This Doctor Is Too Wealthy

”Bro, it’s my butt that hurts and I can’t walk; my hand is fine.”

Suddenly, as Kang Zhirong began talking back, the anger that had dissipated in Du Heng’s heart gathered once again.

Glaring at Kang Zhirong with a stern face, Du Heng reached out and turned him around. ”Lie prone and let me see why your butt hurts.”

Speaking and acting simultaneously, he gave Kang Zhirong no chance to resist.

”Bro, Dean, don’t do this!” Kang Zhirong immediately panicked at Du Heng’s actions.

”What do you mean, don’t do this? Hurry up and let me take a look. We need to make sure you haven’t broken any bones.”

”Don’t!” Holding the small camera in one hand, Kang Zhirong clutched his waistband with the other. ”Bro, the car just clipped me; I flipped over and landed on my butt.

I didn’t land on it hard, and I didn’t hit anything. I’m fine.”

Du Heng looked at Kang Zhirong with amusement. ”Are you sure I don’t need to take a look?”

”No need, really no need.” Kang Zhirong was genuinely scared.

He was terrified that Du Heng would pull down his pants in front of so many people.

But, all joking aside, Du Heng still reached out to steady Kang Zhirong. ”Alright, move to the side of the road and wait. It’s not safe here.”

WEE-OO—WEE-OO—WEE-OO

WHOOP—WHOOP—WHOOP—WHOOP—WHOOP

NEE-NAW—NEE-NAW—NEE-NAW

In a short while, various sirens echoed as rescue personnel finally arrived at the scene.

Then, everyone began to attend to their respective duties, each busy with their own tasks.

”What’s going on with these three? Who treated them?” Suddenly, several doctors in white gowns stood before the driver and the other two. After a single glance, they began shouting.

Left with no choice, Du Heng, from outside the guardrail, approached the three again. ”Hello, I treated these three.”

The doctor standing at the front looked Du Heng up and down. ”What happened?”

”This person is the driver. He has a cervical dislocation and a head injury. I improvised a neck brace to protect his cervical vertebrae.” Du Heng pointed to the driver as he spoke, then gestured towards the woman with the suspected liver rupture. ”I suspect this injured woman has a liver rupture. I used acupuncture to stop the bleeding. You should perform a check-up; if you deem the needles unnecessary, I can remove them now.”

”Liver rupture?”

As soon as Du Heng finished speaking, the doctors and nurses around the woman were all shocked.

But after another look at her, they found that her external symptoms didn’t resemble those of a patient with a liver rupture at all. Instantly, they all thought Du Heng was talking nonsense again.

But Du Heng paid them no mind, his finger moving to the next patient. ”This patient’s abdomen was pierced by a wooden stick about 30 centimeters long. My initial assessment is that the stick didn’t penetrate through the abdomen into the abdominal cavity. I’ve performed basic hemostasis.

However, this stick is a piece of kindling, likely contaminated with incense ash and other ashes. There’s a risk of wound infection, so you need to be mindful of that.”

The doctor at the front remained silent until Du Heng finished, then asked, ”Are you a doctor as well? How should I address you?”

”Du Heng. I’m a doctor from Jinzhou, just visiting Quan City.”

The lead doctor’s eyes suddenly lit up. ”Are you that ten million internet celebrity doctor, the one they call Du Demigod?”

Du Heng smiled. ”If there’s no one else with that name, then it’s probably me. But am I really that famous now?”

The doctor at the front also chuckled. ”I’m Doctor Zhang Zuo, from the Emergency Department of Luqi Hospital. I’ve been hearing your name all day long, from morning until now.”

Luqi?

Guan Bo’s colleague?

As Guan Bo’s colleague, he must know about all the online buzz today. So, it’s not surprising he knows who I am.

What a coincidence.

Doctor Zhang Zuo continued, ”Given Doctor Du’s skills, there should be no problem. We can leave the needles in the injured patients for now and deal with them after they’ve had a check-up at the hospital.”

After speaking to Du Heng, Zhang Zuo turned to his colleagues. ”First, transfer the three seriously injured patients. The lightly injured can wait for the next ambulance. Let’s move!”

Seeing Zhang Zuo and his team get busy, Du Heng intended to return to Wu Shengnan’s side.

Meanwhile, Wu Shengnan was speaking with the newly arrived police officers. If all went as expected, they would likely leave in a police car later.

However, just as Du Heng was about to leave, Zhang Zuo suddenly called out, ”Doctor Du, please wait.”

”Is something wrong?”

”There’s something I wanted to tell you.”

”Go ahead.”

”An hour ago, Doctor Guan suffered a sudden emergency and was sent to our Emergency Department for emergency treatment. He was subsequently transferred to our hospital’s Psychiatry Department.”

Du Heng was dumbfounded. He asked in a daze, ”What do you mean?”

The corner of Zhang Zuo’s eye twitched slightly. ”It means the competition between you and Doctor Guan might not proceed as scheduled.”

”No competition?”

”Well... according to Doctor Guan’s current condition, he probably won’t be able to compete the day after tomorrow.”

”Really?” Du Heng wanted to confirm.

”Doctor Guan being sick is real.”

A torrent of unspoken curses flooded Du Heng’s mind.

He was the one who shamelessly insisted on this competition.

He even used online public opinion to corner himself, insisting he had to participate!

And because of this competition, my Big Leader has already stepped in to help me coordinate the follow-up matters!

And now you suddenly fall ill?

Are you claiming it’s a mental illness?

It just comes on whenever you want, does it?

****.

This timing of falling ill is just shameless.

Could it be that this guy knew he couldn’t beat me, so he deliberately pulled this stunt?

If that’s true, then he’s utterly despicable.

Zhang Zuo left with the three critical patients, leaving Du Heng alone outside the guardrail, stunned.

He didn’t snap out of it until Wu Shengnan came to find him and pulled him into the police car.

He just couldn’t figure it out.

Halfway there, Du Heng suddenly remembered Lan Changhua’s call and immediately called him back. ”Professor Lan, is Guan Bo sick?”

”I don’t know.” Lan Changhua sounded equally puzzled on the other end. ”Hold on, I’ll call Sir Zhang right now and ask.”

With that brief exchange, they hung up.

Less than three minutes later, Du Heng’s phone rang again.

”It’s confirmed. Guan Bo had a sudden onset of a disease and was rushed to their hospital’s Emergency Department for treatment. By the way, how did you find out?”

”I was in a car accident and ran into a doctor from Luqi’s Emergency Department. He told me.”

Lan Changhua’s voice immediately filled with concern. ”A car accident? Are you alright?”

”Thank you for your concern, Professor Lan. I’m fine.”

”Whew, that’s good, as long as you’re okay.” Lan Changhua heaved a sigh of relief. ”If you got into a car accident too, then things would really get chaotic.

Both participants in a competition meeting with accidents—just thinking about it is bizarre enough.

As long as you’re fine, that’s all that matters.”

Du Heng scratched his head. ”Professor Lan, do you think Guan Bo is really sick?”

”What are you implying?”

”We’re all doctors; we all work in hospitals. Leaving aside the regular physical check-ups hospitals provide, as doctors, we should have a good understanding of our own physical condition.”

Du Heng’s mind raced with conspiracy theories as he frowned and continued, ”Besides, Guan Bo himself is a skilled traditional Chinese medicine doctor. He wouldn’t just suddenly fall ill, especially not with a disease that requires emergency admission. It just doesn’t add up.”

Lan Changhua was silent for a moment on the other end. ”You do have a point. For a doctor, that situation is indeed unusual.

But I just called Sir Zhang, and he didn’t sound like he was faking it on the phone. Plus, when I spoke with him earlier, he left in such a rush—that didn’t seem fake either.

By the way, since Guan Bo was rushed to the Emergency Room for an emergency, have they notified you about canceling the competition yet?”

”No, not yet.”

”If they haven’t notified you, then don’t worry about it. Just carry on as planned and focus on preparing for the competition. If they do notify you, we’ll discuss what to do then.”

Du Heng’s expression shifted rapidly. After Lan Changhua finished, Du Heng said resentfully, ”If they tell me the competition is off, I’m definitely going to check on Guan Bo myself.

If he isn’t sick, he *must* compete with me. Otherwise, I’ll expose him online and ruin his reputation.

If he is really sick, I’ll treat him personally. And after he’s cured, he still has to compete with me.

He’s the one who insisted on forcing me to compete, and now he’s the one who suddenly gets sick and won’t compete. Is he playing me for a fool?

He can’t expect things to go so conveniently for him!”
