind on something, there’s no talking her out of it.”

”What about her brother?”

The man asked with some confusion, ”I haven’t seen him at the company or at home lately. What’s he doing?”

”Xino said he supposedly got a black eye from carelessly walking into something, so now he’s hiding.”

The man was baffled.

”I don’t know the details. That’s just what our daughter told me.”

The man said nothing, simply pulling out his phone to call his son. The first words out of his mouth were, ”Did someone beat you up?”

”Huh? No, of course not. Who said that?”

On the other end of the line, Xi Wei faltered for a moment before explaining, ”I was just being careless and walked into something. It’ll be fine in a few days.”

”You’re really okay?”

”I’m fine,” Xi Wei said, embarrassed. ”Dad, you don’t need to worry about my affairs.”

”Fine. If you say you’re okay, then you’re okay.”

The man said, ”Also, your sister is leaving for her trip tomorrow. Is there anything you have to say to me about that?”

”Um, there shouldn’t be any problems on the trip this time.”

Xi Wei replied, ”I looked into it. It’s not just the two of them this time. There are other people going.”

”The group leader is an experienced, retired elite recon specialist. He should be able to handle any typical trouble they run into.”

”The kid found him?”

”Mhm.”

Xi Wei knew what his father was thinking and explained, ”But Chen Jiang was the one who introduced this person to him. He didn’t find him himself. He’s a relatively well-known tour guide.”

”Alright, I understand.”

The man paused for a moment, then said, ”It’s just a little injury on your face. What’s the big deal? You’re hiding from us and won’t even come home over it. Look at you, so pathetic. You’ll never amount to anything great in the future.”

Xi Wei was speechless.

After he hung up, his wife asked in surprise, ”Honey, what’s going on with our son? Did he really get beaten up?”

”It seems so.”

The man said, ”It’s just that the boy is too concerned with his pride, so he keeps insisting he ran into something himself.”

”Who beat him up?”

His wife said, slightly angry, ”We can’t just let our son get bullied and act like we didn’t see anything.”

”Who else could it be?”

The man chuckled. ”Probably that fellow our daughter has a crush on.”

”Huh?”

”These are matters for the younger generation. As long as no one crosses a line, we should let them sort it out themselves.”

The man added with a hint of schadenfreude, ”Besides, judging by your son’s tone, it’s not like there’s some deep-seated hatred between them. He just feels aggrieved.

”Things have been going too smoothly for him all these years. That’s not good. It’s a good thing for him to face a little hardship and stumble a bit now.”

”Easy for you to say.”

His wife shot the man a glare and said peevishly, ”I think you’re just eyeing the tea he has.”

The man just chuckled noncommittally, offering no argument.

’In truth, it wasn’t the tea he was interested in, but the man himself.’

’On the surface, his own vast enterprise seemed glorious, but energy was a commodity that could never truly belong to a private individual. The real power was always in someone else’s hands.’

’It was a double-edged sword.’

’When everyone was on good terms, it was a win-win situation.’

’But the moment they had a falling out, this great ship of his would probably sink faster than a rock.’

’For years, he had been thinking about transitioning, investing in other industries, and establishing a new company completely separate from his current one.’

’That way, if something were to happen to him, his family wouldn’t be left without an escape route.’

’And Xu Yun’s sudden appearance, coupled with his recent actions, had given him an idea.’

’If the young man was truly reliable, or a person of real substance, he would be happy to see his daughter with him.’

’Otherwise, did anyone really think he would compromise and let her go on a trip with some man just because she threw a fit?’

’He took certain matters more seriously than anything else.’

’He would never force his daughter into an arranged marriage for the sake of the family, but if she could find a good partner for herself, that would be for the best.’

He hadn’t just tasked his son with investigating Xu Yun’s background; he had hired his own people to run a check as well.

And his report was far more detailed than his son’s.

In his office today, he had reviewed the file. Most of the information was similar to what his son had reported.

Xu Yun came from an ordinary family and had an unremarkable past.

Then, a month ago, after breaking up with his ex-girlfriend, his life had suddenly been turned completely upside down.

The day after the breakup, he went on a luxury shopping spree at the mall, dropping several hundred thousand in one go.

Then he invited his colleagues from work out for a meal that cost over one hundred thousand.

After that, he went to Jiangcheng’s only Red Circle law firm to sue his ex-girlfriend, all to get back a bride price of over one hundred thousand.

Oh, and he had also chartered a private jet through a bank to transport a patient to West China Hospital in Rongcheng for treatment.

After that, it was just endless shopping sprees, and along the way, he started a company and acquired a fitness center.

After meeting his daughter, he paid in full for a top-floor duplex penthouse worth nearly 50 million.

Then, through his daughter, he went to an old friend’s auction and spent 18 million on the Da Hong Pao tea.
