Super Rich by Doing as You Please

Just before noon, a personnel change notice suddenly appeared on everyone’s internal network.

Opening it revealed that Bi Yang had been directly transferred from his original position and assigned to fieldwork.

Not long after this personnel change, another public announcement was released.

It stated that due to Song Xiaowei’s outstanding performance during her internship, which led to a doubling of the listenership for the radio program she hosted, and in light of the station’s high regard for talent, a special decision had been made to grant her a permanent position ahead of schedule.

Keep in mind, a total of 13 interns had started this time, and many of them had connections and powerful backgrounds.

Yet she was the only one to be made a permanent employee ahead of schedule.

And in the worst department, the radio division, no less!

What did this mean?

’It means her connections at the station are unbelievably strong!’

Don’t even start with that ”outstanding performance” and ”valuable talent” nonsense written in the announcement.

If promotions and raises at the station were really based solely on professional skill, if things were truly that fair, who knows how many people would have already moved up.

Instead of a portion of the staff remaining frustrated and stuck as minor clerks for their entire lives.

The two documents, released one after the other, seemed intentional—a vicious slap to Bi Yang’s face.

He had just been talking about getting her kicked out, and now, with a single move from her, *he* was the one getting kicked out.

It also sent a clear, indirect signal to everyone: Song Xiaowei was no pushover. She couldn’t be bullied, and more importantly, she couldn’t be provoked.

Otherwise, you might end up just like Bi Yang.

After the announcements came out, the colleagues who had previously kept their distance from Song Xiaowei, fearing Bi Yang would make things difficult for them, were now warming up to her again, hoping to build a good relationship.

Song Xiaowei didn’t mind this at all. It was just human nature—the instinct for self-preservation.

As long as they weren’t actively trying to harm you, it was fine.

When Bi Yang saw the notice about his personnel transfer in his office, his entire world came crashing down.

Normally, a position transfer like this would be preceded by an advance notice or at least some rumors. It would never happen so suddenly.

He didn’t even need to guess. It was definitely because of Song Xiaowei.

He’d been targeted.

Furious, he directly called Director Wang and demanded, ”Director Wang, what’s going on with this personnel transfer? Why didn’t I know about it? I don’t agree to this.”

Although the pay and rank were similar, working in the main office versus being out in the field were two completely different concepts!

”Bi Yang.”

Over the phone, Director Wang said irritably, ”I’m not the one who arranged your transfer. I’m just in charge of carrying out the order.

Personnel adjustments at the station are decided by the leadership after careful consideration. It’s not something you can just accept or reject as you please.

If you have a problem with it, go talk to the leaders directly. What’s the use of calling me? I’m busy. That’s all.”

With that, the other end hung up. He showed no courtesy whatsoever, maintaining a strictly business-like tone as if he were eager to distance himself from Bi Yang.

He had completely forgotten the scene of them drinking and chatting merrily when Bi Yang had treated him to dinner.

”That son of a bitch! The second I’m in trouble, he turns on me and pretends he doesn’t know me!”

Bi Yang cursed angrily, then had someone call Song Xiaowei to his office.

Since he hadn’t officially been transferred yet and was still her superior, Song Xiaowei went when she was summoned.

’I’d like to see what he has to say for himself!’

As soon as she walked in, she saw him about to close the door and stopped him. ”Director Bi, we’re a man and a woman alone in here. It’s better not to close the door, to avoid any misunderstandings.”

”...” Bi Yang was speechless.

Now that he was the one begging for a favor, he had no choice but to endure it. He invited Song Xiaowei to sit down and then—interestingly enough—poured her a glass of water.

But Song Xiaowei didn’t take it.

Bi Yang didn’t seem embarrassed. He placed it in front of her and said, ”Xiaosong, do you really have to be so ruthless?”

”Weren’t you the one who wanted to kick me out first?”

”What happened before was my fault.”

Bi Yang said, ”There’s a saying: leave a way out for others so you can meet again on good terms. We’re all colleagues. If you just show some mercy this time, I’ll immediately recommend you for other programs to my superiors.”

”Do I need your recommendation?”

”...” Bi Yang was speechless again.

Song Xiaowei shot him a disdainful look and retorted, ”And another thing. You don’t actually think a simple transfer is the end of it, do you?”

”What do you mean by that?” Bi Yang’s expression changed at her words.

Song Xiaowei replied, ”My boyfriend is a man who always does what he says. You should be very clear on what he told you that day.”

”...” Bi Yang fell silent.

”Director Bi, if there’s nothing else, I’ll be heading back.”

Song Xiaowei said coolly, ”I’m not like you, with nothing better to do all day than plot how to harm your female subordinates.”

Seeing Bi Yang’s face turn ashen from her verbal attacks, furious but not daring to speak, she felt incredibly satisfied.

All of this confidence came from that man last night.

’He isn’t by my side, but his influence is always surrounding me, protecting me.’

...

「On the other side.」

Since he had to drive back, Xu Yun took a taxi to the 4S dealership to pick up his RV.

It was his first time driving such a large vehicle, and he wondered what it would feel like.

After what happened yesterday, the 4S dealership’s manager’s attitude toward Xu Yun was nothing short of deferential.

He was terrified that he might accidentally displease him and get beaten up himself.

President Xi had been beaten up and didn’t even dare to make a peep. Did he dare?

He was well aware of how powerful President Xi’s family was in the local area.

Everyone says that even a mighty dragon can’t crush a local snake, but what they don’t know is that’s only because the mighty dragon looks down on the local snake and can’t be bothered to deal with it.

If a real fight were to break out, there’s no mighty dragon that couldn’t cross the river!

Manager Huang felt that Xu Yun was that mighty dragon crossing the river, while President Xi was just the local snake.
