Super Rich by Doing as You Please

「The next morning.」

Xu Yun woke up and ordered some takeout. He and Song Xiaowei had a simple meal.

The main reason was that Song Xiaowei, unlike Su Mu and Ning Qian, couldn’t cook. She was completely clueless, having never once set foot in a kitchen.

While they were having breakfast, Xu Yun said, ”You should find some time to take a day off from work and move. It’s not right for you to keep living in the dorms.

I sent you the address last time. The place should be vacant by now.”

”Okay, I know.”

Song Xiaowei hesitated for a moment before asking, ”That Miss Xi from last night... What is she to you?”

”The same as you.”

Xu Yun answered frankly, ”We’ve slept together twice. She’s a nice person, but her family background is extraordinary. It’s best if you don’t go looking for trouble with her.”

”Okay, I understand.”

”Also.”

Xu Yun shared a WeChat contact with Song Xiaowei. ”This is a saleswoman at the Mercedes-Benz dealership. Go see her when you have time and pick out a car you like. Don’t worry about the price; I’ll give her a heads-up.

Your colleagues all drive to work, but you’re always taking taxis. It’s embarrassing. A woman of mine, Xu Yun’s, shouldn’t have to put up with that.”

’Why go through all this trouble instead of just giving her the money to buy it herself?’

’The reason was simple: just like the other women in his life, he didn’t fully trust her.’

’That’s why for most of the women who were with him long-term, the apartments they lived in and the cars they drove were all assets registered in his name.’

’If any of them dared to break the rules or stab him in the back, he could take it all away at a moment’s notice, leaving them with nothing.’

’It wasn’t that he was being stingy; he just didn’t want to get screwed over one day.’

’Of course, there were exceptions.’

’Chen Xin, for example. Xu Yun treated her a little differently, maybe because of his mother, or maybe because he thought she was too naive.’

’Whenever he did something nice for Chen Xin, it was genuine. Whatever he gave her was truly hers, not just something she had the right to use.’

’Then again, it wasn’t like she had ever taken much from him.’

’Aside from a piece of jewelry or two, a few bags, and the money he’d donated to support her web novel, she didn’t have a house or a car from him.’

’She seemed even less materialistic than Ning Qian.’

’Besides Chen Xin, there was also his high school classmate, Gao Wenwen.’

’He really had given her a commercial storefront worth several hundred thousand, and the deed was in her name.’

’But her situation was different from women like Song Xiaowei and Li Jinshu.’

’Xu Yun considered his relationship with Gao Wenwen to be more of a one-night stand arrangement: they’d sleep together, and he’d give her something in return each time.’

’There was no direct intention or need to maintain a long-term relationship with her.’

’If he had to use a term to describe it, it would be a ”pay-per-meet” kind of relationship.’

”Brother Xu, I...” Song Xiaowei was suddenly flustered with excitement upon hearing that Xu Yun was going to buy her a car.

’He was letting her pick one out herself at a Mercedes-Benz dealership!’

Back when she was a student, she had been so envious watching her classmates drive luxury cars, never daring to imagine she might one day drive one herself.

She used to think she’d be perfectly happy if she could just own a car worth a little over 200,000 yuan someday.

And now, in just a few short days, she was about to own an apartment and a luxury car in a big city like Jiangcheng.

”You don’t have to say anything nice. As long as you understand, that’s all that matters.”

Xu Yun interrupted, ”I never expect you all to genuinely love me. But as long as you’re willing to be with me and don’t betray me, I won’t treat any of you poorly.”

”I can’t speak for the other women, but I genuinely like you, Brother Xu,” Song Xiaowei said with a serious expression.

”Mm, I know. I believe you, too.”

Xu Yun smiled. ”Hurry and eat. When you’re done, I’ll take you to the station, and then I have my own errands to run.”

Logically, Song Xiaowei shouldn’t have been prying into Xu Yun’s affairs. After all, what kind of subordinate asks about their boss’s itinerary?

Their relationship right now was, in fact, quite similar.

But she couldn’t suppress her curiosity. ”Brother Xu, can I ask... are you really going on a trip?”

”Mhm.”

”Where to?”

”Just taking a tour around the country. See the magnificent landscapes of our homeland, enjoy the beautiful scenery, and experience the local cultures.”

Xu Yun looked at her and added a warning, ”But now that you know, you can’t tell anyone else. It doesn’t matter who asks, don’t say a word.”

”Mhm.”

Song Xiaowei said wistfully, ”I wish I could go with you, but I have to work.”

’Her subtext was: I could always skip work and take a leave of absence to go with you.’

’If only you’d agree.’

’After all, with Xu Yun’s connections, getting an extended leave of absence from the TV station’s management shouldn’t be difficult.’

”There’ll be other chances in the future,” Xu Yun said, turning her down.

’The trip was originally planned for two people, but it’s already grown to four. I can’t add anyone else.’

’The reason he told her not to tell anyone was that he was afraid if Su Mu or Li Jinshu found out, they’d also clamor to go with him.’

’In the past, they couldn’t have gone because of work and the need to earn a living.’

’But now that they were with him, they didn’t have to worry about food or clothing. What was stopping them from doing whatever they wanted, without a care in the world?’

Seeing her probe had failed and there was no chance, Song Xiaowei didn’t press the topic further.

After they finished eating, since they were about to part ways, and at Song Xiaowei’s reluctant insistence, the two of them had another ”workout session” before heading out.

By the time Xu Yun dropped her off at the station, she was already late for work.

Normally, or at least before yesterday, the moment she stepped into the office, Bi Yang, who had been targeting her, would have immediately started making things difficult for her.

But not today.

Aside from shooting her a cold glare, Bi Yang did nothing else.

Their colleagues in the office noticed something was up.

Everyone had assumed Song Xiaowei didn’t have any powerful backing, but who would have thought that Director Bi would be so thoroughly rebuffed the moment he made a move against her.
