Super Rich by Doing as You Please

The more he thought about it, the more it felt like a raw deal.

”Bro, this isn’t as simple as just making sure his cousin is safe.”

Xino said angrily, ”For a scumbag like him, we have to get rid of him for good. That way, he can’t harm any other women in the future.”

”...”

Xi Wei said with a sigh of resignation, ”Oh, my dear sister, keeping someone’s job is just as difficult as firing someone with a tenured position.”

”It’s difficult, but not impossible.”

Xino retorted, ”I know, it’s a matter of money, isn’t it? How much? Just name a price. I’ll pay for it.”

”Is this about money?”

Xi Wei finally lost his patience. ”The fact that I made that call today is good enough. Stop being ridiculous.”

”Fine, if you won’t help, you won’t help! What’s the big deal? I’ll find a way myself.” Feeling slighted, Xino turned and left, slamming the door with a loud BANG.

It was a clear reflection of her mood.

Xi Wei was irritated. ’How did I end up with such a love-addled sister?!’

He gently massaged the corners of his eyes. After much hesitation, he decided to help her after all.

But not right now. He would wait until he was presentable again before asking Director Li out for a meeting.

Some matters were far more effective when handled face-to-face rather than over the phone. It was also a better way to demonstrate ”sincerity.”

Connections were one thing, but proper etiquette was still essential.

Otherwise, who would be willing to associate with you or help you out in the future?

Xino left her brother’s office and returned to Yan Can. She said dejectedly, ”Xu Yun’s cousin’s problem is taken care of for now, but I still want to get that scumbag who bullied her kicked out. My brother won’t help me anymore. Do you have any good ideas?”

”Uh, you don’t need to worry about that.”

Yan Can replied with a smile, ”I’m already working on it. It shouldn’t be a problem. That guy wasn’t clean to begin with, anyway.”

”That’s great. If you pull this off, I’ll owe you one big time.”

”Happy to help, happy to help.” Yan Can chuckled, then took the initiative to call Xu Yun and ask for an update on the situation.

”Hey, Brother Xu, how’d it go?”

”We’re good.”

”What about the next part? Can you handle it?” Xu Yun asked over the phone.

”Barring any surprises, I should be able to.”

”Alright, got it.”

Xu Yun then asked, ”Where are you now? Xiaowei and I can come meet you. Let’s grab a bite to eat together.”

”I’m at that tavern we went to last time, Xu...”

Yan Can was about to say that Xino was there too, implying it might not be a good time, but Xino motioned for him to keep quiet.

She wanted to give Xu Yun a surprise.

With Xino right there, Yan Can couldn’t exactly give a subtle hint, so he just continued, ”Just give them my name when you get here.”

This was a members-only establishment; not just anyone could get in.

Xu Yun wasn’t a member here. The only reason he hadn’t been stopped at the door before was because he’d always been with Yan Can.

”Okay.”

「A little over ten minutes later.」

Xu Yun parked his car and walked in with Song Xiaowei.

He was surprised to see Xino sitting next to Yan Can.

’What’s Xino doing here?!’

Xino saw them too. Her eyes landed on Song Xiaowei, who was clinging to Xu Yun’s arm. She frowned and whispered to Yan Can, ”Isn’t that a little too intimate for cousins? They look more like a couple.”

”Maybe they’re just really close.”

Seeing her reaction, Yan Can hastily tried to explain. ”My cousin likes to hang on my arm sometimes when we’re out, too.”

”Oh, really?”

Xino was only half-convinced, but she accepted the explanation.

As Xu Yun and Song Xiaowei approached, Song Xiaowei noticed the other woman. She grew shy and instinctively let go of Xu Yun’s arm.

When Xino saw this, she thought, ’See? I was just overthinking things.’

”Xu Yun.”

She smiled and called his name affectionately. Then she turned to Song Xiaowei and said, ”You must be Xu Yun’s cousin, right? You’re gorgeous! I’m Xino. You can call me Sister Xi.”

Song Xiaowei was dumbfounded.

She had no idea why she’d suddenly been demoted to Xu Yun’s cousin, but she wasn’t a fool.

From the way this woman acted toward Xu Yun, she could easily guess their relationship.

The happiness she had just begun to feel was instantly extinguished, as if doused by a bucket of cold water.

’So, in the end, I’m the one who has to stay in the shadows when other women are around.’

She was stunned for a few seconds. She neither confirmed nor denied being his cousin.

Instead, she replied with a smile, ”Hello, Miss Xi. You’re very beautiful, too.”

It was a form of silent protest.

”Thank you.” Xino laughed, completely oblivious to the subtext.

’She probably just feels awkward calling me ’Sister’ since we’ve just met.’

’But that’s okay,’ she thought. ’There’s plenty of time. We’ll meet a few more times, and sooner or later, she’ll come around.’

At this, Xu Yun shot a questioning look at Yan Can.

Seeing that the jig was about to be up, Yan Can quickly jumped in with a clever explanation. ”Brother Xu, here’s what happened. Xino found out about your cousin being bullied at the TV station, and she even pulled some strings to help out today.”

As he spoke, he shot a discreet look at Xu Yun.

Xu Yun was speechless.

’No wonder Xiaowei said in the car that Director Wang had received two phone calls.’

’So Xino had gotten involved too.’

Xu Yun turned to Xino and asked, puzzled, ”You have connections at the TV station?”

”Nope.”

Xino replied smugly, ”But my brother does! As soon as I heard about your cousin’s situation from Yan Can, I went straight to my brother and asked him to step in.”

”Do you mind if I ask who your brother contacted?”

”I was standing nearby, and I think I heard him call the guy Director Li.”

Xu Yun fell silent.

’Damn, she went straight to the top brass at the TV station.’

Hearing this, Song Xiaowei, who had been standing to the side, was also stunned by the extent of Xino’s influence.
